Expect a lot of twists and turns in this book! Sarah and Steve lived together and have an almost 4-year-old son, Oliver "Ollie." They broke up and Steve is preparing to move in with Laura, a Hospice nurse he met while his father was in Hospice. Sarah is dating Joe, a guy she previously dated years ago, who divorced his wife Courtney because she cheated on him. Steve wants Sarah to start letting him take Ollie to spend the weekends at Laura's place. Once Ollie starts spending time there, Sarah begins to have bad vibes. There are lots of characters in this book and the story is told from the views of multiple characters. I enjoyed this complex story with all the family dynamics that evolved.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely gripping read! Unsure if it’s because I am a mother I could relate to Sarah’s sometimes seemingly overbearing thoughts & opinions but I could. Don’t want to give anything away but the ending was not what I expected. A superb twist and chilling in ever way!

This book is all about the judgements we make of each other and ourselves. Sarah and Steve are a separated couple who are both embarking on new relationships and trying to work out the new dynamics of parenting their son Ollie. Sarah’s intuition is telling her Ollie is in danger from Steve’s new partner Laura but could this just be paranoia and a fear of letting him go?

It is a great story, told from multiple character viewpoints and has plenty of red herrings along the way. I really enjoyed it and would recommend to those who enjoy a thriller... although perhaps not to those that are just bringing new step-parents into their children’s lives. It will be enough to make you paranoid.

I requested this from the blurb as it looked like a book that I would really enjoy and it certainly lived up to all my expectations, it’s slow paced but full of twists and a few different suspects and as it’s my first time reading anything by this author, it’s a great book to start with. I would like to thank the publishers and Netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Whisper. I like Sheryl Brownes books so when I receive one, I stop everything to read. This one had ALOT going on. Many plots but very fast reading. One of the characters who I was very surprised about at the end was annoying. If you are like me and try to figure out the one who is the most mental, you will be surprised with this ending. Enjoy!

After Sarah's four-year-old son Ollie returns from a visit with her ex-husband Steve and his new girlfriend Laura, she notices a change in her son's behaviour. His favourite teddy has been replaced with a new one, and he claims to have secrets he can't tell Sarah. She raises her concerns with everyone including Steve and also her new boyfriend Joe, but everyone thinks she is jealous and is over-reacting. Sarah begins to look into Laura's family and past and is disturbed by the things she finds. What will it take for anyone to listen to Sarah's concerns?

Another brilliant book by Sheryl Browne. The plot is thrilling, tense and exciting, and the characters interesting. I couldn't stop reading until I reached the shocking ending. A brilliant, thrilling story, recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

“The Whisper” is a slow burn that will keep you guessing to the very end.
Switching between several characters, this novel captures the lengths some will go to in order to protect those they love. With an alarming web of secrets, half truths and deceptive appearances, “The Whisper” by Sheryl Browne has all the makings of a well thought out and enjoyable thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Woken From A Nightmare... But Was It Just A Bad Dream? 💭 Definite Page-turner

The Whisper is told from a few perspectives. Sarah, fairly recently separated, mother to Ollie, meets with an old flame Joe; Joe, divorced which it seems is still painful for him; Laura, new girlfriend to Ollies Dad, who's past is also haunting her, still painful; Steve Ollies Dad, Sarah's ex.

What appears to be an amicable split between Ollies parents, after his first sleepover with his Dad and Laura, Laura shares a secret with Ollie that he's not to share with anyone. After Sarah senses a change in her son, she becomes aware of other things... just coincidences, or are they? that leaves her questioning who Laura actually is. A mother's intuition kicking in, or jealousy?

I was gripped from the first page through to the end. Throughout the book you begin to question various peoples behaviour, all is not always as it first appears. A story of coming to terms with the challenges of family life where you have to co-parent with new partners. Then one day little Ollie disappears... plenty of twists and turns, I had changed my mind a couple of times, who done it. A definite should read, I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what happened, then was disappointed it had finished when I did. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Clever writing.
Ollie comes back from his first sleepover with his dad and his new girlfriend, Laura, his mother Sarah senses a change in her son’s behaviour. Something happened last night. Something he won’t tell her about.
Tucking Ollie into bed, she notices his beloved teddy bear, which she bought him when he was born, is missing and in its place is a new toy given to him by Laura. When she asks Ollie about it, he begins to shift uncomfortably, before whispering ‘Laura told me a big secret and she said I can never tell you.’Sarah’s heart sinks. But when she raises her concerns, nobody wants to listen. To everyone else, Laura is the perfect stepmother and Sarah is just the jealous ex-wife.Soon Ollie is asking to spend more time with his dad and Laura, and shrinking away from Sarah
