This is a great snapshot book of reference to the novel of the same name. It poses thought provoking questions, which encourage its users to contemplate their own lives and areas of regret. I especially enjoyed the questions posed to the author at the end. I enjoy understanding where ideas come from and the reasoning behind aspects of the book. After reading and reviewing this book I shall be purchasing the novel as this publication has piqued my interest and I shall be using the questions within it, to find my own internalised regrets and possible outcomes. Very well written, easy to understand and a wonderful guide to self knowledge. I highly recommend this publication.
I wasnt really satisfied as it was a book club kit. Noth withstanding I will surely be picking up the physical book for the premise is interesting and I wuld like to read it at liesure. The book has been released and is doing fairly well. The populatiry speaks for itself. Will surely be penning a more detailed review soon
I love this author and I was so excited when I received this book! It didn't disappoint. I loved this one even more than the others previous work! It was unputdownable
I received this Book Club Kit from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I think the kit was great. It was very colorful and had great questions and info.
This book club kit contains 8 discussion questions. The questions lean towards being personal side so safety for self-disclosure is necessary for these. I think this could really enhance a book club meeting and open up meaningful dialogue.
Midnight Library was my book club's selection in December, and we had such a fantastic discussion because there was just so much to talk about. That said, I would have loved having these 8 questions plus the conversation with the author to reflect upon. It's always fascinating to learn a little about the author's perspective. It was interesting that he pointed out he's never written from a woman's vantage point before, because it seemed very natural as a reader. I see that NetGalley classifies this book as "women's fiction" and I'm wondering why that is- does it become "women's fiction" solely because the main character/narrator is female? That would be another interesting discussion topic :)
A helpful guide for any group wanting to discuss the book. Good selection for basic conversation starters.
The 8 questions provided in this book club kit are great to start a conversation about the book and is helpful for a bookclub.
This is a great resource for any book club! The questions are wonderful conversation starters and very needed to help improve book discussions.
wonderful discussion starter. With 8 amazing questions to help get yours thoughts going.
Definitely would recommend this to book clubs.
First off I loved this book as did my book club members. The interview that was in this was a neat way to see what the author was thinking and how some of the characters were developed.
Really useful for the book club but even for those that need guidance reviewing a book. I really liked the book and this made me reflect on it more.
This looks like it will be a good guide to go along with the novel. Good thinking questions. I also like the “ In conversation with” at the end.
This is a really good asset for a book club discussion of The Midnight Library and I will use it for a book club I'm in that is reading the book in June. The kit consists of 8 thought-provoking questions to get the discussion going and an interview with the author.
In the interview, the author discusses how his fascination with fantastical libraries and his own battle with anxiety and depression played into his development of this novel. He also dives into how he wrote from a female perspective for the first time, which should make for a great conversation.
I would recommend this kit to anyone reading The Midnight Library in a book club. It's a quick and easy way to get the conversation started.
This book club kit is not the actual novel, but instead the result of a Matt Haig interview
An insight into the mind of Matt Haig, regarding his title: The Midnight Library, which is a brilliant book and I recommend everyone who has ever needed mental health support, to read it. The Midnight Library gets 5 five stars from me.
I actually requested this because I wanted to real The Midnight Library, without realizing it was actually just a collection of questions pertaining to the book. The questions overall were easy yet thought-provoking and made me want to pick up this novel even more.
Incredibly written and thought provoking questions to help readers continue to process and evaluate the incredible book they just read!
A useful resource,
They questions encouraged lots of discussions within my book group, would highly recommend this.
Tigger warning: deals with suicide.
I like this piece of literary fiction. The chapters are short, so it’s easy to read quickly when time allows me to read. On the book jacket, the book is described as “a dazzling novel about all the choices that go into a life well lived.”
I loved the library's storyline, and the relationship between Mrs. Elm and Nora as Nora explores the alternate lives in the library.
While reading this book, I thought a lot about my own life and regrets. This would be an excellent pick for a book club discussion. There is so much to dissect and analyze in this novel.
Parts of the story are light, but most of the book is pretty heavy. It's a quick and fantastic read-through.
This past month, I had selected "The Midnight Library" for our primary book of discussion, and I found these questions to be an excellent fallback whenever the discussion faltered or slowed. While some of the questions seemed like they might hit too close to home or be a little too personal for a large group discussion, the range was solid. That said, I had expected a little more for a 'book club kit' than a set of nine questions and an interview with the author (perhaps a list of books that one might draw parallels to or read if this book was enjoyed) but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
