I used this for my book club meeting. Some recipes, questions, Q&A with the author and more. Great information. The club loved this book.
This Book Club Kit would make the perfect companion to any book club meeting on Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Royce. I loved how many interactive activities this kit included for example the food and drink recipes as well as film recommendations. The author interviews and discussions questions were interesting and would spark some interesting conversations. Finally I loved the design and colours used for this kit and the formatting made this very easy to read and engage with.
Overall this is a great kit and would definitely enhance the reading experience of the book!
Fantastic kit for use in book club meetings. We struggle with discussing the book (we usually say a few worked about it and then start chatting about anything in general) and this will help us to stay on track.
Love this!!! Miss Bensons Beetle was one of my favorite books I read last year. It was heartbreaking and moving. I was sobbing through parts of it. Since reading it I’ve been hoping to get my book club to read it as well so this is going to really help with that!
Checked out the Book Club Kit of Miss Benson's Beetle since one of my book clubs was reading it. It contained a great set of discussion questions that generated an interesting conversation between the group. As a science geek, I loved the page of fun beetle facts. Next was an interview by Rachel Joyce of Margery Benson and Enid Pretty. Such a fun imagining if that conversation could really occur. The author was interviewed and gave some good insight into the writing of the book. I didn't have a chance to make it but there were food and drink recipes inspired from New Caledonia. Finally, there was a page about movies that had female friendships as their theme. Overall, it was a good book club kit if you are reading this book.
No complaints. Loved the facts about beetles, the discussion questions, and the author's interview. Thanks to netgalley for providing these resources. I'd love to see more.
Such a cute Book Club Kit! I absolutely adored the quick little interview between the author and our characters! This was such a nice way of bringing out more of the main characters' personalities and bringing their great friendship to the forefront. I also really appreciated the Author Interview itself. I learned some new facts about Rachel Joyce's inspiration and choices when writing this book. As always, there are some great recipes and book recommendations at the end that really help pull a book club meeting all together!
A gem for book clubs preparing to read Miss Benson's Beetle, another heartwarming book by the author of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Opinions are mine
Short and sweet guide. It includes questions, interviews, some recipes (food and drink), and a "read next" list. The recipes were a nice addition, and it was nice to see alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.
Miss Benson's Beetle is such a great female friendship adventure story! I loved reading it so much! I highly recommend reading it with a group and using this Book Club Kit. It was so useful during the monthly meeting.
This was a good historical fiction adventure book. The characters were charming and full of faith. They were an unlikely pair, but fit together perfectly.
This is such a fun and engaging book club kit! It was very helpful for our book club meet-up and made our meeting much more interesting. I wish I could have these for every book our book club reads together. Love the beetle facts included!!
5/5
Now this is what I'm looking for when I get a book club! Beetle facts... yes please! Interview with the author and characters add that on! A map of New Caledonia love it! A recipe, heck yea! Drinks, non-alcoholic.... Alcohol! Future viewing of course I want it! The only think missing is the bookmark but i can overlook that since it included so many other fun aspects!
This is exactly the kind of quirky I'd expect from a book club kit for one written by Rachel Joyce! Do pick this one up
This is such a fun, engaging book club kit! I love reading interviews with authors, and hearing about what inspired them to write their novel. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, the kit is easily printable/accessible and I loved how Netgalley began including on their sites. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.
This is just the type of adorable content I expect to see based on this authors books.
It contains great discussion questions, fun facts which I don't want to spoil for a reader, an author interview, food and further recommendations in the most enjoyable layout.
Book Club Kit was very helpful for our book club meeting. We utilized the list of questions and also enjoyed the Beetle Facts! I personally enjoyed the “interview” with the characters!
This kit is packed with so many fun stuff. Interview with authors that give us information about background and inspiration that create this book. Bunch of key questions for spark the discussion time in our book club. Information about traditional food and beverages. And at least some recommendations to watch next with friendship celebration theme.
Thank you Netgalley for provided my copy.
First off this was such a great surprise for me because I didn't know what to expect when I began. The cover is very catchy and well designed which adds a great touch to the book club kit.
I like that you quote Lisa Wingate. Any praise from well known authors is a bonus. The discussion questions are very insightful and cover lots of plot, emotion, perception, inner-dialogue, and big themes. I especially loved the beetle facts. The drawing was a perfect fit and exactly how I pictured the two. I love that you included a Ted Talk with link that can be copied for more information (if wanted).
I also want to thank Rachel Joyce for her interview with both Margery and Ined. It's a clever take on an "author chat" and something I haven't seen before. It's almost like a more personal epilogue. It serves as a plot summary and way for RJ to highlight some of her favorite spots but she still leaves us hanging. In addition to the character's interview, Joyce does a great job talking about her inspiration, novel location, historical background, family history, femininity and friendship, relationships, opposition, and writing process. The map was helpful and as well as the food and drink descriptions and recipes (perfect for a book club). Readers will appreciate the other book recommendations.
This was the first Book Club Kit that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed Miss Benson's Beetle and was hoping to choose it as a book club read, but I don't pick a book for this particular book club until May. I do intend to use this Kit at my meeting after we have read the book. Thank you for the opportunity to use this kit.
