As always, Helen draws you quickly into the story and keeps you hooked. This is the second on this series and I'm not totally convinced on the pairing of the two main police characters. These two just don't ring true enough as a partnership, maybe because the character of Jessie is underdeveloped. She seems to exist only to question the personal life of the DI and I have very little idea of her. Great story though, although I'd pegged the killer very early. Not the author's best in my opinion, but then, her best is above many other authors.

As usual with a Helen H Durrant book I read it in one sitting. A good story, she is an excellent storyteller! The second book in the series works pretty well as a standalone murder mystery. It's set in and around Manchester, so I also like trying to work out which towns she's describing.

Loved it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion

The Faceless Man by Helen H Durant
This is the second book in the Harry Lennox Series.
Harry appeared in the small town of Ryebridge at the beginning of the last book but his past keeps following him. He’s a great detective but is he who he says he is. This time Harry and his team are tracking down a hitman. Can they find him before he kills more targets.

Thank you Netgalley and Joffe books for this ARC. I loved the description of this book. The book started out great but then I started to lose interest because it was such a "police procedural" . I don't feel like I got to know the characters, so couldn't find a character I was rooting for until about 60% into the book. I got interested again, then lost interest again. I think this book would be great for people who love police procedural books and don't rally care about character development. I was unable to find this book on goodreads.
