A very cute and quick book about a mouse listening to a composers work. A very brief introduction to the composer - Vivaldi in this case.

Some Creatures Have All the Luck! is a beautifully illustrated children's book and part of the Little Stories of Great Composers series. Due out 1st May 2021 from The Secret Mountain, it's 32 pages and will be available in hardcover, audio, and ebook formats.

This is a really cute story and this time the narrator/facilitator Minim (a cheese and music loving mouse) is in the home of Vivaldi and lamenting his misfortune to share the house with an unfriendly tomcat. As always, the costumes and details of the narrative are engaging and will provide lots of enjoyment for young readers.

The book also includes a QR code link to access some sound recordings to download digitally. This would make a superlative selection for public or school library acquisition, home library, or gifting. It would also be a nice choice for classroom or homeschool use.

Four stars.

In this volume of the Little Stories of Great Composers series, our little cheese and music loving, Minim, is tasked with collecting lost teeth. While on his mission, he encounters a hungry tomcat looking for a tasty treat. Luckily his mission is successful, but on his way out, Minim, happens to come upon music practice conducted by composer Vivaldi. He happens to see the cat contentedly listening and laments "Some creatures have all the luck!"

This delightful series of picture books introduces young readers to famous composers. Sweet little Minim is the perfect blend of curiosity and insightfulness, perfect for little ones to relate to. The highlight of this picture book is definitely the narrator and the illustrations. The story gives introductory information about the composer, but of the three books in this series, this one was my least favorite. Vivaldi isn't introduced until the very end of the story and the story was much more about Minim and the cat. However, as an additional highlight, this book does include a code for downloading some of Vivaldi's work to delight the reader. Some Creatures Have All The Luck is part of a cute series, but this particular title wasn't my favorite.

Some Creatures Have All the Luck! by Ana Gerhard is another wonderful addition to the Little Stories of Great Composers collection. This time, our narrator Minim finds himself in Venice, witnessing a concert conducted by Antonio Vivaldi. As always, Minim is drawn to the beautiful music, and laments that he must soon leave to carry out his duty of collecting lost teeth, while the cat he has encountered has the leisure to enjoy the concert in its entirety.

This is a truly charming series that will introduce children to some of history's most enduring classics, and the composers who brought this beautiful music to light.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Independent Publishers Group for an ARC of this title.
