This kit was useful and insightful to my co-book club members as it provided us readers with meaningful discussions on the different themes of the book. Thankful to Netgalley for this.
This book club kit was a useful and insightful complement to the larger story that benefits readers and helps guide meaningful discussions.
Nora Seed has finally reached her limit in life and can’t handle another thing. She feels all alone in the world and losing her cat and job in the same week puts her over the top. She decides she can’t handle anymore and decides that leaving this life would be the best thing for her. However, things are far from over for Nora and she wakes up in The Midnight Library.
She is met there by her childhood librarian, Mrs Elm, and gets the opportunity to see all the different lives she could have had. She gets to relive all the regrets she has had in
life to see where they would have taken her. She now has to choose if she still wants to leave the world or choose one of these different lives.
I absolutely loved this book! It really had me thinking about all the choices I’ve taken and where they have led me. The author did such a great job at making you feel as if you were part of the journey. It is very thought provoking and must read! I highly recommend! 5 💫’s.
A really helpful guide with good questions etc when reading the actual book!!
But I initially downloaded it thinking it contains the actual book :D
A great kit to use when going through, asking questions, and talking about Matt Haig's "The Midnight Library" with others!
It was a Book club kit... it gave me an idea whether i should buy this book or not. it was really helpful.
I don’t know my fellow book club members very well. We convened through a mutual friend during lockdown in January this year and, with the exception of the mutual friend, the rest of us have never met each other in real life. So we talk about the books and our reading experience and we don’t get into personal info sharing at all. Perhaps in time we will, but not yet. Anyway, this kit was not the best for us; I think a book club who knew each other well and who would be perfectly happy sharing information about their personal lives and stuff that’s happened to them in the past would love these questions. For those of us who are kind of polite, awkward people who are there to talk about their impressions of the book, many of the questions in this felt a bit awkward.
Excellent book though, The Midnight Library..
This book club kit for The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is well-constructed and attractive. While I an unsure why the publisher chose to offer this as an ARC- and later, I presume, to be published as a separate purchase. However, I believe the questions are relevant and helpful. The author’s perspective in the interview section is interesting as well.
I absolutely LOVED The Midnight Library, so I was excited for the chance to review the Book Club Kit: The Midnight Library. The questions were thought provoking, and would keep discussion moving easily. I also appreciated the interview with the author, as it gave me insight into why and how he wrote the book.
This is really just a 5 page pamphlet with some graphics and questions for discussion, and an interview with the author. It is nice to have when holding a book club but I'm not sure it warranted its own download - it would be better as part of a website for the book.
I saw this information book on the Netgalley book list and I was super excited. It isn’t the actual book and that was a bit disappointing but this is specified in the info so that is ok and should not reflect negativily in any way shape or form this review. For what it is it‘s a great little Ressource book. It is very informative and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed this small introduction to the Midnight Library. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to read the actual book who needs a small introduction.
Unfortunately I thought this was the actual book of "The Midnight Library." I'm waiting for that to come in from the library, and then I will read this. I've heard really good things about the novel, and am excited to read it! I wish there were an "N/A" rating but am giving this a neutral 3.
Much as you would expect from a Book Club Kit, a handy little guide, helpful for both individual readers and book groups alike.
This was an excellent resource to use at our bookclub meeting where we discussed The Midnight Library. We had to meet over zoom this month so it was. a nice, colorful, visually appealing document. The discussion questions included in this guide lead to some awesome discussion in our group.
This Club Kit offers fantastic questions that get book club discussion rolling. Not only do they make you question passages, quotes, and storyline, but it directs each person to be introspective into their own thoughts and personal lives. I love that it addresses emotions, actions, regrets and outlook as well as alternate versions of you. The reader will also appreciate Matt Haig's interview on this novel as well as his others books. I love that they address that it is written from a female perspective, which deviates from his norm. Fantasy and reality come into play as well as his own regrets in life. Throughout it all, books, libraries and knowledge are at the forefront to lead the reader on. Great resource for book clubs to dive in deeper. I will say that the formatting works best on a computer or the website, It does not translate well into Kindle as it gets broken up into small bits.
Great Book Club Kit! I love downloading the book club kit companions for my books, being head of a book club, it makes my job easier to have this, before I type and print out pages of our discussion topics and questions. The book club kit helps a lot in guiding discussion, too. The Midnight Library Book Club Kit also contains an interview with the author Matt Haig, I really enjoyed reading about him, his life, and his thoughts.
This book club kit contained 8 questions that were a good mix of reflecting on readers' own lives and analyzing the text. Though I did not ask these questions in a book club, I did think they were wonderful questions that paired well with the text. The book club kit also contained a Q&A section with author Matt Haig. There was a question there that referred directly to the "current moment" (aka COVID times), which makes sense in our current climate, but may not be as relatable/understood if used in the future (as the question doesn't specify what "our current moment" is).
The Midnight Library Book Club Kit was an excellent accompaniment to the book itself. After thoroughly enjoying reading The Midnight Library, it was interesting to learn about the author, Matt Haig. I would highly recommend the discussion questions to anyone reading the book in their book club. Thankful for the author and publisher for providing book club kits available for readers. I am only reading the Book Club Kit - basically the discussion question, so my review would be based on this. Frankly speaking, I found the discussion questions are a bit lengthy as it describes the situation thoroughly before imposing the real question. Supposedly, there is no problem with this - yet, due to the descriptive questions, I found the urge of having to submit to a specific kind of answer too rather than a wider spectrum of subjective answers.
Depending on the target audience, which I presumed this would be to middle schooler (as it is too descriptive) a change would be better, I presume.
I loved this book so much that I made my book club gals read it with for our April selection and tonight we are using this blessed red our eyes to enhance our discussion. I found it to be full of insight into the author’s process and the questions will help me facilitate our talk in a way that I might not otherwise be able to do since I so deeply connected with the main character, Nora, and am finding it a bit difficult to find words for the depth of emotion the book stirred in me. Thank you so much to the publisher and author for making club kits such as this for The Midnight Library available to us!!
