Very well written book. Really enjoyed this author, would definitely read more by this author and recommend on my book IG
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
This book's banter is something I freaking love in books and I wish there was more but this boot had miscommunication in it. Usually i'm OK with some but I was not digging it in this one. I did like the political aspect in this book. I feel like authors are too scared to put politics in books but I enjoy it. This book was a solid three for me because I enjoyed the book and I finished it :)
Falling in love with your political rival may be highly discouraged, but when it’s a relationship like Dallas and Grant have, it is worth it, right? This political rom com was highly entertaining. The witty banter and the stubborn-headed-ness of both Dallas and Grant kept me reading to see what would happen. I especially enjoyed all of the places around DC that were mentioned. It made me want to visit the capital to see all of them in person.
Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book was not for me. The elements felt too mature to me. It felt like a lot of it was told and not shown? I had to skim most pages.
All is fair in love and war and when you mix in politics fireworks are set off. Dallas needs to reach a legislative compromise but its tough when she is going against Grant, who is cocky, witty and so, so attractive. He loves her sharp mind and no one pushes him quite like Dallas does. Opposites do truly attract in this one.
Thank you #entangled and #NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The banter between Dallas and Grant was so enjoyable. A great escape read.
Many thanks to Entangled Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
The romance was cute, but the heavy focus on politics killed it for me. I did enjoy the insight on lobbying along with the manipulation that can happen as well. But the constant miscommunication coupled with the political aspect made it hard to get through
I was given a copy of this story to read; but thoughts and opinions are all my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the chance to read this book!
Dallas and Grant.
They shouldn't work together...and yet, they just might be the perfect fit.
Dallas was a go getter, and she kind of had to be. In her family, the man ruled, so in order to get a word in edgewise, she had to learn to play the game. She learned how to so well in fact that she followed that ambition all the way to the capitol, and dear old dad, while still thinking she's merely a pawn in his bigger end game, couldn't have been prouder. Why? Because he's got an inside "man" that can talk the talk, and walk the walk...and when needed, turn heads just enough to have their interests be overwhelmed by his own. Nice family, huh? Still, you have to love her because she does her best not to stand for it, and when she sees the end results they are shooting for crystal clear, and sees that they are along the lines of fairness, honesty, and good for the masses...she takes a stand without regard to the consequences that may come her way.
The same could be said for Grant...well, at least the last part of things. He didn't have the same background growing up, nor the same family driving him to be a cog in the political workings of "the man", and yet his desire to stand for things bigger than himself, to help the little man, and make a way for small businesses to thrive in the ever corporation driven world are noble. Do they always work out? No...but that's half the fun...until it's not. When he's pitted against Dallas, reads her colors wrong, and falls into a trap of his own making, there's no looking back. True, he still wants to get his way...but suddenly, his way isn't the only thing that's important to him...and the fighting feels a lot like something more, and the meetings feel a lot more personal, and pretty soon the man that doesn't do relationships, may just be contemplating one of his own. Funny thing about well made plans...life likes to smash right through them when we aren't even looking.
A great read for Contemporary Romance fans as well as those that like a legal edge. There's enough to satisfy the movement driven, while still being outside the congressional meeting rooms enough to let you escape the final vote. Which side will your heart be on?
I thought I would enjoy this book much more than I actually did. I'm a big nerd about politics, but the main characters were almost too angsty for me. I also didn't feel like there was enough flirting to make up for the political fighting.
I had high hopes for this book, especially after loving Meet You In The Middle but this felt more political to me. I usually read as an escape from politics and noise around them so this didn't work for me as much as I hoped it would. If you are a political junkie you will love it!
This romance was sweet but unfortunately it was way to political for me. It was fun to see how lobbying is used in America and all the manipulation that happens behind the curtain but I found it very boring when they got into their political conversations especially in the beginning. It felt like it lasted a while so I was close to dnf’ing the book, but, luckily I hung on and the romance kept me hanging on for the rest of the book. All in all, one I would recommend if you've got a slight interest in American politics and romance.

I love politics, discussing them, reading about them, and watching the news. I was so excited to read this book but I just don't think politics and romance mesh very well. I was expecting to devour this, and I struggled. There needs to be a line between mentioning politics and overwhelming the reader. Unfortunately, for someone who does not live in the US, this would not be an easy book to read. I am born and raised and I still was taken out of the book to look up meanings of words I hadn't heard before.
I loved the sweet romance between Dallas and Grant, though somewhat predictable. I really wanted Vance to flesh out the characters more, have more sweet moments than angry blow-outs every time the characters meet. One of my favorite scenes was the day they spent together at the mansion before it all went wrong.
If you love politics and are actually immersed in that field, you may love this book. If you love politics superficially and just love to follow, you may struggle with this story.
This romance was sweet but unfortunately it was to political for me.

Her father and his advisor was true villains, so manipulating, and used Dallas(the heroine) in every way possible to get the advantage and their opinion trough in the bill that Dallas and Grant have to agree upon to get the bill through in congress. Grant’s boss is equally as bad.
There is a lot of miscommunication and anger going on between Dallas and Grant until they actually figure out about the manipulation and I love when they figure out that they are practically on the same page about the bill and that all this breaking up and getting back together could have been prevented if they had just listened to each other instead of the conniving people around them:-)!
I love all the things Grant does for Dallas and I found him very swoon worthy and he is definitely the big part of the 3 stars in this review.
I got this book from Entangled publishing and Netgalley. This is my honest opinion and my voluntary review.

Synopsis: Tough as nails DC lobbyist Dallas McGrath can’t believe she’s being ordered to reach a legislative compromise with the opposition. And not just with anyone…with the most arrogant, obnoxious lobbyist in DC, Grant Pierce. Career lobbyist Grant Pierce knows he shouldn’t enjoy ruffling the feathers of the opposition this much, but he can’t help it. Maybe it’s her sharp mind, or maybe it’s the sexy way she bulldozes his every argument. Either way, he’s got the perfect plan to put her off her game. He suggests they negotiate at baseball games, jazz clubs, and nap studios—but even he’s not prepared for what happens next...
My Thoughts: This book was entwined with American Politics. I normally despise politics of any kind, however, the author made this an enjoyable read. This was a enemies to lovers trope, which I usually adore. You can tell that the author has a great detail of knowledge in DC politics as it shines throughout the book. The characters were well developed, passionate about their work, had amazing witty banter between them, had chemistry between them, and had a depth about them. The author’s writing was complex, intriguing, charming, and absolutely engaging. I adored the secondary relationship between the supporting characters, Rebekah and Oshuna. I would read other books by this author. I really enjoyed reading this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book - the back and forth banter between Dallas and Grant was fun to read. In the beginning, they obviously judged each other too quickly and automatically hated one another because they were on opposite sides of an issue but by being forced together, they found some common ground that eventually turns into love. All in all, it was a pretty fun read.
This story did not grab me and I was a little bored. The characters weren’t very likeable and some of the scenes were predictable.
Really enjoyed this story. Flowed well and had me hooked in reading it. First book from this author.
This was so interesting. I work in politics so I finally felt like there was a book where I was in my element and didn’t need things to explained to me. Definitely an interesting story.
Dallas McGrath is thrown together with Grant Pierce to compromise on legislative language for a bill they both want introduced in Congress, but for opposite reasons. She dislikes him immediately, writing him off as just another Washington DC player with no ethics or morals. He pegs her as a rich, spoiled princess playing at politics to appease her father. As they begin to find common ground on the language for the bill, both realize they may have judged each other just a little too quickly.
Across the Aisle is a hilarious romantic comedy with enough drama to hold my interest and keep me turning pages late into the night. I enjoyed getting to know Dallas and Grant and peeking behind the personas they display for others. They have fabulous chemistry and witty banter. The supporting characters are quirky, funny and endearing, adding to the heart warming feel of this book.
