Rose Levy Beranbaum is one of my favorite bakers in the whole world so I just knew I had to read this cookie book. I was not disappointed. I prefer my cookbooks to have lots of pictures and this one fit the bill. Gorgeous, full color pictures abound. The recipes in this book include so many different types and flavors! I really like that each recipe includes measurements for cups/tablespoons AND measurements by weight in grams. Baking is a real science and not very many cookbooks even give gram measurements at all. This book is a must for any home baker, especially those who love to make (and eat!) cookies as much as I do. This would also make a great gift for a young person, just learning how to bake as the recipes directions are easy to follow.

What a delightful cookbook! This book is full of easy to read and understand recipes. There is everything from basic cookies to more advanced options, making this a wonderful cookbook for those obsessed with cookies. I particularly liked that the recipes have a mise en place explanation, essentially if the recipe calls for room temperature butter this step of the recipe tells you when you should put out ingredients to get them to room temperature. I for sure will be trying out the Chocolate Sable recipe because they look scrumptious and I have never dipped my toe into Sable cookies. Make sure to add this to your cookbook collection! Happy Baking :D

Truly a cookie bible - its a gorgeous compilation of tried and true favorite cookie recipes, plus some new additions I've never seen before (but was excited to try)! One of my biggest criteria in looking for a good cookbook is the photographs - there is something about a gorgeous, glossy colored photo of food that draws me in and begs me to make it. This book is stunning for its photos. The recipes are easy to follow and provide measurements in both volume and weight. I love that almost all of the recipes have "baking gems" (aka tips and tricks). And finally, many of the recipes include variations that are as equally delicious as the base recipe.
In this digital age, cookbooks tend to be overlooked in favor of online recipe searches, but nothing can replace a gorgeous, hardback cookbook for me, and this is one I fully intend to purchase for my collection. I expect it will become a favorite in no time.

This is one of the best cookie recipe books I have read. So many interesting flavours!
This book was gorgeously layed out with beautiful pictures and very precise instructions. A great book for professionals and amateur bakers.
I will be buying this book to add to my collection.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is one of the most helpful cookbooks I've ever had the pleasure of using. Absolutely packed with classic recipes cover to cover. And the photos! Breathtaking!
I love the way the recipes are written, all the additional information and helpful tips, the communication style of the author, the multiple variations given with each recipe, I could go on and on. I worked through this book page by page and my family couldn't be more appreciative!
I am recommending this to everyone I know this holiday season. This is an absolutely perfect gift for any one who loves to spend time in the kitchen, beginner to professional!

There are SO MANY types of cookies in this book!
The layout is nice, especially the “baking gems” for every recipe. The steps are broken down nicely.
All the pictures are in color and are nicely sized. However, this book has many cookies that I have never seen before and I wish all the recipes have at least a small picture or two. I find that I am not inspired when the whole spread in a recipe is text.
For a family who wants to baking all different types of cookies with their kids and experiment in the kitchen, this would be a fun book. It would also work for people without kids. There is truly something for everyone.
For me, I cannot love a cookbook unless there is a picture for every recipe. I know that can be impractical and would make the book even larger and potentially more expensive. If you do not share my pickiness, this book might be for you.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fantastic collection of cookie recipes, I'll have to add this book to my collection of cookbooks! There are several recipes in this book that I haven't seen in any other book. The only cookie recipe book you need!

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy.
Rose Levy Beranbaum has got to be the most meticulous cookbook author working these days. This is another worthy addition to any collection (both professional or personal; I'll be buying a copy for my home library as well). Absolutely packed with delicious recipes, precise methods and cookies you won't find just anywhere.

Rose Levy Berenbaum's meticulously detailed recipes are guaranteed hits. I made dozens of cookies from half a dozen of the recipes, and every one was exactly as described. The "Baking Gems" provided with each recipe explain the why of the techniques, and warn the cook of the consequences (not always dire) of ignoring the technique.
I will admit that I found the recipes "fiddlier" than my traditional cookie stand-bys. It wasn't clear to me, for example, that browning the butter for the molasses cookies made a discernible difference. But when approaching a new-to-me cookie, I could rest assured that the recipe would be clear, easy to follow and sure to succeed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While it would take many pounds and perhaps a lifetime to make, (and consume), all of the different cookies in this book, I see many more cookies in my future.
Levy Beranbaum always infuses her special touch in her baking. For example: because certain ingredients contain a fair amount of water and normally you would just add it to the rest of the ingredients, she has you boil out the excess water to give you the essence of the ingredient without all of the moisture, (Pumpkin Pecan Cookies).
One of my personal favorites is a variation of the basic chocolate chip cookie, Cranberry Chocolate Chippers.
Levy Beranbaum always gives credit to her cookie contributors, family and friends.
One of my favorite things about this collection is that she incorporates cookies any cooking styles from all over the world, from Greek Kourambiethes which incorporate clarified butter to Middle Eastern specialties which are sesame seed based.
Techniques abound, From "stenciled" cookies, Langues De Chats, (Cat's Tongues), to hand formed cookies like Rugelach, she really gives us a chance to really dig in and play with our cookies. Face it we don't get enough fun in our cooking!
Ice cream sanwiches, to classic muffin flavors, and even biscotti we have a remarkable collection for any occasion and even some for "just because". From potlucks to children's parties, I don't see any reason why you couldn't find an appropriate cookie in this "Cookie Bible".
I happily received this book as an ARC from NetGalley and Mariner Books. All opinions are my own!

I read this book just in time for Christmas cookie baking, and found so many tantalizing recipes. From old favorites to new creations, there is something for everyone in this well written book.

I was so lucky to be able to read The Cookie Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum. I love cookbooks, and I love to just read them. This is one I plan on using all the time! I hope it is okay if I call the author Rose, because I feel like we have become friends. Rose has made a true "cookie Bible." She reviews each recipe, the ingredients, tools needed, and tips at the very beginning. She has was is called "Gems" which give tips and tidbits on each recipe. Also, with each recipe is the ingredients with the different units of measurements. I also love that she provides the different temperatures in the event you are not using the US temps.
This book is going to be my new cookie go-to. I already know I am making the Cranberry Chocolate Chippers for Thanksgiving! I also cannot wait to make the Melting Moments! They remind me of the wedding cookies we would splurge on as a kid. This book is just simply awesome! No other word to describe it!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

♡ Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Just like Rose's other cookbooks, THE COOKIE BIBLE is a quintessential guide to cookies, both traditional and classic. I love how detailed and specific each recipe is, although I do wish there was a photo of every single cookie in this cookbook.
This is sure to be my reference material for baking cookies for years to come!

This really is a cookie bible. From basic background on ingredients and methods, to meticulous instructions, The Cookie Bible is a perfect primer for new bakers interesting to start from scratch, or those wanting to elevate their game!
I loved the clear recipe structure and organization of the cookbook, as well as some flexible adaptations.
Thank you to Netgalley and Mariner Books for the ARC.

This gorgeous cookbook is a definite must for the cookie lover. Filled with decadent recipes, beautiful pictures, and tons of tips this cookbook does not disappoint. The variety of recipes is stunning, and I feel that whatever your mood or occasion, you will find a recipe that will appeal. Detailed, easy to follow instructions are included. As are many variations and also hints on how to achieve the very best result.

The Cookie Bible is a great comprehensive guide to all things cookie baking. I enjoyed reading through the tricks and techniques. I learned tons of new tidbits; for instance, you should have your oven preheating for 30-40 minutes before you bake- even if the oven says its up to temperature, its probably not.
Although I didn't get a chance to bake any of the recipes, I read through a few of them, the instructions were easy to follow, and the pictures looked divine!

Your cookie jar will overflow after browsing the delectable, delicious cookie recipes in The Cookie Bible. Award winning Beranbaum provides eight categories of cookies, ranging from hand shaped to holiday cutouts, so the variety should appeal to everyone. Not only are her mouthwatering recipes inviting, but the stunning photographs by Septimus are enticing, as well.
This book is well structured, with a recipe list for each grouping of cookies. The helpful tips on skills such as measuring, appear to be well-researched, as are the guidelines for equipment and ingredient selection.
I enjoyed reading the introduction to each recipe, offering descriptions, history, and anecdotes. International cookies such as Norwegian, German, French, and Italian add diversity to the outstanding collection. So many flavors will appeal to your taste buds, and I certainly noticed the cookies containing some of my favorite flavors, lemon, cranberry, and pumpkin. I'm excited about biscotti, as well. This beautiful book is a cookies lover's delight!
Thank you to Net Galley and Mariner Books for the advance reader's copy and opportunity to provide my unbiased review.

Another wonderfully comprehensive cookbook from Rose Levy Beranbaum. This would make an excellent gift for a baker, especially one just starting out because it covers almost every kind of cookie: Rolled by Hand, Dropped or Piped, Shaped by Hand, Rolled and Cut, Bar and Cake.
I can expect an excellent outcome with Rose's recipes but they aren't quick and easy. Always read through the recipe at least twice before starting because there are so many steps and details. I appreciate that thoroughness and attention to detail.
Also note there are variations of cookies that appear in some of her earlier cookbooks.
*I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I am required to disclose that in my review in compliance with federal law.

For cookbook enthusiasts, Rose Levy Beranbaum is a trusted legend. Her recipes and tips never steer you wrong. In The Cookie Bible there is every imaginable cookie configuration and it is "a kid in a candy store" exciting to flip through the pages and imagine baking some of the most spectacular treats. There are perennial favorites and fanciful delights that will make you a better baker just by reading the recipe. There is no better cookbook to give as a gift or put in your home library - Rose thinks of everything and helps troubleshoot to make sure the product turns out perfectly every time. It is all in the details, and this is the best cookie cookbook I've ever seen.
