I could not put this book down the author did not disappoint at all that's for sure. Through most of the book it was completely action packed and has you on the edge of your seat. It also feels very much like you are right there. I loved Ava she just went through so much and so many emotions but would let nothing or no one stop her from finding the truth, she was a true fighter. Caden was there to fight for the rights of everyone and get to the bottom of truth and trying to protect Ava without loosing his heart. I really enjoyed reading about the friends of the characters too it felt more like a family then just friends. The author had no problem making you really really dislike the bad guy either but then make you feel bad for him a little too. Overall this book was an amazing read and I can't wait to see what the author does next with this group of friends.
This was an exciting, fast page turning, book. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. I was drawn in pretty quickly and made short work of finishing it. I would say this is a 90% stand alone book. There are a couple of events referenced (that really have no bearing on the story) that I would have liked to know the backstory of. This was good enough to make me want to find the first 3 books.
Danger Never Sleeps book 4, Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason has been one of my favorite books I have read to date this summer (and I have been reading a significant amount lately ;). The intense plots, excellent characters, web of intrigue, as well as many heart-stopping situations are only a few of the reasons why I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend this book. From the first page of her works, Ms. Eason always grabs her reader's attention. Oftentimes Ms. Eason gives her readers a look into the criminal's mind or perspective before the reader knows his or her identity, which gives her readers a greater sense of mystery and intrigue, perhaps even adding chills to the reader's experience. Hostile Intent does not disappoint the excellent track record of Ms. Eason and I highly recommend it as another exciting action-packed adventure in the Danger Never Sleeps series.
Ava Jackson has just finished her military career earlier that planned because of her mother's declining health and has moved to be closer to her friends to have a healthy support system. Ava has already dealt with much loss in her young life, having lost her father while on deployment and now dealing with her mother's imminent death. What Ava doesn't need is more on her plate, but she is soon forced to be in the direct path of what seems to be a huge plot of murder, revenge, betrayal, and pure evil. Can she decrypt the truths from the lies? What does her attack have to do with the targeted killings of three families? Does Ava's family have anything to fear? Can Ava stay alive long enough to bring the criminal to justice?
Caden Denning has known Ava as his sister's best friend and a good friend of his for most of his life, but discovers that Ava has more secrets and layers to her personality and past than he was aware of. Caden is a highly-trained FBI agent and cannot help but investigate and try to protect Ava when she is threatened and attacked. But as Ava and Caden dig into Ava's attack and the other murders, Caden is left perplexed by Ava's father's secret life as a government secret agent. Ava is relieved to finally be able to share with her friend the true story of her father's line of work, which also explains some of her seemingly strange knowledge and skills (self-defense, language abilities, etc.).
Caden and Ava then turn to investigate her father's death as he seems to be tied to the families targeted by the unknown killer. What they discover shocks them both and leads to further investigation and heightened measures of safety. Can they find the killer before anyone else is harmed? What does Ava's father have to do with this plot? Can Caden protect Ava from this evil plot? Will Ava and Caden's friendship be able to stand the strain of this incredibly stressful time? Read Hostile Intent to find out for yourself?
I am definitely a sucker for a good romance story and I have to say that I am a fan of Ava and Caden's sweet friendship turned to romance. I also appreciated how both Ava and Caden placed their trust in God and held their faith firm throughout all the trials they faced. It was also sweet to see how they trusted each other and grew in their own areas of weakness. Overall, I was impressed by the characters in this book as well as the intense and twisted plot, not to mention the excellent storyline and other background characters. What an exciting book full of enough adventure for several books! Happy reading!

This is one of the best romantic suspense books that I have ever read! From the very beginning, it was captivating, with a scene from a home that was as mesmerizing as it was devastatingly awful. The story of Ava Jackson meeting up with her childhood crush Caden Denning was fascinating, but the crux of the story was a serial killer who was wiping out entire families, including the young children. The motive behind these evil actions is the center of the story and what kept me reading at a rapid pace to find out. From the first murders until the breathtaking last scenes, this was a non-stop runaway train of a book. The details of the crime scenes are not graphic so they did not disturb me, but just the thought that entire families were wiped out instantly was enough to make me want to do who would do such a thing. The plot is wrapped up in international intrigue and Ava’s secretive father is involved in a great deal of what is happening, so she seems to be a focus of the killer, too. Caden is her self-appointed protector and a real hero just when she needs one. With her father declared dead, her mom dying and a killer on her trail, Ava decides to trust Caden with her life. The characters were realistic and well-rounded, the type of person I would want to meet and be friends with. I was enthralled by the work that the FBI analysts did, especially Daria, who was intuitive as to needs and how to find solutions when there seemed to be none. I enjoyed seeing the FBI portrayed as capable heroes as they should be. I especially enjoyed Ava’s intelligence in figuring out puzzles and clues left behind by her father as well as her grit and determination to seek the truth at all costs. There were definitely some unlikeable characters, but that is by design, because who can like a villain who kills families or anyone involved with him? I just loved this book from cover to cover and think that is is the best of the series although any of them can be read as a standalone. My favorite part of the book? It was a clean read! No expletives, steamy sex or graphic displays of violence. Kudos to the author for writing explosively good romantic suspense that appeals to readers who don’t want any of the distasteful elements in their books.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was complex, enjoyable, and entertaining. The characters were intense while being completely entertaining. This is considered Christian fiction but anyone could read it.
I have loved Lynette Eason’s writing ever since I first read one of her books in highschool. I have loved the rest of the Danger Never Sleeps series and was (not so) patiently waiting for the final book in the series. Well it did not disappoint. The suspense, the romance, the intrigue. Everything came together to make a fantastic book. If you have read any books by Lynette Eason, then you know what to expect. This book was action packed, included some sweet romantic moments, and is tied together with a fantastic Christian message.

Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
** “It’s funny how life can throw you a curve ball when you least expect it — or how God can change your perspective.” **
Once again Lynette Eason delivers an incredible suspense thriller with “Hostile Intent,” the fourth installment of her “Danger Never Sleeps” series.
Now out of the Navy, Ava Jackson isn’t convinced her father is truly dead. And when she mysteriously gets pulled into a number of recent horrific murders, she only becomes more sure her doubts have validity.
As she and her childhood crush, FBI Special Agent Caden Denning, work together to solve the murders and their connection to her and her presumed dead father — and his mysterious past — they find themselves struggling to stay one step ahead of the perpetrator, all while fighting their feelings for one another.
Eason is always brilliant in developing a fast-paced, action-packed, heart-thumping thriller with just enough romance to curl your toes. Always filled with strong women, she creates relatable characters with real flaws and issues.
“Hostile Intent” does deliver some great themes, too, like we can trust in God when we’re afraid; we all at times need someone to have our backs; it’s hard to be vulnerable; what can happen when hatred and bitterness nourish our soul; and sometimes God has a greater plan for us than we can imagine (“It just went to prove that whatever she prayed for, if God said no, it was because he had something better in mind for her. And she was okay with that.”)
Fans of authors like Irene Hannon, Carrie Stuart Parks, Janice Cantore and Terri Blackstock will love this novel.
Five stars out of five.

Eason's suspense is always great and I loved this series. Great ending!
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read an advanced copy.
This is the Danger Never Sleeps book #4, the final in the series. As one of my favorite authors, this book didn’t disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat and at times holding my breath. Finally we get some answers and closure. Don’t miss out on this fabulous series!!
Action galore!! Hostile Intent is the fourth book in The Danger Never Sleeps series. This is my favorite one. It starts out with a bang and never stops until the end. I loved the characters and storyline was incredible. If you want a nail biting suspense with some romance, then I recommend this book. Even though it's in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. In fact, I hope she does a spinoff of this book and start a new series with Ava and Caden. That would be awesome!
*I was given a copy of this book by Revell Publishers and this is my honest opinion.
What a fantastic romantic suspense. Ms. Eason has written another winner. A real edge of your seat page turner plot that kept me glued to the pages. If your a fan of suspense you will love this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Best of the series!
So much to love about this suspense novel:
- Childhood friends reconnecting
- Hidden career of main character Ava's father
- Hidden skills of Ava! Wow! She's tough beneath the exterior.
- Lots of action
- All plausible
This was a hit of a novel for me. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
This was heart-pounding suspense at its best! Lynette Eason did a wonderful job with this story and wove a web of deceit that was intense. I didn’t want to put the book down! Highly recommended.
I had a really hard time getting into this book until 3/4 of the way in. There's just something different about this series that I just didn't draw me in like her other books have. It was pretty obvious who the attacker was and there wasn't a lot of suspense around it. But once you find out who is alive and why, you start to feel bad for Ava. I really would have enjoyed a lot more mystery and suspense at the beginning of the book. It just felt like it took a while to build the story up.
I would still give this book a 4 out of 5 because I did enjoy it. It was a good conclusion to this series.
This book was incredible. I loved Ava and Caden so much. The patience and understanding he shows her is incredible, and an example we could all learn from.
This action packed story kept me up past my bedtime more than once, and had me reaching for it during any down time I had.
I loved this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series!
Excellent read! This book is full of secrets, the KGB, CIA, sudden murders which must connect some way, and a fast tract suspenseful ride.
While in more recent days, scandal has surrounded the FBI and CIA, most of us do not realize some of the great sacrifices many of the “little people” play on a daily basis to help keep our nation safe.
Having read the previous books in this series, it was nice to have the four couples stories tie together. However, this is very much a stand alone book.
Once started, you will not want to put this book down. The author adds clues and information in just the right places to keep the suspense at its highest peak.
Yet again Lynette has captured and held my attention with this book. The characters are so real in my head as I was reading and I was not able to put the book down. It was such a reminder that God is in control, that family matters and we need to live in the moment, remembering Gods love.
This was my first experience with this series. I almost quit reading due to the violence in the first few chapters. Once I became acquainted with Ava I could not stop reading this page turner. Exciting, romantic tale. The other couples add interest and joy. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.
Another heart-pounding story from Lynette Eason! Hostile Intent is very well-written and will definitely captivate readers. Even though I appreciate Eason’s writing style and ability to create intriguing characters, the suspense genre just isn’t a favorite of mine. I can confidently say, however, that readers who enjoy this genre will definitely want to give Hostile Intent a shot. 3.5/5 stars
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was everything I wanted for this book!!! Spies, history colliding with the present, childhood friends, suspense and action... SO GOOD!!!
The only complaint is that the story seemed too short! I feel like we could have had more time but that's probably just because I wanted to keep reading :) I couldn't put the book down and the action was intense.
I really don't understand the kids. I kind of can understand the rest but not the kids. And maybe I missed something in my heart-pounding read, but is the survivor just going to live with family? That seemed not quite wrapped up. Oh wait, maybe that's what the sixteen-year-old thing was about!!
Caden and Ava were awesome. I also loved the relationships between all eight characters throughout the books. Getting to see where the others are at is always fun.
