A fun, and informative, book for preschoolers. Interesting graphics for both children and adults. Could be a fun book during library story times
Very cute book introducing kids to a composer through the eyes of a mouse. Very brief introduction in the story and after the fact. Very nice overall.
A Delicious Taste of Mozzarella! is a beautifully illustrated children's book and part of the Little Stories of Great Composers series. Due out 1st April 2021 from The Secret Mountain, it's 32 pages and will be available in hardcover, audio, and ebook formats.
This is an engaging and very well illustrated story from Tchaikovsky's life told from the point of view of an anthropomorphic music (and cheese) loving mouse narrator named Minim. The illustrations are full of small details which will provide a lot of fun for reading-time hunt and find. There are a number of human characters as well which will give ample opportunity for lots of fun voices during reading with young audiences. This would be a superlative choice for library or classroom reading circles (when we can gather together again) or zoom reading time, as well as family daily reading time with the littles.
Music is such an enriching and important part of our lives and an early introduction to great music will provide lifelong rewards. This is a sweet story which everyone can relate to. The book also includes a short timeline with couple highlights from the great composer's life. The art is very pretty, refined, and rendered with whimsy.
Five stars. Lovely little book. Recommended for public & classroom acquisition, library activity groups, gifting, and home use.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
In this volume of Little Stories of Great Composers, our guide, sweet little Minim mouse, introduces us to the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This delightful little mouse lets us know that he has two true loves in life: cheese and great music. So when the children in his house start talking about Uncle Pyotr's visit, Minim is quickly interested. It doesn't take him long to become enthralled with Uncle Pyotr as well once the composer plays for them.
This children's picture book is a great introduction to the world of classical music. Our guide, Minim, is a sweet and lovable character with a funny personality. He relates the story with quirky curiosity that many children would relate to. The story is simple, but sweet, and the illustrations are beautiful. The book also includes a code for downloading recordings of several of Tchaikovsky's compositions. It's a wonderful way to have multiple resources in one place. A Delicious Taste of Mozzarella would make a fun book for children in the early years (up to age 8), or a fun introduction for composer study.

A Delicious Taste of Mozzarella! by Ana Gerhard is another lovely addition to the wonderful Little Stories of Great Composers series. Once again, our narrator is Minim, a tiny mouse whose love of both cheese and classical music places him in the presence of some of history's greatest composers. As an audience to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Minim can close his eyes and almost taste the delicious mozzarella that the beautiful music conjures in his mind.
This is a delightfully informative series that will educate and entertain even the youngest of readers, and will surely have them asking to experience for themselves the transformative music. My only quibble would be with the title. which may confuse readers as to the full content of the story. Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Independent Publishers Group for an ARC of this title.
