I know I've heard mixed reviews about this in the past, but as someone who deals with depression and has a hard time committing to choices for fear of choosing wrong...I definitely connected with Nora. This book felt like a deep hug or being rubbed on the back while someone says it'll be ok.
I liked the book club kit for The Midnight Library better than the book. The discussion questions are so good! For what is supposed to be a thought-provoking book, these questions definitely stimulate a thoughtful discussion. I loved questions 1 and 5. The Q&A with Matt Haig was good, also. This kit is simply discussion based; no extras, and I do like extra things in book club kits to add to the fun of a book club meeting.
"The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig is a beautifully crafted and thought-provoking novel that delves into themes of regret, choice, and the pursuit of happiness. The story offers a unique and imaginative concept that is sure to resonate with readers.
Nora Seed, the protagonist, is at a crossroads in her life, feeling overwhelmed by regrets and missed opportunities. The Midnight Library, a place between life and death, presents her with a chance to explore alternate versions of her life by undoing some of her key regrets. This intriguing premise sets the stage for a profound exploration of the "what-ifs" that haunt many people.
Haig's writing is both lyrical and emotionally resonant, drawing readers into Nora's journey as she experiences different lives and grapples with the consequences of her choices. The book raises essential questions about the nature of happiness, fulfillment, and the paths we choose in life. It prompts readers to reflect on their own lives and the choices they've made along the way.
One of the strengths of "The Midnight Library" is its relatable and empathetic characters. Nora's struggles and desires are portrayed in a way that allows readers to connect with her on a deep emotional level. The supporting characters she encounters in her various "book" lives add depth and complexity to the narrative.
At its core, this novel is a celebration of life and a reminder that every choice we make, no matter how insignificant it may seem, shapes our journey. It encourages readers to appreciate the beauty of the present moment and find contentment in the lives they are living.
"The Midnight Library" is a moving and ultimately uplifting story that explores profound philosophical questions while maintaining a compelling and accessible narrative. It's a book that will leave readers contemplating their own lives, choices, and the infinite possibilities that exist within them. Matt Haig's storytelling is both heartwarming and thought-provoking, making this novel a highly recommended read for anyone seeking a poignant exploration of the human experience.

The book club kit help us to understand more about the book. It gave me insightful and new perspective about The Midnight Library novel. And it's fun to read it, help a lot
I was curious to see what a book club resource would be for a novel like The Midnight Library, and I was happy with the result. It encouraged deeper contemplation and good discussion about the novel and had some topics that would be good conversation starters in a book club environment. One of the things that has always been difficult for me with attending book clubs is that it is sometimes difficult to get started on the discussion. I am glad to see publishers putting together resources like this!
Extra information on The Midnight Library. This is an interview with the author. I feel like this should be available on an author's website. The book club discussion questions are helpful.
Great read and a great storyline with characters that i really liked. I had heard a lot of good things about this book and so I was excited to get a chance to read it and review it. It lived up to the hype!
Cool resource! I loved The Midnight Library and this resource will enrich my discussions about the book. I especially appreciate the author interview!
I want not sent this book and would like it off my shelf. I cannot rate this book as I have not had a chance to read it. I would still love to read this book! I was given a book kit. Not sure what that is. Need it off this shelf.
I find this kit very useful for those who have a book club I think it really makes you get more out of the book
I really appreciate that Penguin creates these Book Club guides for many of their titles. While they are also useful to classroom teachers looking for good discussion questions or background/context, they are also a good tool for use with literature circles at the secondary level. Here, they also provide the author’s response to some questions about his larger body of work as well.
I found this to be a great book club motivator! The questions were great and the design of it was also up to standard. Perfect companion to a book club!

Nice and simple book club kit. Enjoyed the discussion questions and interview with the author. Adding something more like printable bookmarks with book quotes on them would be great!
Very brief guide. It only includes author info and discussion questions. I would have liked to see ways to build on the discussion (activities, "read next" suggestions, etc.).
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
I am so glad I received this book. I read so many good reviews and they did not dissapoint.
It makes you sit and think about what you would do if you were Nora. The decisions that need to be made, the regrets and the second guesses.
Nora decided she wanted to die. She thought death was the best decision. But then between life and death she confronted with the Midnight Library. There she is given an option to confront her regrets and live different lives based on new choices. But did she make the right decision. Was her old life really that bad or was her new life better???
I loved this book! So there are an unlimited amount of books in the library and you can pick whatever book you decide on and it takes you to that universe. Perhaps you regretted turning down a marriage proposal so you pick that book and it sends you into what your life would be if you had married that person. The main character, Nora, is relatable and learns so much from being in the library. It was a quick read that was different from my typical genres, but was very enjoyable and made me want to read more from Haig. Don't let the Library in the title fool you, this is more than a library, it tells the story of parallel universes and gives life to what everyone would like to see if they had done this rather than that.
As a fan of The Midnight Library, I really enjoyed delving into the origins of its inspiration. I think Matt Haig is just an amazing author and overall brilliant. The book club guide provided thought-provoking questions and captivating feedback from the author. I felt it was so valuable getting insights into his thoughts. This was my first time using a Kit like this, and I loved it.
I liked the look and feel of this book club media kit. I work with authors and like checking out how authors put together these types of materials.
