First off I loved this book as did my book club members. The interview that was in this was a neat way to see what the author was thinking and how some of the characters were developed.
Really useful for the book club but even for those that need guidance reviewing a book. I really liked the book and this made me reflect on it more.
This looks like it will be a good guide to go along with the novel. Good thinking questions. I also like the “ In conversation with” at the end.
This is a really good asset for a book club discussion of The Midnight Library and I will use it for a book club I'm in that is reading the book in June. The kit consists of 8 thought-provoking questions to get the discussion going and an interview with the author.
In the interview, the author discusses how his fascination with fantastical libraries and his own battle with anxiety and depression played into his development of this novel. He also dives into how he wrote from a female perspective for the first time, which should make for a great conversation.
I would recommend this kit to anyone reading The Midnight Library in a book club. It's a quick and easy way to get the conversation started.
This book club kit is not the actual novel, but instead the result of a Matt Haig interview
An insight into the mind of Matt Haig, regarding his title: The Midnight Library, which is a brilliant book and I recommend everyone who has ever needed mental health support, to read it. The Midnight Library gets 5 five stars from me.
I actually requested this because I wanted to real The Midnight Library, without realizing it was actually just a collection of questions pertaining to the book. The questions overall were easy yet thought-provoking and made me want to pick up this novel even more.
Incredibly written and thought provoking questions to help readers continue to process and evaluate the incredible book they just read!
A useful resource,
They questions encouraged lots of discussions within my book group, would highly recommend this.
Tigger warning: deals with suicide.
I like this piece of literary fiction. The chapters are short, so it’s easy to read quickly when time allows me to read. On the book jacket, the book is described as “a dazzling novel about all the choices that go into a life well lived.”
I loved the library's storyline, and the relationship between Mrs. Elm and Nora as Nora explores the alternate lives in the library.
While reading this book, I thought a lot about my own life and regrets. This would be an excellent pick for a book club discussion. There is so much to dissect and analyze in this novel.
Parts of the story are light, but most of the book is pretty heavy. It's a quick and fantastic read-through.
This past month, I had selected "The Midnight Library" for our primary book of discussion, and I found these questions to be an excellent fallback whenever the discussion faltered or slowed. While some of the questions seemed like they might hit too close to home or be a little too personal for a large group discussion, the range was solid. That said, I had expected a little more for a 'book club kit' than a set of nine questions and an interview with the author (perhaps a list of books that one might draw parallels to or read if this book was enjoyed) but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
There is really nothing to review in the sense, besides a couple discussion questions which were compatible with the book. I haven’t read the book yet but the questions were easy enough to understand.
The Midnight Library starts with a young woman. Nora is depressed about failed relationships, both family and romantic, lost opportunities, bad decisions. When she discovers a "multiple universes" magical library where she could reverse her regrets and try other optional lives, she begins a journey of self discovery.
I love this novel's hopeful themes of finding yourself, discovering what is really important, and living your best life!
Really wonderful and thought-provoking questions. This is a great supplement to any book club to offer a deeper discussion and look into the author's meaning. A perfect way to spark discussion, in a group or on your own to get a better grasp of your own thoughts.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an advance review copy of this book.
I loved The Midnight Library. This is a great companion for a book club. The questions will provoke insightful conversations. Thanks NetGalley!
Good way to navigate discussions for a book club. If you need help with coming up with questions and discussions for your book club this is the perfect tool to help lead you through.
My book club selected this book for our May 2021 meeting. This book club kit has some very thought provoking questions that will generate a great discussion. Including a little background from Haig was also helpful - especially his commentary on how blending non-fiction and fiction allows you to explore topics deeper. I loved the book but felt this guide gave me even more insightful way to reflect on it.
Accidently downloaded this one thinking it was the real book - not the book club kit.
Will come to review once I read the full novel!
A wonderful deeper look into the authors thoughts, book themes, and musings on the Midnight Library. A great companion to provide insight and discussion material for readers of the book, book club members, or even aspiring authors.
A big thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an advance review copy of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.
Book Club Kit: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is worth the money for book clubs. It is full of questions that will lead the conversation in the direction the author intended. Thinking through these questions will allow the readers to explore the depths of the novel as well as explore the personalities of the author. I recommend it as a guide for your book club.
I was invited to read a free ARC of Book Club Kit: The Midnight Library by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are solely my own. #netgalley #book clubkithemidnightlibrary
I appreciated this book club kit because thinking of great discussion questions is always tricky for me. This provided some great critical questions for my friends and I to think about. It would be helpful if this was a “standard” in the back of most books. Thank you!
