Timothy Zahn is one of the great masters of Sci Fi. His writing styles is captivating and his storytelling is edge of your seat level. This one was a great YA title. Highly recommend to teens and adults.
In this well-thought out world telekinesis as an ability emerges around age five and disappears with the onset of puberty; thus the title of this book is a clever double entendre.. Lisa Duncan is a typical 14-year-old; already feels like an adult, anxious about the future, and especially anxious about Transition when she'll lose her telekinesis abilities. Then Lisa gets drawn into a mystery involving the kidnapping of a five-year-old boy and a power-hungry religious cult leader. Although some of the scenes with the cult leader are a little heavy-handed this is an engaging novel that thoughtfully addresses the pressures of transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
