This was an interesting take on mindfulness reminders for an early reader. I want to praise the diversity of characters in the book. Representation matters and the small group of friends scooting together did not all look the same so that was extremely welcome. Second the story did an excellent job of hiding the mindfulness message just enough so my seven year old can come to it on her own but leave enough room for us to have a longer discussion on the topic afterward. The illustrations went extremely well with the story and were vibrant and engaging.

Sloths are my favorite animals, so I loved this book! It’s a perfect book to show kids that slowing down can make you enjoy things you would normally overlook!

This is a really cute book for young children. The illustrations are beautiful and I appreciated that the character was a person of color, as they are very often under-represented in stories. The book teaches mindfulness, as well as patience and cooperation. While it may not be the lesson at the forefront, I also imagine that the book could be used to teach children that friendships should not be one-sided. The sloth character goes along with all of the young girl's games and activities in the way that she prefers, because he moved through activities at a much slower pace (by his nature) than she does. At the end, she finally stops to listen to what the sloth wants her to pay attention to, which teaches her both to slow down and be present, but also to consider what her friend wants to do. It was a lovely book and I think children (and adults) would enjoy it for a number of reasons.

We read this book with my son, and he really liked it. The characters are a little girl and a sloth who, while very different one from another, become best friends. It's an easy book to read for beginner readers, and my son loved reading it himself. The story is sweet and teaches kids about different personalities. Overall, a solid read for small children.

We try to be quite mindful in our home, but it can be a tricky concept to teach children who are always on the go! I really appreciated how easy the lessons in this book are for littles to comprehend while entertaining them with lovely illustrations. I also enjoyed the balance. Not everything has to be done slowly, but it's important to find the balance in your own life.

This short illustrated book is such a cute read, aimed for children. Sasha is a girl who loves being fast paced and enjoy as much as possible the things she does. She’s anything but... a sloth: calm, mindful and very veeeery slow paced. Being together could be something really annoying or could surprisingly be a chance to learn savoring those little things that make life beautiful.

I feel like so many children (including my own) will benefit from the message of taking time to slow down and enjoy the world around them that this book presents. The delightful illustrations include diversity through the children in the race.

Mindful Mr. Sloth is a fantastic introduction to mindfulness for younger kids, with themes of friendship and flexibility, and beautiful illustrations.

Sasha likes to move fast, and likes to do many things at once. Mr. Sloth arrives, and lives life at a much different speed, helping Sasha observe things around her and stay present in the moment.

I can see myself using this book in my therapy practice with younger kids with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, or sensory processing/integration concerns. Without feeling clinical, this book is an engaging, gentle introduction to the concept of mindfulness,

This delightful children's book will resonate with both young and old. Sasha Patience Pruitt is a little girl who loves to multi-task and goes a hundred miles an hour doing so demonstrating again and again she has very little patience.

One day she encounters Mr. Sloth who has dropped out of a tree onto the roof of her tree house and a friendship is formed between the two. She learns that Mr. Sloth is the complete opposite of her and he lives his life at a snail's pace, stopping along his journey to quietly focus and enjoy the world around him. Sasha learns a very valuable life lesson from her new friend ... it's okay to slow down your speedy pace and not always be in such a hurry. Without being critical or judgemental the message of the book points out that it is fine to be both fast and slow.

The illustrations are gorgeous, full of detail and activity which enrich the meaning of the story greatly. I really love them. The book teaches readers to focus on the present moment, to stop and relax, to concentrate on your breathing and to use your senses to engage in the world around you. "Mindful Mr. Sloth" is an excellent book that I highly recommend.

Mindful Mr Sloth is a beautiful picture book with detailed and fun-to-explore illustrations. (For example, I found another book I’ve read by author Katy Hudson, The Golden Acorn, in an illustration toward the end of this book. Fun!)

Mr Sloth’s advice to Sasha to be mindful, focus, stop and relax, think, and use your senses is just as important for adults to take time to practice as it is for kids. I’ll definitely recommend this book.

Thanks to Capstone and NetGalley for the provided e-ARC and the opportunity to read this book. My review is honest, unbiased, and voluntary. #NetGalley #MindfulMrSloth

This is an adorable book with a message about mindfulness and slowing down that doesn't seem preachy or feel heavy-handed. The story is enhanced by the lovely illustrations, and who doesn't love a book with a sloth in it? I think this book could be a valuable tool in a child/adult/family's journey towards mindfulness.

This is such a cute book with a very important underlying theme. When I was a child I can't remember a single book that tackled this topic in a child-friendly manner and God knows I would have 100% benefited from such a story. I think the author did an amazing job at making the topic of mindfulness understandable for very young kids and I also think the story would be really fun to read with different voices, I think kids would really enjoy this. And I must say I particularly appreciated the illustrations and all the tiny details, I think children would love to (as I used to do when I was a kid) spend ages looking at all of the details you can find in each page.

So Fast Sasha meet Mr. Sloth one day. The little girl who love to do so many things in a short period of time, meet the world's slowest animal (beside turtles, I guess.). But Mr. Sloth's existence teach her so many things.

For us who lived in a fast paced world, this book was a nice reminder to stop a while and enjoying what the nature can give us.

As a preschool teacher who works with lots and lots of children that like to go REALLY FAST, I adored the premise of this story. Sasha also likes to do things quickly — until she meets Mr Sloth. As her new best friend, Mr Sloth teaches her that sometimes going slow can be good. The pacing of the story is perfect for little ones, with beautiful illustrations of Sasha’s activities with Mr Sloth throughout her day. I cannot wait to buy a copy to put on our bookshelf.

What drew me in were the illustrations but I am equally pleased with the story. I read it aloud to my 5-year old who listened to the story from cover to cover entranced! She tried reading it by herself too and other than a few unfamiliar words, she breezed through with aplomb. I highly recommend it for kindergarten kids. And did I say the illustrations are absolutely fabulous?
