I apprecitate the publisher allowing me to read this book. I found this a really interesting read and the characters are quite engaging. it kept me reading until the end. I highly recommend.
I truly loved See Something by Carol J. Perry. The Witch City mystery series is my favorite. I like how Lee Barrett, the protagonist, continues to grow as a character with each new book. This series has been going for quite a while, so it really speaks to how great a writer the author is that Lee remains a developing character. It's also nice that her relationship with Detective Pete Mondello continues to progress. I do wish there was more involvement of Lee's scrying powers and paranormal stuff though. I'll admit the various mysteries in this particular story really had me stumped. I really expected there to be a twist near the end, but there wasn't. Even so, I really enjoyed the book. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one in the series.
Lee has been promoted from field reporter to program director. Even though she is busy putting together a new show, she takes pity on a woman who looks lost. Lee discovers that the woman does not remember her name. When a body washes up, the police wonder if the woman truly has amnesia or is faking to cover her crime. This is one my favorite cozy mystery series. I love the characters, the setting and the mysteries. This book only adds to the series I look forward to reading the next installment.
This is a fun cozy series with a slight paranormal twist. I really appreciate that this series and it's characters are so well developed, it makes for an enjoyable reading experience,. The book is an easy read and it's set in Salem, what more is there to love?
See Something is the 11th novel in the popular Witch City Mystery series by Carol J. Perry. The protagonist, Lee Barrett, who has been a field reporter for the local station WICH-TV, has been promoted to program director. On her way to work she sees a woman sitting in the town square and on her way home sees that the woman is still there; Lee learns that she doesn’t even know her name and has nowhere to go. After work, Lee takes her home, and that is where the mystery begins. Pete, Lee’s detective boyfriend, is investigating a murder, and Lee wants to help him, since her Jane Doe may have amnesia because she witnessed that murder.
Just like the previous novels in this series, this one is well-written. There is some suspense, but not as much as expected, so some may say that the novel doesn’t move fast enough. However, the characters are well-developed and even those new to the series who are reading this book as their first, will know what’s going on and will like the characters and want them to find the killer so that Salem is a safe haven again. As always, this series has no graphic sex, violence, and language, so it’s suitable for all ages. Teens will enjoy it as well as adults.
This series is fairly typical in the cozy genre, and even though Lee isn’t in the culinary business, there are dozens of references to food, which makes readers hungry and makes them yearn for the recipes. Perry includes several good recipes at the end of the book, so culinary mystery aficionados will be satisfied. Actually, the recipes in this novel sound mouthwatering and are definitely worth trying.
This is a fun novel and a fun series.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I really enjoy this series and in the latest one Lee has gotten a promotion to program director and she thought that this would keep her out of trouble but it doesn't!
Lee sees a young woman on a bench and asked if she needs help and finds out she can't remember who she is and so Lee call's her boyfriend who is a detective. They soon find out that a man has been murdered and they think she might have seen it which is what messed with her memory, either that or she is the killer and is faking it.
Lee and her aunt don't think she is guilty, but Lee is trying to leave things alone but then strange things keep happening and it looks as if she might have a stalker who is the killer and he has it out for Lee even though she didn't see anything. Seems Lee can't stay out of it so she decided to try and figure things out.
I really enjoyed this one and love the characters! Recommend!
In this 11th Witch City Mystery book, we find Lee in a new position of Program Director. She is not longer working as a field reporter and it is something she misses very much, especially when she gets involved in another investigation. Lee meets a woman sitting on a bench in the Salem common, one who doesn't remember her own name or how she ended up there. Lee takes her home to give her somewhere to stay while they figure out more about her. Meanwhile, a body washes up in a narrow harbor cove and both Lee and Lee's beau, Detective Pete Mondello think she might know something about it.
If you haven't read this series, you need to know that Lee has visions. She sees things in shiny surfaces, specifically mirrors, but it can be other things that you can see your reflection in. As Lee gets to know Jane Doe, the women she found in the park, she starts to have some visions, that involve a totally different investigation. One thing I enjoy about this series is the involvement of Aunt Ibby and lately her friends, who call themselves, The Angels (aka Charlie's Angels). It is always fun to see what they get up to. Throw in O'Ryan, a psychic cat who is able to get his messages across to Lee, who often helps to solve a case as well, and you never know what is coming next. This is a great series, but can be read as a standalone. There’s suspense, intrigue and paranormal in every book. Like all good cozies and mysteries, there are some red herrings, fun and interesting dialogue, a great setting and characters that feel like old friends. I recommend this book and series.
This is book 11 in the Witch City Mystery series. I would recommend reading some of the previous books. I've read several but not all and had no problems following the story. Lee has worked at Salem's tv station for several years as a reporter and is now program director. She has several ideas for new shows. Lee is also helping a homeless woman who can't remember her own name. This series is light, fun and easy to read. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was a fun, spooky new entry into the series that did not disappoint. It was fun to revisit these characters and solve the whodunit.
My rating: 3 of 5 stars, I liked it.
Book 11 in the series.
Fast, fun, easy read, with a touch of paranormal. Lately, it seems like all I can handle are light, easy reads, so this was perfect for me. And I enjoy Lee and Aunt Ibby, and the Salem setting. I always learn a little something new about Salem, MA, too. Lee's boyfriend is growing on me, especially since he seems to accept Lee's gift.
I always look forward to more Witch City.
We're back in Salem with Lee Barret - and find that she's been promoted to program director from reporter. In addition to charting a course in her new job, Lee is tackling another mystery thanks to finding a woman with amnesia sitting on a park bench. Is the woman at all involved in the murder of a man who was found in the city? Or is she simply an innocent bystander about to be dead-center in a murderer's crosshairs?
When Lee, her Aunt Libby, the "Angels" (and Ibby's Friends) set out to solve the conundrum, is trouble - and danger far behind?
The Witch City Mysteries by Carol J. Perry are one of my favorite cozy series and this 11th book in the series - See Something - is another enjoyable addition. I have yet to read a book in the Witch City Mystery series that I didn’t like. The writing is descriptive, the plots are entertaining, and the characters are fun.
If you're looking for a great light read, this series is for you.
Lee Barrett has been moved into a producing position at WICH-TV and is a little overwhelmed. She's missing all the action when a man is found dead. Then, Lee runs into a woman who seems to have some sort of amnesia. Both the murdered man and the mystery woman seem to be connected to something bigger. Can Lee figure out what's going on before someone else ends up dead?
I think we all know that I adore this series! I love Lee as a character and I'm loving reading about all of her adventures. I love Aunt Ibby and the Angels. I love Pete so much! This one did make me a little nervous for Lee, though! The developments in Lee and Pete's relationship made me so happy, though! I cannot wait to read the next one!
Princess Fuzzypants here: When Lee is promoted from reporter to program director at her tv station, she thinks her days of hair-raising excitement following up on murder cases is behind her. It all starts quite innocently when she sees a young woman sitting on a bench all day in a park and when Lee speaks with her, she learns she has amnesia. There is a lot more to Jane Doe than memory loss and before you know it, Lee is knee deep in murders and dastardly deeds.
She is ably aided by her cat, O’Ryan, a former familiar (it is Salem), her aunt and her Angel friends who love a good mystery and her boyfriend, the detective. She is going to need all the help she can get because this murderer has a sadistic, cruel sense of “humour” as well as deadly intentions. He is trying to cover his tracks so the investigation does not lead back to the huge real estate scam of which he is a part.
Before the end everyone is involved including the cast of the new kid’s show Lee is producing, two and four legged.. There are some incredible chases and lots of suspense and excitement climaxing in one of the most unique “take-downs” i have ever read. It reinforces why I am always so pleased when the newest edition of this series is published. I have never been disappointed.
Five purrs and two paws up.
Always a top series for me and this one is excellent. I only have one quibble with the plot that kept me from upgrading to 5 stars and that was more about the motivation of the bad guy. Action was solid. Lee Barrett has been promoted to program director at WICH-TV and learning her new job has her off balance. On her first day she finds a woman on the park bench outside who has no idea who she is or how she got there. Lee, her aunt, their friends along with police detective boyfriend join forces to keep everyone safe and solve the mystery. All the characters are so well developed and interesting you want to keep coming back to Salem to visit with them.
Lee and the gang are back along with aunt Ibby to take on another adventure. This series is cute and fun to read. There are a variety of twists and turns to throw you off the trail. This book will definitely keep you reading until the very end.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- One of my favorite cozy mysteries
This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. The setting is charming. The characters are likable. The mysteries are engaging. And this one delivered all those fronts.
The only minor issue I had was how repetitive it got regarding Lee not missing her reporter job. It was brought up way too many times. On that note, I am not sure I am a fan of the author changing Lee's job. I actually think her being a reporter was part of the characters charm and leant itself much better to "mystery solving" than a program director does. That is just my two cents, though. 🤷🏻♀️

Definitely the most suspenseful of the Witch City Mysteries, with a case of amnesia, a glimpse of a death, a reckless criminal, and some very tasty recipes. Lee has been promoted and is no longer running down the stories but that doesn't mean she isn't still racing to solve the crime, after all this isn't her first rodeo. Between shiny surfaces, O'Ryan the clever cat, Aunt Ibby and the Angels, Jane Doe is sure to recover from shock induced amnesia. Lee is content to work on her new job of programming tasks and making ready the new Ranger Rob and Katie the Clown plus a dog and pony show and she still ends up in the middle of the investigation. As good as any eagle eyed sharp shooter, Lee sees things that help to further the investigation but they also lead her further into danger. On the edge of my seat as I "turned" the pages of my Kindle app. Even if this is your first Witch City Mystery you will not have trouble keeping up with the characters and chances are that you will want to check out the other books as well. Oh and did I mention the enticing menu items mentioned throughout the story? At the end of the story you will find so many wonderful recipes. I have already tried two of them.

Review by Cynthia Chow
Lee Barrett has experienced many changes since she returned to her hometown of Salem, Massachusetts. Not only is the former Maralee Kowalski a too-young widow, she has rotated through being a Miami home-shopping-channel host, investigative reporter, instructor on television production, and even a call-in late-night TV psychic. Her last evolution has been the promotion to WCH-TV’s new producer and program director, a job with many responsibilities as Lee juggles three weekly shows and develops an entirely new one. While she finds creating a children’s program with nostalgia favorites Ranger Bob and Katie the Clown delightful and challenging, Lee is even more drawn into the mystery when she stumbles into a young woman with no memory of her identity. Lee’s journalistic instincts are further triggered when a man is found dead at the beach, drowned not by the ocean but by fresh water.
Lee’s boyfriend Detective Pete Mondello is more than a little suspicious about Jane Doe’s claims of having “transient global amnesia,” but Lee and her friends are more sympathetic to the likable and very vulnerable waif. Leading the investigation into the mystery of Jane and the washed up corpse is Lee’s Aunt Ibby, who along with her best friends have become their own team of Angels (just without the Charlie). Lee herself is still growing into her powers as a gazer, able to see visions in reflective surfaces. Her inherited familiar cat O’Ryan is far more comfortable with his intuitive behavior, and Lee is going to need all the help she can get as she tracks down the identities of two mysterious individuals who may be involved in the future of Salem town’s development.
This 11th of the series continues to progress Lee’s growth in both her professional and personal lives. Her romance with Pete is going along quite swimmingly, with the detective cautioning her to be safe while knowing that her gifts – and her irrepressible aunt – make staying on the sidelines of investigations impossible. Lee progressing through jobs as a reporter, host, teacher, psychic, and now a head producer keeps every new book fascinating while also realistically depicting her path towards a satisfying career. Plotwise this story is fun and keeps readers on their toes, as they are never entirely sure of “Jane’s” authenticity no matter how much Lee trusts in her intuition. It is Lee’s intelligence, not to mention the perseverance of her aunt’s Angels, who deliver the solution as much as any mystical visions, which always are as vague as they are alarming. A sweet bow at the end of this tale will have readers anxious for the next installment featuring this bemusing cast of friends, wiccans, and perceptive familiars.
Carol Perry amuses with another Witch City mystery in See Something. Lee Barrett has become program director at WICH TV, but she is still nosy about crime to the despair of her boyfriend policeman Pete Mondello. Lee finds a woman who has lost her memory sitting on the Salem Common and dead bodies start turning up. There is a real estate scam that the perps don't want cleared up. Lee and her cat O' Ryan are on the trail of the crime. Great cosy.
See Something by Carol J. Perry, is the 11th book in the Witch City Mysteries, and another great addition. I love this series, the books are never dull, and this book does not disappoint. Lee Barrett has been promoted to to her television station's program manager, and misses being a field reporter. The owner's nephew has been given her old job. While walking home from work, Lee finds a women who has no memory of who she is or what's she is doing there, so Lee is determined to help her. I really enjoy the relationship between Lee and her detective boyfriend Pete, Aunt Ibby and of course O'Ryan , the psychic cat. This book has everything you want in a cozy mystery, plus a little paranormal thrown in. The story kept me intrigued and reading page after page. I am looking forward to reading Lee's next adventure.
I highly recommend this book/series. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
