A wonderful dark romance story. With some very hot sexy scenes. This story had everything you want, a great love, great hate, a betreal, death. Some nice action and a sweet happy ending. Also did i say sexy scenes?

This story is a familiar one when it comes to the mafia genre in romance books.

Families who hate each other, years later son takes over as boss and kidnaps/forces a marriage on the only daughter the enemy has.
Next to all the killing, plotting, (lots of sex) and mafia-stuff going on, the young boss falls in love with his wife. Surprise!!

The last 10% is where the story gets a bit crazy and some plot twists happen, but it does end “happy-ish”.

A very dark mafia romance. Definitely for mature audiences. Interesting dynamics between the couple. Intense family drama.... It works well if dark mafia is your thing. The are trigger warnings though. But an intense read for when you are in a dark, dramatic mood....

I got this as an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

A very slow burn dark mafia romance.

I guess one of the best ways for me to describe this is a slow burn, but not in the romance area of it. It's slow burn within the story, I felt at about 46% in that every day was a repeat of the last. The internal struggles that Massimo was having about his feelings towards Emelia, and how she was in the dark to everything, along with tearing her dreams of art school away from her. Emelia was also having struggles, but deep down I feel she always knew that was going to be her life, just not to this extreme. I am always up for a good dark mafia romance, but this one was just a little too drawn out in the pacing of the book, and not enough world building to making up for the pacing.

Enemies to lovers, throw in attempted murder and old family grudges along with a mafia boss and the daughter of a mafia leader. Massimo is trying to get revenge for his family against the man who took everything away from him and the way to do that is by marrying that man’s daughter Emelia. Emelia is just trying her best to achieve her dream of going to study art in Florence, she even got into the school of her dreams, too bad it is all crushed one day when she is suddenly forced and sold off by her own father to a complete stranger. Emelia and Massimo must now deal with the power struggle between the two along with the threats that are around every corner.

It was a overall really interesting read, definitely glad there were trigger warnings and a mature content warning, it really helped when deciding to delve into the story. Overall, I enjoyed the dynamic between the two people who have to learn to trust one another and function in this extremely difficult situation, especially with family grudges and history.
