Vince and Nicole the rich, beautiful, perfect couple or so it appeared until one of the new interns at Vince's high tech company of which he happens to be the CEO is found dead in Central Park. The victim beautiful, luscious Layla had been having a very secretive affair with Vince and now it looks like he will be the prime suspect. This news will destroy his wife as they were trying to conceive a child with much difficulty but Vince swears he's didn't murder Layla and the affair meant nothing and he had already ended it with Layla. ( Isn't that wht every spouse caught in an affair says? ) The detectives zero in on Vince when a diary with missing pages is found and the secrets that Layla wrote in her journal are quite the dooming evidence. In the meantime lovely but devastated Nicole is being stalked by reporters and especially one who seems to want more than pictures while Vince continues to plead his innocence.
Will Vince be arrested and go to trial? Did he murder Layla? Will Nicole ever be able to forgive Vince all his indiscretions? What about the family they wanted so badly? Is there really such a thing as "Happily Ever After" ?
This was a terrific story from start to finish. I can't believe this was a debut novel because the storytelling and writing was spot-on. The characters were relatable and Vince for all his stupidity was very likeable and I felt bad for him at times. There were a few calculating and vicious females in this story and some unscrupulous media reporting as well. The story is relevant to our real news today when a public figure or celebrity has an affair or other indiscretions that are found out and their lives become a media circus and every bit of privacy that they once had is completely shredded and destroyed into a million pieces. The ending maybe a shocker to many because it is very clever but I had figured it out because their were many undertones of the famous best selling book "Presumed Innocent" by Scott Turow. Don't miss out n this story if you want to read a good and fast page turner with plenty of action and many secrets and lies.
I want to thank the publisher "HQ" (HQ Digital) and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this novel and any thoughts and opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!
I have given this yummy book a rating of 4 Sinister 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Stars!!
This book was a page turner I didn’t want to put down. Just when you think you solved the mystery of what happened to Layla, there was a new twist. I enjoyed every minute of reading this book.
I was sent this book free from NetGalley, I really enjoyed this book. There were lots of twists and turns throughout and the way it was written from different peoples POV kept you interested in what was going to happen next.
Wow what an amazing book , brilliant characters and twisting storyline . It was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time , very well written and put together . I can’t wait to read more from this fantastic new author
What a great debut novel. Vince was not telling all the truth but it took many twists before things started to come together. I simply had to keep reading as I wanted to try to resolve who was the murderer and I have to admit that I never worked it out before disclosure. The ending was well developed. All the characters were so clearly defined and I found them all easy to relate to and totally believable.
I am looking forward to more from this superb author.
Great book! Really enjoyed the twists and turns and was surprised by the ending. I would definitely recommend it!
I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down and stayed up way too late finishing it.
The husband, the owner of a tech company finds himself in an affair and then she gets murdered in Central Park. He says he didn’t do it.....but did he???
The ending of this book is insane and the characters are great. Will definitely be recommending this one to everyone. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy.
This was a fascinating and very compulsive story. Being mistakenly charged with murder, your life and business at risk, your wife alienated. You gave into temptation without realising the implications. The story continues to a great conclusion with a double twist in the tail.
Even though I guessed what was going to happen 30 pages in - it was still a great read.
I read it one day. Loved the diff points of view !
Great debut novel which kept me hooked. Great twists and turns. Would recommend!
Thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I was very excited to be allowed the chance to read this author's first book and I must say she did an absolutely outstanding job. I can't wait to read more by her! She has a writing style that drew me in from the first page until the very last page. She had lots of great twists in the book which will keep you guessing until the very last page. Thank you for choosing me to read and review this awesome book!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.
I loved it!
I really enjoyed this book. It held my interest and kept me guessing. It was very hard to put down. I wanted to keep reading it and kept thinking.. okay, one more chapter.
I really had not got a clue who had killed Layla until the very end.
I highly recommend this book.
5 Stars!
Excellent debut novel! This book had lots of suspense & mystery. So many twists and turns. Kept me engaged until the end and could never quite figure out exactly who to believe until the end!
The characters were flawed but believable. Just when I thought I knew what was happening, another twist. Just how I like these type of books!
I really enjoyed this book even though it started out kinda slow to me. I did figure out the ending also. I would still recommend this book.
Reviewed this book on Amazon and gave it a 5 star review. It was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone.
Ok so this book needs to be turned into a movie!! What a gripping story, I finished it in one (extremely lazy) day. I loved every single character, loved the authors writing style and just truly couldn’t put the book down. The only negative thing I could say about The Guilty Husband is that I was lowkey hoping Allison and Lanner were going to end up together! Great book, highly recommend!
This is an excellent suspense novel with a surprise ending. Wealthy businessman, Vince, is accused of murdering a young female intern at his high-tec business. The story is told by different perspectives. Chapters are written from the detective on the case, the accused, etc. it is easy to follow and keeps the book interesting.
I absolutely DEVOURED this book! It is so well-written and has all of my favorite things! Jaw-dropping WTF moments, multiple first person POV, nonlinear timeline, likable characters (and some hatable), and everyone is a suspect! I especially liked Allison, the police detective. She’s written like she’s a regular character instead of just a cop like I see so often. I actually really enjoyed reading her chapters rather than skimming them to get to the other ones. I really loved how the truth was unraveled a bit at a time rather than dumped all at once at the very end. The Guilty Husband is definitely a book I’ll be recommending for a long time! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
This was an entertaining read , fast paced and kept me interested right from the start .
Vince seemingly has it all , rich , good looking with a beautiful wife Nicole . When one of his interns is murdered all eyes are on Vince when it transpires that they were having an affair . With someone feeding information to the press and the cops on his tail things are not looking good for Vince , with his marriage , company and freedom on the line . Although this was an enjoyable read for me it did seem similar to a few books I've read recently . This didn't affect my enjoyment at all .
The Guilty Husband was a well written police procedural! Told from alternating perspectives, readers follow Vince and Detective Allison Barnes as they try and piece together what happened to Vince’s mistress, Layla...The dialogue made me feel like I was watching an episode of Law and Order and the usage of Layla’s diary to tell her side of the story was a great addition. If you read The Perfect Husband, this book is definitely for you!
