Love Glennon! This book was a great inspiration to read. Grab it for your winter read. Hunker down and sail through the pages and be ready for a spring rebirth!
Fantastic kit for use in book club meetings. We struggle with discussing the book (we usually say a few worked about it and then start chatting about anything in general) and this will help us to stay on track.
I like seeing the resources NetGalley has for select books, so I picked this up because I recently (on the recommendation of a friend) read "Untamed". This is a little unusual in terms of NetGalley's book club kits—where others I've picked up have been multifaceted, incorporating things like book club questions and interviews and recipes and suggestions for readalike books, the BCK for "Untamed" is (almost) purely a reading group guide—about five pages of questions and one page of suggested activities to do with or without your book club.*
I find some of the questions more thought-provoking than others, which seems about right because it means that they're reasonably varied. A lot of them ask the reader to reflect on their own life and how it interacts with the themes in Doyle's book, but others ask the reader to consider the book's themes and craft more broadly. There are definitely way too many questions for any given book club to get through (this is a good thing), so if you make use of it in planning a book discussion, I'd recommend going through it carefully well ahead of time to decide which questions to prioritize.
It's been a while since I was in a book club proper, but long question lists make me think that I need to find a new one!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a free copy of this book club kit.
*Edit: Whoops! Realized that this book club kit is not a NetGalley resource but a publisher resource, which makes the different format make a great deal more sense. Either way, a useful set of questions for book clubs (or reviewers!) to use as a resource.
This Book Club Kit contains both discussion questions as well as more interactive activities to accompany a book club meeting about Untamed by Glennon Doyle. I thought the interactive 'enhance your book club' activities were very thought provoking and would definitely make a book club meeting more interesting. The discussion questions seemed interesting and would evoke some good discussions.
I do wish that this kit were slightly longer and contained more interactive activities such as a playlist or recipes etc. I would be slightly concerned if I were to use this for a book club meeting that I would run out of questions and activities too quickly. Additionally all the activities are discussion based and a lot of the questions are quite heavy and personal due to the nature of the book so I feel that the book club kit could have done with something for light relief.
Good overview and questions to spark discussion of the book. Seeing these questions made me realize there was more structure to the book than I first realized, especially as I listened to the audio book and didn't see the pattern visually.
Really great Book Club Kit for an even better book! This is a great book to use with a book club and the questions and ideas in this kit will be super helpful to the group!
Untamed is the kind of book that stays with you. The kind of book you want to discuss immediately after reading it and for years to come. The thoughtful questions in this kit allow you to connect with the story on a deeper level. They also serve as a great guideline for engaging group discussions.
A great guide that accompanies an even greater memoir! Untamed is one of those stories that sticks with you, helps you, and gives you the power to learn to value yourself. The way Glennon talks about her life is so inspiring. This guide is wonderful for every group discussion about this memoir, or if you want to go deeper with yourself in how you saw Glennon's story and how it impacts you and what you learned from it.
There are lots of questions in this guide. Some I would use and others I wouldn't use. The good thing about having lots of questions is that some will work and others won't.
Untamed, a soulful and uproarious journey penned by Glennon Doyle, is a literary masterpiece that seamlessly weaves together the intimate threads of a memoir with the resonating chords of a galvanizing wake-up call. In this transformative narrative, Doyle fearlessly bares her soul, inviting readers into the raw and unfiltered tapestry of her life, making it an utterly compelling and deeply relatable read.
The essence of Untamed lies in its poignant revelation that a responsible mother is not one who sacrifices her essence for the sake of her children but one who leads by example, demonstrating how to live authentically and unapologetically. Doyle's exploration of this realization is not only a personal odyssey but a universal call to reevaluate conventional notions of motherhood, womanhood, and selfhood.
Navigating the tumultuous waters of divorce and embracing the challenges of forming a new blended family, Doyle imparts invaluable wisdom on the true dynamics that shape a family's brokenness or wholeness. She contends that the essence of familial strength is not bound by traditional structures but hinges on each member's ability to bring their unbridled selves to the familial table.
Untamed, at its core, is a testament to the power of self-trust and the liberation that comes from setting boundaries, making peace with our bodies, and embracing our anger and heartbreak. Doyle encourages readers to unleash their truest, wildest instincts, providing a roadmap for women to reclaim their authenticity and confidently declare, "There She Is."
The prose in Untamed is a forceful and tender dance, oscillating between moments of gut-wrenching vulnerability and fierce determination. Doyle's writing is not just a literary expression; it's a call to action, urging readers to shed societal expectations, embrace their untamed nature, and embark on a journey towards self-discovery.
In the tapestry of Untamed, Glennon Doyle paints a vivid picture of resilience, empowerment, and the unyielding spirit of a woman determined to live life on her terms. This book is not merely a read; it's an experience that leaves an indelible mark on the soul, prompting introspection and inspiring a revolution of self-love and acceptance.
As if i didn’t already love this book… this book kit made me love it even more! I felt like it helped me connect to the book on another level.
So many Book Club members want to read this wildly popular book! I know this kit will be incredibly helpful as we discuss UNTAMED.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Opinions are mine.
The book club kit for Untamed by Glennon Doyle was very helpful. The questions were in depth which is something I really liked. Usually with book club questions it’s more of what did I like/not like. I thought the question regarding sensitivity was great as some could perceive it was inconvenient and others as something powerful and natural as you’re showing emotion.
I honestly wasn't a fan of this book, so I was curious to see if this book club kit would help me see at least a few parts in a different light. This book club kit had a few good questions to it! I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, but I think it'd do well attached to the ending of the book. This wasn't amazing but it also wasn't bad.
This book club kit was well thought out and put together. It not only included thoughtful questions broken up by sections of the book, but also some suggestions for other activities. The font was rather small, though, so it felt like a wall of text at times.
A Courageous Journey of Self-Discovery and Empowerment

This book offers a compelling narrative that will resonate with book club members seeking to explore themes of authenticity, personal growth, and breaking free from societal expectations.
One of the standout aspects of "Untamed" is Doyle's candid and unapologetic writing style. She lays bare her struggles, vulnerabilities, and triumphs, allowing readers to connect with her on a deeply personal level. Through her intimate storytelling, Doyle challenges traditional notions of femininity, marriage, and motherhood, encouraging readers to question societal norms and find the courage to embrace their true selves.
The book's central theme revolves around the idea of untaming oneself from the expectations imposed by others. Doyle shares her own experiences of unlearning societal conditioning and rediscovering her inner voice. Her journey serves as an inspiration for readers to reflect on their own lives and consider how they might break free from the constraints that hold them back.
"Untamed" is not just a memoir but also a call to action. Doyle's passionate advocacy for social justice, gender equality, and environmental awareness adds an important layer to the narrative. These themes provide ample material for book club discussions and can inspire readers to take meaningful action in their own lives and communities.
While the book's message is powerful, some readers might find certain sections overly repetitive. The author revisits similar themes and anecdotes throughout the book, which can make the pacing feel slightly uneven. However, the emotional depth and resonance of Doyle's words ultimately compensate for this minor flaw.
Doyle's storytelling is both captivating and relatable. Her vulnerability and authenticity create a strong connection with readers, inviting them to embrace their own imperfections and celebrate their unique journeys. Moreover, the book's conversational tone and accessible language make it an engaging read for book club members of various backgrounds and interests.
"Untamed" is a thought-provoking memoir that offers a roadmap for personal transformation and empowerment. Glennon Doyle's fearless honesty and unwavering advocacy make this book a valuable addition to any book club's reading list. Despite occasional repetition, the power of her storytelling and the book's universal themes of self-discovery and authenticity will leave readers inspired to untame themselves and pursue a life of personal fulfillment.
Untamed is so good! "This is how you find yourself." Those are such powerful words. I highly recommend reading the book and also using this book club kit. It is so useful to already have discussion questions already made for a book club. It is very much appreciated.
There are a lot of well thought out questions in this book guide. This is a must buy for fans of the book that love discussion questions!
I ate this book up. She gave so much of her authentic self when writing this book. I went into this knowing nothing about Glennon and yet I feel like I get her now. I really enjoyed the book club kit. It asked a lot of introspective questions instead of just comprehension. There are also a good amount of questions and sections to discuss if you were actually using this at a book club.
Books like Untamed benefit a lot from discussion in Book clubs - I am in India, so we have fewer of those here, and the book can certainly feel whitewashed, so it is good to have a guide like this as a jumping point for our discussions.
