The *Great Gatsby* book club kit is a great way to revisit (or discover for the first time) one of the most iconic novels in American literature. The materials included really help bring F. Scott Fitzgerald’s world to life, offering historical context, character breakdowns, and thoughtful discussion questions that go beyond the surface of the story. The kit makes it easier to unpack the novel’s deeper themes of ambition, illusion, and the American Dream.

What I especially appreciated was how the discussion prompts encouraged us to connect Gatsby’s world to our own—exploring timeless issues like class, identity, and the pursuit of success. It was also helpful to have background information on Fitzgerald and the era, which added more depth to our conversations. This kit is perfect for both long-time fans of the novel and readers approaching it with fresh eyes.

As far as book club kits go, this one covers the basics: discussion questions, highlights on the love for the book throughout the years, and a few fascinating facts. If you’re wanting to throw a book club party, you’ll probably need a lot of supplemental material, but if you’re looking to have a low key book discussion, this could be a great resource to help get the ball rolling.

The book club kit for "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald provides discussion questions largely around the cultural significance of the novel and some of the contemporary interpretations of it, as well as quotes by famous authors about the book's impact, and two pages of fascinating facts about the novel and its author. While these are great resources for conversation, I felt that it was missing a couple of pieces that might have made it more impactful, particularly in sparking conversation and getting members warmed up for deeper discussion. First, the questions section doesn't really have many questions about the novel itself- plot, characters, etc. My assumption is that for many, this is a book that was originally read in school, so most have already analyzed and discussed the story at face-value. For those who may be reading the book for the first time, questions around the story itself may be helpful in transitioning to some of the discussion questions around modern interpretation and the novel's legacy. Second, Gatsby is a book that often inspires parties, so this guide might have benefitted from some more activity-based material, or at minimum, resources around comparing film adaptations, etc. so that clubs could structure a meeting with activities such as reflecting on the first time members read the book, watching a movie together, etc.

This bookclub guide was OK. The questions that were provided were thought provoking and interesting, but I wish there had been more. It would have also been nice if there were a few more simple questions to get conversation flowing. Most of the questions were a little heavy/challenging which can be difficult for people who aren't really used to speaking about books.

I didn't think the quotes added anything to the discussion.

The historical facts were interesting but I would have enjoyed more contextual information about F Scott Fitzgerald

Fantastic kit for use in book club meetings. We struggle with discussing the book (we usually say a few worked about it and then start chatting about anything in general) and this will help us to stay on track

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite classics and I have read it for several classes in high school and in college. The discussion questions are interesting but I think they are missing some of the central pieces of the book. There was a missed opportunity to talk about the various imagery within the book including the green light, Dr. T.J. Eckleburg’s eyes, and Gatsby’s car. I also would have liked to see more discussion of the American Dream and social class. Despite all that, I do particularly like questions 3 and 9.

Nicely done! I have read Gatsby multiple times and have taken quite a few literature classes on it as well, yet I still found out a few "new" interesting tidbits about the book and about Fitzgerald by reading your guide. The discussion questions are excellent, and what a nice bonus to read different book reviews that have been written over the years. Thank you very much for this nice companion to this classic American novel!

Great, insightful, reflective questions I was unprepared to answer. I like the theory-ones the best, as in I’d be most excited for my book club’s answer to them. The fun facts are great too! I love knowing more about the story’s process and the author himself.

This kit has been truly amazing for a fantastic book. It is thought-provoking, a good conversation starter, and gives really good insight!

Unfortunately this is a book that I read in highschool and tried again as an adult and I think I disliked it more the second time around. It is a very overrated story and I have not understood the hype over it for the last few years and it also being claimed as " The Great American Novel".

The story is very bland and boring with nothing really happening much except a lot of dialog until one of the last chapters. While I did like the setting in the roaring 20s, Fitzgerald did not enthrall me enough throughout the story to keep me engaged completely and it took me out of the book. The characters minus Gatzby, were also very dull and had little personality to them.

Thank you Penguin Random House Library Resources! I love the “fascinating facts” section in addition to the questions for discussion.

I'm planning to do a book club soon and I chose this book to start it. The kit will help me a lot and the questions are interesting. It's going to help the discussions a lot.

This was lovely! I enjoyed the discussion, especially when it brought up the theory of Nick Carraway being gay, which I agree! It could be so interesting to learn about other's opinionions on this topic since it's a very important element of the book. I think this question could start up a discussion between readers, which is always great. I loved the inclusion of fascinating facts about the author and the book - it adds a nice touch!

This Book Club Kit contains discussion questions and facts to accompany a book club meeting on The Great Gatsby. I really liked the formatting and colours used in this kit as it went with the art deco, 1920s theme of the book. The discussion questions would spark interesting conversations surrounding the book and there are plenty of questions included. I thought the facts were interesting and I definitely learnt some new things about F.Scott Fitzgerald and The Great Gatsby.

I wish this kit contained more content and some more interactive elements for example it could've been fun to include some ideas for recipes, costumes or music to fit the 1920s theme. I would be concerned that by following the questions in the kit and reading the facts a book club meeting could become quite dull.

Ok book club kit. I really enjoyed the thoughtful questions and how they were atypical of what you might normally ask. They were poignant and got you thinking outside the box. I also particularly enjoyed the fascinating facts…I love a good fact!

What this kit could use:
In other book club kits I’ve used, they include fun bookmarks or even some food and beverage pairings. Having a more robust kit just adds to the overall book club experience.

I really liked this. My book club is reading this book now and we have a meeting later this week and I'm so happy I stumbled across this so that we can use it in book club and talk about it. I love that it has extra things about the book and from the author

This wasn't as useful due to the bad formatting on my Kindle. I did appreciate the fascinating facts portion of the guide. I really do appreciate these guides on netgalley.
