I thought that this book was great.
The book was written really well, it was easy to follow and understand and I loved the underlying themes to the book and the points that it gets over - it is all done very well and the images are lovely too
Aa great way to explain more about deployments and how much their families will still love and do miss them when they are away doing their duty for the country
It is 5 stars for this one, a really good book - very highly recommended!
This is a great book for young children who have a parent in the military. It’s simple and reassures children of their feelings. The photos in the book were really nice and complemented the text well. I really liked the resources at the end of the book as well.
This picture book about deployment is great at helping kids realize they are not alone when their parent is serving our country. I especially liked the way it made it clear that moms can be deployed too,
This title has a very distinct audience. It is aimed at the young children of military parents and I would go as far as to say it was aimed at American children. The pages are in patriotic colours of red, white and blue and there are several images that include the American flag. I would've preferred something more universal and maybe an explanation about different branches of the military.
I think the book did well with depicting simple sentences around how a child might feel leading up to and during their parent's deployment. It also did a good job of suggesting things they could do in the meantime whilst waiting for their return. The language and length of text make it reasonable for an average five-year-old to read to their grownup and could be a good source of comfort for them to own and look at when they need reassurance.
This is a short book with smaller words for smaller children. It is straight to the point and comes across with everything a small child needs to know about their loved one being deployed. This would be a good book for any child who has a loved one (or their friend has a loved one) being deployed.
