Thank you, NetGalley for this opportunity to share the club kit with my group.
A woman in my book club is a scientist, working with mice, and a women bible study facilitator.
This book opened up heartfelt, and at times, tearful conversations among the 12 of us who read this book. Some of us, in our congregations, have overheard gossip that is hurtful, all of us have experienced loss. Those of us who teach youth have been challenged with the questions/connections between God and science.
Yaa Gyasi, through her unique writing style, opens our eyes and ears and once we get past being a bit uncomfortable, honest conversation flows and the end result is fruitful. Thank you again.

Gifty is a fifth-year candidate in neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine studying reward-seeking behavior in mice and the neural circuits of depression and addiction. Her brother, Nana, was a gifted high school athlete who died of a heroin overdose after a knee injury left him hooked on OxyContin. Her suicidal mother is living in her bed. Gifty is determined to discover the scientific basis for the suffering she sees all around her.
Transcendent Kingdom is a deeply moving portrait of a family of Ghanaian immigrants ravaged by depression, addiction, and grief--a novel about faith, science, religion, and love. Exquisitely written, emotionally searing, this is a compelling follow-up to Gyasi's phenomenal debut.

This book was interesting to me as someone who is in healthcare and has a strong science background. I really enjoyed the parts of her research and how it connected to her life. I did are for the main character, but I was taken aback by how religious this book was. I can respect her spiritual journey and her life in a whole. All around, I really enjoyed this book.

A lovely resource for anyone who runs a book club, full of thoughtful questions as well as a Q&A. The illustrations were a wonderful addition.

I didn't realise this was not in fact the book, and have yet to read it. But the kit looks very useful, especially the "further reading" list at the end.

First and foremost, a big thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Library Resources for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.
The book club kit was very informative and enlightening. The discussions and questions and answers were illuminating. The graphics were a nice addition.

Can't wait to use this with my book club! Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Library Resources for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This book club kit is short and to the point with great questions. This came at the perfect timing - I can't wait for our Transcendent Kingdom book club next week and the discussion we'll have because of this kit! The book suggestions are also very on point and I can't wait to dive into those.

This "Book Club Kit" is a great resource - I just downloaded it in preparation for my IRL Book Club's June meeting about Yaa Gyasi's "Transcendent Kingdom". The readers' questions are thought-provoking and should lead to an insightful discussion amongst the group. I also appreciate the added context of the Q&A with Yaa Gyasi and other suggested book titles. Thank you for providing this resource, Net Galley!

Great kit with great insight to share within the book club I’m in and suggested future reads! I’ve read one of the books on the suggested read list, so the list was super beneficial for me. I rest enjoyed the graphics provided in the kit as well.

Great Book Club Kit! I love downloading the book club kit companions for my books, being head of a book club, it makes my job easier to have this instead of typing and printing out pages. I hope more of these kits become available to download on Netgalley.

Very useful book club kit! It can be of great help for book club organizers and for people who need some challenging questions to help them think "deeper" about the book.
I appreciate a lot that there is a "further reading" list at the end!

This is an excellent book club kit that I would recommend for any book club. The discussion questions are great, and any group would benefit from them.

Ultimately this “book kit” had a page of praise for the book, a page with a couple questions the author answered, and a page with 12 questions. It’s pretty short, but I suppose it could help if you were leading a book club for Transcendent Kingdom (an incredible book, btw).

Some good insights and questions for a book club I was a part of. This kit presents some foundation to build a good discussion.

I downloaded this just a couple days before my large book club met virtually to discuss Transcendent Kingdom, and it was immensely helpful! The book itself was such a treasure trove of discussion topics, but this kit really helped identify some interesting conversation starters and ways to delve deeper below the surface of the story. It was great to hear some perspectives from Yaa Gyasi re: her narrative choices and put the book into better context for our understanding. Thank you NetGalley!

This is a really great book club kit! The discussion questions are very well written and would definitely facilitate an insightful conversation about the themes in the book. I also really love how the kit includes suggestions for further readings! Would definitely recommend this resource to anyone looking to read this book for a book club.

This is a useful document for books clubs to dig deeper into the novel, Transcendent Kingdom. Thought-provoking questions, author interview, and I especially loved the suggested reading list. Each book club kit is a little bit different and geared toward a specific book. Love it!

As the subtitle tells us, this book is about “innovations that changed the world” and they all happened in Boston, USA. The author profiles 50 world-changing innovations from telephones to transplants and informs us that Boston and area inventors have contributed to more than 400 social, scientific and commercial innovations, a figure that will no doubt ignite a warm glow in the hearts of Bostonians. A fun read.

My bookclub read Homegoing for our February pick and I decided to jump into Transcendent kingdom next. These kit was the perfect addition to our bookclub chat, and offered thoughts I may have missed on my own.
