I love this book club kit!! I downloaded it in case my book club finally gets around to it, but I also plan to use it for myself whenever I read it. I love that there are interview questions and answers with the author! The questions are also great ones I would have never came up with myself.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, Interesting and insightful read. Subject matter attracted me to read this book. Loved the writing style.
An exquisite book that is perfect for book clubs. I will share this with our adult book club - they'll appreciate having a resource to guide discussion.
This book was fantastic. I loved the plot, the flow of writing, the element of magic, the overarching feeling of sadness. Most of all I loved how it made me think deeply. I can’t compare this book to anything I’ve read before. It’s a unique piece of work. This would make a wonderful book club pick - it leaves room for lots of conversation and topics.
Thanks to the author, Penguin Random House Samplers and NetGalley for an e-book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you for accepting my request for this book ! I reviewed it on Goodreads. 3.5 star rating. I hated that i wasn’t able to connect with the characters that well
Good book. Good add on for reading. I accidently asked for this one so I had to purchase the book to go along with it. Glad I did. If I were rating the book itself, the rating would be higher.
I read this book over a year ago and loved it! So obviously when I found out there was a book club kit I had to get it! This book club kit is perfect for having a nice light hearted conversation with book club. They complement the book really well. Can’t wait to use this for my book club soon.
When identifying a book for a club the kits and guides are the most important part to a stimulating, productive conversation. The discussion questions provided allow for a wide range of conversation depths. From some surface level get-to-know-you questions, to those that make you internally reflect, I think this kit is suitable for any book club. Although, it should be noted this feels to be intended for a more lighthearted feel with fun conversations. More advanced book clubs may be left wanting a bit more debate and inquisitive questions to finish with. Overall, I enjoyed the variety and hope to see this book and kit talked about more often for book club recommendations.
Great for book club! I wish it had the book along with it! I also wish I had stumbled across this book sooner..
The Book Club Kit for THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY made me swoon! The design is gorgeous, complete with discussion questions and a conversation with the author. A Book Club must-have!
Thanks to the author, Penguin Random House Samplers and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I wasn't sure about this book at first. It's not normally a story line I go for. So many people I know raved I decided to give it a go. This book kept my attention. Books with over and over stories same day things just aren't usually for me. The characters are easy to fall in love with and the book isn't too far fetched. It's about what we can change and is it all worth it in the end. I recommend giving this one a try if u have been debating.
Super helpful! I will be using this as we read the book in the coming month! Glad to have it as an option.
My bad I thought this was the actual book but it was not what I wanted. So, I did not finish it. I wish I could tell more about it .I haven't read any book from Matt Haig and was expecting it to be the first one.
I loved this book. I think this Book Club Kit was a great compliment and addition to the mean behind the book. "Between life and death, there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on for ever." It was also a nice compliment that helped the readers to see the idea behind The Midnight Library and where and how Matt Haig created this incredible story.
Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Random House Library Resources and Matt Haig for the kit!
I expected this to be the actual book, was a me mistake when asking
It’s basically a 7 pages long interview, with pictures and all. interesting if you want to know more about the insights of the creation of the text: the inspirations, the reason why it was written etc.
This books seems to be everywhere and with a host of awards behind it I was keen to get my hands on it.
The story centres upon Nora Seed who decides her own life is not worth living and suicide is her only option.
She finds herself in the midnight library where she is able to make some different life choices and look at how her life could have panned out.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it was an interesting twist to stories like It’s a Wonderful Life.
Matt Haigh has an amazing ability to write about mental health issues in a direct, understandable and insightful way and he does this really well here.
My only slight reservation was I didn’t fall in love with Nora, so although I loved the writing and the story her character was not, for me one I felt completely invested in.
I loved this!! This was my book-club pick for October 2023. When I saw this as an available choice on NetGalley, I was excited!!
To start, the colors of the font was very hard to read. The first section is a light yellow/green so I had to change my reader background to black. Then the next section was a navy blue, so I had to change back to white. I understand wanting to incorporate the colors of the cover, but it didn't work here. Hopefully the published print wasn't like this.
I thought the questions were very thought provoking. I love the way you're encouraged to apply the themes to your own life and really place yourself in the story. I was a little confused as to why there were only 8 questions. I'm not sure if that's the standard for a book club kit, but that seems very minimal. If its attached to the end of the book that's one thing. I wouldn't buy this kit for 8 questions and a few QA with the author,
Regardless, I really liked these questions and they did a great job formulating them. I recommend these questions after reading the book.
I enjoyed going through the Book Club Kit for The Midnight Library. I thought the Discussion Questions were very nice and a great starting point, not just for people new to the book club world but for any book club. The questions go through the book nicely and are helpful for conversation and interaction in a book club group.
The "In Conversation with Matt Haig" was really fascinating. I really liked reading about his thought and feelings about The Midnight Library. It is always enjoyable learning more about an author, what pushed them to write the book, writing in general, the way they wrote it, comparing to their other work....etc.
Overall I enjoyed going through and reading the Book Club Kit for The Midnight Library and would recommend it.
This made reading the book enjoyable! It was awesome for my book club! Would recommend to anyone interested in reading this book!
This is a great starting point for a book discussion! It's got good questions to make you review the book and think about what the author meant, and have good chats to dig deeper. The interview with the author is also nice to understand more about where this book came from and how to think about the intentions that went into it.
