So You Want to Build a Library was a fun and cheerful story for book loving kids. The artwork was cute, the ideas were quirky, and it had all the essentials (and more!) for an awesome children’s library!

It was a whimsical picture book that was enjoyable and light for young children.

Thank you to NetGalley and Capstone for the digital ARC in exchange for a review.

In "So You Want To Build a Library" we are taken on a journey of one kid building a library perfect for themselves. I loved it! I loved reading as a kid and wanted a place where all my favourite characters and the comfiest reading nooks were. I think the book is cute with lots of humorous and detailed drawings that tell the story more than the actual words do.

Okay, can I work in this library? I feel like I'd be the perfect librarian to work with dragons and a full-service Sundae Bar (!!!! yes please!).

This book was super cute and I always love a good picture book about loving your library! Fun and bright illustrations, I would recommend this to family's who are just introducing their children to the library or use it in a storytime with school visits for younger kids to encourage them to come to the library (although I couldn't promise them ice cream, unfortunately).

I would buy this for our collection!

I was disappointed in this book, as it could've been just a bit better. I wish the author would've talked about why the library had comfy places to read and escape, not just discussing adding things to the library. It is cute, but not one I'd add to my personal collection.

Absolutely adorable! This story is about a girl who imagines building her perfect library. It includes ladders, slides, and even a sundae bar! The writing is magical and the pages are colorful. Little readers will devour this book and will dream of their own perfect library. The possibilities are endless. I can see this book being read over and over again. Very enjoyable!

This book was adorable! As a child I was fascinated with libraries and wanted to spend all my free time there. I loved being around other people who loved books as much as I did. I would recommend this children's books to any of my friends with children. I would love to build my own little library and have this book in there for children to borrow!

A cute book about a little girl who wants to build a huge library so she recruits all the fictional characters in her books to help her build one. What would you add to the library? Bright and colorful illustrations make this a wonderful read for kids of all ages. I highly recommend it. Thanks so much to #netgalley for the early review copy.

So You Want to Build a Library by Lindsay Leslie is an enchanting tale of young girl's dreams of building a library. Every reader will connect to her desire to fill the most magical place with every whimsical desire. Who wouldn't want to live in a place filled with books, trampolines, reading nooks, a sundae bar, AND a bathtub! I smiled the whole time I experienced this adventure.

This beautiful book has fantastical ideas letting your imagination soar with plans for building your own magical library. This gorgeous book would be a wonderful addition to any home library, both children’s and adult’s. I adore stories about libraries and books. It is such a fun connection to reading.

It would have been nice to see just a few pages with ideas for kids to take their book collection (digital as well) and create their own home library without having to have TONS of stuff. Maybe creating things for the space rather than finding them.

I highly recommend this book. Great gift for a lover of books! Amazing illustrations!!!

Thank you so much Capstone, Lindsay Leslie and NetGalley for providing me an ARC version of this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you got the chance to build your own library, what would you put it in? Books, of course, but what else? A giant comfy reading chair? A cozy little nook? Maybe a giant slide! So You Want to Build a Library explores just that concept. It is funny, imaginative, and bright. It would go great with a conversation about what your child would want in their dream library, as well as why some of the sillier ideas might not be such a good plan (an ice cream sundae booth sounds great until your books get all sticky!)

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

I read this book with my daughter. She absolutely loved it. It's a cute story about a girl who builds her own library and gosh does her imagination run wild in the most fun way! My daughter wishes a library like the one in the book actually exists but then again, this book made her believe that she can make one herself one day just like the girl in the book!

This is an adorable picture book that really calls to all bibliophiles young and old. I think any book lover would enjoy having this book on their shelves. The illustrations are colorful and fun and really give you a sense of the joy of reading. I think every reader has imagined what it would be like to build their own dream library and while the book is geared toward children, I think adults can feel the same sense of wonder while reading its pages. It will at the very least put a smile on your face.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing this ARC.

So You Want To Build a Library is charming and delightful! As an adult who grew up “in the stacks”, this storybook brings out a lot of happiness and the ongoing desire to share books with everyone, big and small. Beautifully illustrated and has all the characters a kid could want - Dragons! Giants! Sloths! all written and delivered in a charming way.
I happily look forward to seeing this title in print - and even adding it to my Little Free Library, too!

Every book - and library is made better by dragons.

Well, obviously.

And don't forget about TEENY TINY NOOKS for teeny tiny fairies with their teeny tiny books.

Oh my goodness gracious, be still my heart! THIS BOOK.

Who hasn't dreamed of building their own library and filling it with floofy chairs, water slides, a bathtub, dragons, fairies and much, much more?! I, for one, am waiting for my own personal library to curl up in with my giant, dragon and fairy friends. *taps foot impatiently*

Anyways, this is super cute and a lovely book for kids!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Capstone for my copy of So You Want To Build a Library by Lindsay Leslie in exchange for an honest review. It publishes August 1, 2021.
I had the help of an eight year old book lover in the reading of this book!
This book was so beautifully illustrated, all of the bright colors, and the hilarious illustrations that went along with the hilarious text were quite the hit! I found it to be super imaginative and fun to read out loud!
This would definitely be great in a classroom or home library!

Cute book for young primary school-aged kids. The book is well illustrated with 1-2 short sentences per page. For the limited text, there is a lot of page-turning but the colourful pictures make it worthwhile.

It's lovely to witness the adventure the character goes on in order to create this perfect library. I enjoyed many aspects of the book but all in all felt it was quite average. I think children will enjoy it once but not necessarily want to keep revisiting it. As a result, it's the kind of book you loan from the library as opposed to buy.
