I've enjoyed other books by this author SO much more than this one, which didn't appear as well thought-out and was honestly really hard for me to buy into, due to all the contradictory information. The action & pace are on-point, but unfortunately the relationships didn't seem real- Ava & Caden were supposed to be best friends growing up, but didn't seem to know each other at all. I also found Ava & her family's backstory to require a major suspension of disbelief in numerous ways - why didn't the killer come after her brother or mother, both of whom would have been just as easy to locate? Ava questioned her father's love for her mother vs. another woman, which was never fully explained. And how would he have met with her secretly and managed to hide all his family's photographs or real identity without her mother/ brother getting suspicious? Also, there really wasn't any mystery to be solved - readers knew the culprit from the beginning, although his rationale also never really came together. For a book that is marketed as a clean & Christian read, I also found it too disturbing as there was needless killing of children and talk of torture chambers & instruments. This being said, the author does have a gift for crafting suspenseful romantic thrillers, and I've enjoyed her other books.
This book is a wonderful addition to this series. This book is action packed with a wonderful romance. Caden is trying to protect Ava from serial killer. This killer is man from Ava's father past. We are reunited with all the characters from Danger Never Sleeps series. This book is non stop action. I totally recommend this book for anyone who loves romantic suspense. Lynette is gifted story teller.
A contemporary romantic suspense
Danger Never Sleeps book#4
What this book has to say:
Ava Jackson recently discharged from the military joins FBI Special Agent Caden Denning on assignment to catch a serial killer targeting military families. Caden needs her help before anyone else is harmed. He thinks Ava may hold the key to the murders of three families of men who defected from Russia during the cold war. The investigation becomes very personal when Ava is attacked leaving her mother’s nursing home triggering a fight to survive......
What I think:
This books although part of a series stands well by its own. The focus in this series was on group of friends discharged from the military after serving in Afghanistan, each book tells a different story. “Hostile Intent” ends this wonderful series with a bang.....
This book does not disappoint, it is well-written in a clean language and gives us a plot filled with non-stop-action and plenty of suspense .A real page-turner that provides us with a tad of teasing romance throughout but leaves out hot crazy scenes we sometime read...We have enough twists and turns to keep us guessing and us turning page to see if we are right...There is a lot of tension and the pacing is perfect for this scenario. This is cleverly thought-out thriller. Entertaining and one that kept me attention from cover to cover...well-done
Action-packed from start to finish! Lynette Eason is a go-to author for me and she knocked it out of the park with this book as well. It was a fantastic ending to this series. She does an amazing job writing nail-biting suspense with romance that is believable. The character development is wonderful. I didn't want to put this book down which is how I feel about all of her books. :) This one is definitely a favorite of mine.
Author Lynette Eason once again captured my attention and intrigued me with her fourth installment of the Danger Never Sleeps series, Hostile Intent. This refreshing series features heroines with military backgrounds and unique skill sets which I find both fascinating and enjoyable.
In Hostile Intent, the most recent release of the series, Eason delivers a suspenseful story interlaced with the perfect amount of intensity, romance, mystery and dramatic events. This fast-paced read kept me devouring the pages with the heart-pounding turn of events.
The main characters, former Navy analyst Ava Jackson and FBI Special Agent Caden Denning, both face ordinary interpersonal struggles making them relatable and believable. Ava surprised me with her hidden talents and cunning skills. Caden was both strong and supportive in his role in Ava’s life and it was sweet how he stepped into the role of her protector. I enjoyed seeing the childhood friendship between these two grow, change and blossom into a new romance.
There were beautifully woven threads of faith, friendship, and family throughout the book, carefully and intentionally balanced with horror, mystery and riveting, dramatic events.
Overall, this was an excellent romantic suspense story that kept me interested, intrigued and enthralled. I found Hostile Intent to be a satisfying story that fit this genre very well, having all the earmarks of a great suspense novel. I believe this story is appropriate for mature readers 16+ and is clean.
Please Note: This story, while delicately shared and without too much detail, does include the murder of children and inclinations towards human torture.

This book would make a great movie. It has believable characters, a fascinating plot, lots of action, a sense of danger and urgency, and even some humor and romance. It checks all the boxes for me. I could hardly put it down.
Ava is a complex woman. She found out her dad had a secret life when she was in her teens and has been forced to lie ever since. It's hard to know who and how to trust when you know how easy it is to fool someone else. When she finds out that some murders may have a connection to her, she is determined to find out all she can. She hopes it will give her some closure regarding her father.
I appreciated Caden and his persistent presence in Ava's life. He accepts her for who she is and even admires her unique gifts rather than being put off by them. I found myself rooting for him to break through Ava's defenses.
This was a great read. It was nice seeing characters from prior books in the series. It was a satisfying conclusion to the danger never sleeps series. I'd highly recommend it.
Ava Jackson lost her father while she was deployed in the military. Now, her mother is ill and her time is short. Ava wants to be with her in her last days, so she left the military to return home. She spends a lot of her time visiting with her mother in the facility where she is being cared for. Ava was attacked while leaving the facility. She soon learns that her attack may be connected to families that are being murdered.
Caden, whom Ava had a serious crush on when she was a young teen is now an FBI agent. He believes Ava may be able to help solve the mystery behind the murders. As things unfold, it appears someone also wants Ava dead. It seems to be connected to Ava's father. She discovered the truth about him when she was only fifteen years old and has lived the rest of her life lying to protect him, her brother and her mother. She never let any man get close enough to get past the second date. How could she possibly be involved romantically and be deceptive about her father? But, as she and Caden work together she finds herself caring for him more than she feels she should.
Lots of action and suspense in this story. A little romance, as well. If you like this type of story, as I do, then this one is a must read!
I was given an advanced copy by the publisher, Revell and Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Story Notes
Lynette Eason delivers the last story in the Danger Never Sleeps series that will reveal secrets that have been long hidden and an unexpected chance at love.
This series has been a good one that carried good ties with the characters but also allowed each story to stand well alone. Cade and Ava are the focus of this one and I honestly think this one was my favorite. There was plenty of intrigue, secrets, puzzles and a "bad guy" that kept everyone guessing what he would do next. The investigation described was well done and put us right in the middle of the case, giving us a good look at all that was seen, heard and found. Ava was a wonderfully flawed character who truly knew that the secrets she carried could make anyone in her life a target of some really terrible people. She was willing to sacrifice a good relationship with Cade to keep him safe and ensure he didn't have to keep secrets too. Cade was a strong character who wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to sticking by Ava. Though her secrets are dangerous, he's not willing to give up on a chance at love to remain in the dark about them. Together they made a good team that I wanted to cheer for and was happy to see end up together by the end. That's not to say it wasn't a fight but that it was good to see them really fight for those things that are truly important in life - love and family.

Hostile Intent, the fourth installment in award winning author Lynette Eason’s Danger Never Sleeps series, is a satisfying conclusion and my personal favorite in the series.
Childhood friends, hints of romance, and a thrilling and realistic storyline that will have readers eagerly wanting to find out what happens next...the recipe for a wonderful romantic suspense novel. Although the romance is a bit lighter than I generally prefer, the brilliant and captivating storyline and thorough character development makes this book a must read for fans of romantic suspense.
Hostile Intent is highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense, especially those who enjoy books by authors such as Dani Pettrey, Lynn H. Blackburn, Rachel Dylan, and Irene Hannon.

Hostile Intent is definitely one of the best books I have read this summer. It is hands down my favorite installment and perfect ending to the Danger Never Sleeps series. I really liked Ava and Caden as characters and found the romance aspect to be very believable because they had known each other for so long. I must warn you that you will want to read this book when you have a good bit of time to read because you won't want to put it down. It is complete with adrenaline pumping page-turning action and suspense. In other books I have read by Lynette Eason, I have liked how she often gives readers the villain's point of view and she did it well in this story. As a fan of her Blue Justice series, I also appreciated some character connections to those stories as well. This one definitely can be read as a standalone, but it does give lots of updates on couples from the other books in the series so keep that in mind.

This entire series was incredible! Lynette Eason is auto pre-order author me. This was her best series yet, and this was definitely one of the better books in the series; possibly my favorite!
This story has so many layer and secrets, it will keep you guessing until the very end! This is a read you fly through at breakneck speed, and the mourn how quickly you read it!
Families are being murdered, but what does that have to do with Ava? Discharged early from the Navy to care for her aging mother, Ava is living a more quiet life than she has in years. After visiting her mother, she is attacked, and agent Caden Denning is there to help. He then reveals a possible tie to the killings that are happening around the country, and she is all in to help him solve the mystery.
Will they catch the killer before he catches Ava? WHEW! This book is as action packed as it sounds, and I already want more! While the story wrapped up nicely, Caden and Ava's future is a little open ended. I'm secretly hoping Eason will give us an entirely new series with Ava and her new colleagues!
I received a copy of this book digitally via NetGalley. I also ordered a copy from Baker Book House. I read and reviewed this book voluntarily, and all opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
It's another riveting suspense novel from Lynette Eason. Having read the other books in the series, I was expecting Caden and Ava to be thrown together and I really liked that though we knew of Caden from previous novels, we really got to know him in this one. Ava was mostly on the periphery previously so it was also nice to get to know her. As usual, the author sets out an intricate plot with carefully planted details that all come together in the end. The suspense is absolutely riveting even when we know the villain from the beginning since he has an active voice in the story. There are flashbacks to catch us up on Ava's childhood as well as a wonderful crossover secondary character from Vow of Justice (the author's Blue Justice series). Caden and Ava's romance is sweet and natural, especially since they grew up together. The villain's methodology in fulfilling his 'mission' made me a little uneasy but I get that this was to show how he came to be the villain that he is. It's a well-written conclusion to another great suspense series by the author.

Ava Jackson has had to live a lie since she was 15 years old and found out her father's secret. Now her father is dead and his past is haunting Ava. When families are being murdered Ava is a connection she needs to understand in order to keep herself and her family safe. Caden Denning works for the FBI. He and Ava have been friends since they were children. Now it is up to him to keep her safe. Ava has always kept herself aloof knowing that she would probably never marry. After all, when one marries she figures there should be no secrets. Ava knows that she needs to share her secret with Caden, but can she trust him with something that will put him in danger as well?
I think this is my favorite book of the Danger Never Sleeps series. It was exciting and romantic and perfect! I loved Caden and Ava's characters. I loved how strong Ava was and how she was able to protect herself. I also loved that Caden let her be a strong woman but also was there to help her when she needed him. A perfect ending to the series and once again shows why Lynette Eason is a favorite author of mine!
This is another great Christian romantic suspense novel from Eason. The action is nearly continuous. The suspense is balanced well with character thought and personality development. The plot is complex but works well. The current murders are based on actions from years ago. That fact keeps hidden crucial information needed to stop the murders until it's almost too late.
I like the addition of family relationships to the plot structure. Ava is loyal to her father's memory and insists on being part of the investigation into her father's potential role in the current murders. The murderer is also loyal to family but with deadly consequences. Eason presents readers with a real contrast in what family loyalty can mean.
I liked Ava as a heroin. She is a strong and capable woman. She may make a wrong decision from time to time but she has the intelligence and strength to make it through dangerous situations. I am always a bit surprised when an author has an FBI agent develop romantic feelings for someone involved in his investigative work but it works in this situation.
This is a good novel for readers who like lots of suspense with a capable heroine at the center of it all.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Hostile Intent follows Ava Jackson and Caden Denning as they discover secrets left behind by Ava's father. Who was he and how is he connected to the killer murdering entire families? In this fast paced, adrenaline laced novel we weave through a world of FBI and CIA to determine who and what Ava's father was. An interesting story that kept my attention until the end. I would have appreciated a little more depth on the secondary characters, but overall you will not be disappointed in this new Lynette Eason. Enjoy!
Hostile Intent is the fourth - and final - book in the Danger Never Sleeps series and I’ve been so looking forward to it!
I love when you get to start a new book already knowing the characters, and I’ve loved Caden since we first met him in the first book in the series, so I was definitely looking forward to his (& Ava’s) story.
And I wasn’t disappointed! It had all the suspense and twists, and I did NOT guess correctly! So top marks for that!
Plus it had that extra character development that has been a feature of this series, and I loved that Caden and Ava had a shared history! It gave the story a different dynamic that I really enjoyed. Because it’s not exactly a second chance romance, but it totally still has some of that vibe about it…
Honestly, nothing but good things to say here. All my romantic suspense fans out there, get yourself a copy!!
Thank you @revellbooks and @netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC! I was only required to provide an honest review in return.
What an suspenseful, action filled ending to this series. This was realistic, scary and comfy all at the same time.
We haven't really met Ava in this series. She was mentioned, but this was the first time we met her. I actually thought the 4th book would be about Kat who went MIA in this series after book 2. I'm still hoping for a book about her. Back to Ava. I loved her inner strength, courage and crazy skills.
Caden I loved since meeting him in book one, and loved his story. Though he is a strong FBI agent, he used Ava's skills instead of trying to bury her in protectiveness. And the way he wooed her was sweet and had me laughing at the end.
The suspense! Oh, thank you again to this author who again gave me a trilling suspense with a realistic plot and crazy twisted killer. I can't say more without giving anything away. This is probably Lynette's best work to date.
Hostile Intent is book four in the Danger Never Sleeps series by Lynette Eason. This story basically takes off shortly after the third books end so it is best to read these in order. The story does give background information so it also makes a good stand alone story.
This is a very well written story with strong characters. It takes off running and doesn’t stop until the end. This is a fast paced story, full of action and suspense with little break in the action, so hard to put down. While this is a Christian story, this is basically a good clean story with minimal Christian reference. The theme of trusting runs through the story. This story focuses on Ava and Caden and their friendship that builds into a relationship. We also see the relationships they each have with their parents and siblings.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Revell Publishing through NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
“Hostile Intent” is book four in and the conclusion to, Lynette Eason’s Danger Never Sleeps series. I loved book one, two and three so was looking forward to this one. Action-packed thriller is what I expected, what caught me off guard was the brutality of it. The writing is, as always with this author, well done. It’s fast paced and the characters are easy to empathize and connect with.
However, the back cover write up gives the reader little warning that at the centre of this investigation will be the murder of whole families. It opens with three such incidents and then, a teenager who is the lone survivor of his family, becomes a narrator in the story. I skimmed the family murder scenes in the first few chapters hoping I could continue but when the child is given a voice of pain and suffering, I was nauseated by his trauma, though fictitious. At 25%, I chose to skip to the end, having read the balance of the series, I wanted to know how it all turned out. The conclusion was satisfying, and good triumphs.
I acknowledge it may be that I’ve changed since book three, the world has seen such trauma. I have found I’m less able to cope with it in my entertainment. This book may be just the thriller you’re looking for, but perhaps read the first 10% before choosing to purchase it to get a taste of the story. For me, it’s a 2 out of 5 on the enJOYment scale.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Revell through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Y’all know I love a good opening line, and Lynette Eason is a master at setting the hook firmly and early. “Today, the watching ended and the killing started.” How in the world was I supposed to put down Hostile Intent after reading that? There was only one answer: finish it.
The fourth book in Lynette Eason’s Danger Never Sleeps series focuses on Ava Jackson and Caden Denning, who we already know from their roles in the first three books. Since Ava’s dad passed away 8 months ago, she has been faithfully attending to her mother, who is near the end of her life. Ava has just been discharged from the Navy and is still trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life, but she knows that she will continue to say no every time her dad’s friend John tries to recruit her into the CIA. She’s tired of the lies her dad had to tell to protect his family and determined not to spend the rest of her days lying to the people she loves in order to protect them. When Caden, FBI Special Agent and Ava’s childhood friend, finds a photo of Ava and her dad at a murder scene, he knows she is somehow connected to the victims and may be a target. He finds himself working with her to unravel the details of the string of murders while trying to keep her safe… and trying to convince her to fall in love with him in spite of her trust issues. Eason packs punches, chases and a room designed for torture into this breakneck paced storyline that will keep you turning pages until the very end.
Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me a copy to read and review. All opinions expressed here are my own and are completely genuine.
