This book was interesting and touched on a few important social issues that are very relevant in our time. I like that topics of conversation it brings up for book club!
This is an excellent book club kit that I would recommend for any book club. The discussion questions are great, and any group would benefit from them.
So, the character-themed cocktails thing was kind of fun but just sort of felt out of place. Plus, they were incredibly basic drinks so seemed like sort of a halfhearted effort that made it fall flat (despite how delicious a pina colada sounds, always).
I read this on my kindle device, and the typos for the "Discussion Questions" section were insane. So much so that I couldn't understand what the questions were. I'm guessing there might be some kind of formatting error in translating it over to kindle because, if not, this just didn't get proofread whatsoever.
Weirdly, I didn't have as many typos/formatting issues for the "Conversation with Kiley Reid" section (so my kindle may not be the culprit?) - in any case, that section was great. I always love hearing the author's perspective, and learning a little more about their background/inspiration. I was psyched to learn she's working on the film adaptation of the movie. And as an Iowan, it was fun to hear about some of her experiences at the Writer's Workshop. Those behind-the-scenes details are always a great addition to a good story.
This novel is one of my favorite reads for 2020 and 2021. It might be a great read for high school students about to go off to college, or a 20 something that needs to see the world from a different perspective. I loved every second of this novel. I cheered for the main character while my heart broke for her. Such a great investment of a reader's time.
Containing a variety of resources for book clubs, this is a wonderful starter kit that could be easily shared with all members of the book club to promote discussion and activity
I reviewed the book club questions in the kit and some of the other content. It gave me a sense of the book and some good ideas to enhance my book club's experience. Thanks for putting it together
Once again a great discussion oriented kit for book clubs. This time it's Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid. The kit itself features a set of discussion questions, an author interview, and a coloring kit for the front cover. I really like how these kits are united in having in depth discussion questions, but that they diverge in the other set of components. The coloring the cover idea is such a fun one, and one I haven't seen Book Club Kit do before this book kit. Just another way that groups can get more involved with a text and have fun.
This book club kit was enjoyable! The questions asked, really made me process more in depth what I had just read in the book. I did this book club kit with a friend and we both enjoyed the experience. Would recommend for a book club or you can even do it alone!
Great thought provoking questions for my bookclub. With such a good book it's always great to discuss amongst peers and fellow book lovers and these questions really allowed us to do so. Totally recommend.
Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for these questions.
I am reviewing the book club kit for Such a Fun Age. I have read the book in February 2021 and enjoyed it.
The book club kit has recipes for the cocktails (Perfect for entertaining at a book club) There are discussion questions, a question/answer with author. A bonus treat is a coloring page of the book cover.
I'm not sure if something was wrong with the download of this or if it just hasn't been edited at all, but the discussion questions for this book club kit were indecipherable. It was like some words were inserted into the middle of other words. I hope this was just a technical error and not going to publication. The about the author section did not have the same problem and gave insight as to why Reid wrote the book.
This short lil kit has some fun surprises like "character-themed cocktails", discussion questions, and a conversation with the author. I walked away from it extremely excited for the film adaptation of Such a Fun Age that she's currently working on.
The book club kit would be a decent addition to library copies and book club copies of the novel. I think the author interview at the end is great for adding a bit of context and reflecting the author's thought processes. I do think the questions could dig deeper into the context of the book in today's society as it is very relevant to today, but overall it would be a solid addition to a copy of the book or for distribution through a library.
I'm obviously stupid and didn't know what a book club kit was. All the same, this was fantastic. Amazing ideas and questions for discussion.
WOW, that's a great book club kit! The discussion questions were really intriguing and left the readers thinking a lot, and it helped in showing different perspectives along the book club members both in reading experience and comparing with real life situations. Seeing and comparing white and non-white readers dealing with the struggles shown on the book were one of the highs in the book club reunion.
Also, the interview with Kiley Reid was great! I was really excited to see the creative process of the author (I had some of my internal questions answered), and can't wait to see her second novel and the movie adaptation.
This is a great kit to have for book club discussions and to have while reading this book. Thank you to NetGalley, publisher, and author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
The discussion guide asks excellent, thought-provoking questions. Many that can’t be easily answered. I enjoyed how a few questions subtly asked readers to tie in their own experience paralleled to Emira, Alix, and Kelley. The interview with the author provided context for the novel and gave words to some feelings I’ve had about the book, like the complex relationship dynamics between mother and babysitter. This is a worthwhile read to further enjoy an excellent book.
This was a great book with so much happening in the pages. This book club kit really takes the guesswork out of preparing for a book club discussion. It is thorough and well organized and contains all the necessary elements for a great discussion.
This is a Book Club kit which I did not realize. I do want to read the book, but have not so I am unable to evaluate this kit.
At first I didn't realize this was a book club kit--I saw the cover and requested too quickly! I realize now that it is just discussion questions for going along with the book. I love this idea of providing thought-provoking questions to get people talking about Such a Fun Age. I definitely think this would be useful to a book club, buddy read, or anyone who just wants to think a little deeper about what they have read.
