It is Emme's story! I've waited so long. She has struggled so hard with her attraction to Valentino Saldi. He was a total ass and didn't deserve her at all. She was even preparing for a Shadow Rider arranged marriage!
However, after Val is almost killed, the truth of the betrayal Emme believes he did is unraveled. It also gets the whole Ferraro family involved in the Saldi family issues. When you think of mob families like the Saldi's you assume they are the worst criminals. However, Val discovers that part of his family is involved in business even he wouldn't be involved in. With the help of the Ferraro's, Val starts taking control of the family and works to get them out of a business that he can't abide by.
I loved both the intense action scenes as well as the love story that is Val & Emme. The two make a perfect pair and I love them so much. Val's admissions are so heartfelt and had me melting for him. It is going to be hard bringing the Ferraro and Saldi families together, but no one wants to hurt Emme so they will find a way to make it work. I thought Emmanuelle's brothers would be harder on Val. I mean they did give him a hard time, but they put that aside to help Val. I'm going to be really interested to see how these families coexist without conflict going forward.
I've been waiting for Emme and Val's story!! And Ms. Feehan did not disappoint. Their book is probably a favorite of the series. Getting to finally learn their past history after all the hints dropped in pervious books was fun.
I like this author’s writing and read her stuff regularly. I enjoyed these characters and their love story. It’s a great addition in the series.
I have been eagerly anticipating this book from the beginning of this series and it was completely worth the wait.
I loved getting to know Val and see his side of everything. And I adored getting to know his cousin/bodyguard Dario. They’ve both been wildcards throughout the series and I really enjoyed getting to delve more deeply into them.
This is one of my favorite series and it was so great to revisit all the Ferraro siblings and see them come together for Emme, even though they’ve been against her and Val since the beginning.
For fans of Christine Feehan and this series in particular, you won’t want to miss this book.
Such a fantastic, heartfelt romance. It has everything I ever wanted in a romance: great characters, engaging plot and a sizzling romance. Love this series.
I had really high hopes for Shadow Storm, however it fell flat to me in a series that had me hooked from the first chapter of book one. Decent, but not 5 stars.
Shadow Storm is the highly anticipated story in the Shadow Rider series and it was definitely worth the wait. Emmanuelle Ferraro is the single sister in the Ferraro shadow riders family and was betrayed by her lover Valentino Saldi. Her story has been in the over-arching tale in this series and you’ve felt her heartbreak. It took for Valentino to be shot and left for dead to get Emmanuelle reunited with him, and he’s going to take advantage to make sure she stays. Corruption and betrayal has infiltrated the Valdi crime family and it is going to take the Ferraros and the few remaining loyal members to root out the traitors so Valentino can take over his family’s business.
I expected high tension and nothing less than a smoldering, powerful connection between Emmanuelle and Valentino, and I got it in spades. He’s just like all the Ferraro men and did what he had to do to get his woman connected to him. An added twist to the story was his own family’s myth was interesting to say the least. The author didn’t spare any expense and took her time to slowly unwind their feelings for one another, as well as bring in each of the other couples form the previous stories, to mingle them together in the fight for Valdi’s family. I took my time reading in order to savor every word and I’m glad it didn’t take shortcuts to hurry to its conclusion. The whole story was an absolute delight and I was totally happy with the way this series of the 6 Ferraros concludes. I hope that this isn’t the end of the Shadow Riders series and that she includes the cousins (Elie) for future stories.
Having made it through the rest of Feehan's Shadow Riders series (even though often not really enjoying them) I wanted to see how Emme and Val would work things out in this last one. I ended up liking Val more than I thought I would- he's ruthless and does plenty of questionable things, but at least in this book he does it all with the end game of taking down a large human trafficking ring. So about anything can be excused in the course of something like that. Emme is a surprisingly emotionally vulnerable person once we get to know her and the hidden abuse she's suffered all her life, which made me like Val more for always being willing to say that he loved her as a person, as a woman, and her value to him wasn't in being a Rider.
There was a lot of Feehan's usual repetition in this book- I can't decide whether she thinks her characters aren't listening and have to have things repeated to them or she thinks her readers don't remember things for more than a few sentences and have to have things repeated to them. It's incredibly annoying, and one of the main reasons I think twice before reading one of her books. This one also had a lot of things happen "off stage" so to speak, and especially towards the end things felt rushed and jerky as certain things were thrown in at the last minute, no real explanation was given, then the scene would jerk to later and the aftermath without giving us details. Meanwhile, early in the book we get step by step details (over and over again) about the order in which Emme kills people and why and her training for it.
Be prepared for a lot of ranting about how awful human trafficking is- something no decent person can argue with, but apparently Feehan thinks you will so she keeps telling you. Darker in that respect than some of her other books, the relationship between Val and Emme ended up being a good partnership. A decent finish to the series (or at least the original part of the series?).

I'm not sure where to start with this one. When this series came out I was on the fence about it. While I liked the premise of it I was wasn't sure if I was going to like the male characters as they seemed extra Alpha to me. More than in Feehan's other books.
It took me a bit to get into but I eventually fell in love with this family. If you love big messy Italian families with lots of enemies and ghosts from the past then you will love this story.
Christine Feehan continues the Shadow Riders series with the romance of Emmanuelle Ferrarro, shadow rider in Shadow Storm. Emmanuelle rides to the rescue of her estranged lover Valentino Saldi, who is injured in an attack by Micali, a relative Saldi trying to take over the crime family business. Valentino forms an alliance with the Ferrarro brothers to take down Micali's child prostitution ring and protect Emmanuelle who becomes his wife. Chicago is the battleground; Emmanuelle as a shadow rider is engaged in the battle. Romantic and violent as many of Feehan's paranormal thrillers are. Fast paced and sexy.
This was a awesome book to close the chapter of the Ferraro's of Chicago. Emmanuelle is a strong female character that can hang tough with her brothers but also has a soft spot for the man she loves. Valentino is ruthless in the same way as the Ferraro brothers so that he can take the heat that they dish out to him. The two of them together are steamy. The twists in this one were really good. Enjoyed it very much.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Berkeley Publishing Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is I believe the 6th in a series. I have not read the others. This reads well as a stand alone. This is another winner for Ms. Feehan. I truly loved the chemistry between Valentine and Emme. But yikes her mom was horrible. I will definitely go back and read the others in this series. The characters and sense of family in this book were fantastic. Truly a fun book. I think that most romance readers will enjoy this book. 4.5 stars

Is it just me or has everyone been waiting for Val and Emme’s story? It seems like forever!
Val and Emma always had a spark between them but their families are at odds so it was not meant to be. And even though they had that pull the break up of their hidden romance broke Emme’s heart.
But now the families have to come together against a common enemy which brings Val and Emme together again and their hearts or bodies can stay apart any longer.
Sometimes when you wait for a story of characters you have met in other stories you can be disappointed when their story is finally read. But not when Feehan is writing the story. Feehan knows her characters but she also knows her readers and what they want. And she gave us just that in this fun, funny (thanks Dario) and sexy novel.
A paranormal Hatfield & McCoy story at it’s best!

The sixth entry of Christine Feehan’s Shadow Riders series is Emmanuelle’s tale. The sole sister of the Ferraro family finally gets her own book after being featured in all previous installments. Readers know Emmanuelle is hopelessly in love with the forbidden and dangerous Valentino Saldi, the heir apparent to the Saldi crime family. The Saldis and Ferraros are locked in a generations-long feud and have long been at odds. Fiercely protective of their sister, the Ferraro brothers have tried to keep their sister safe and out of Val’s clutches. Recently Emme is willing to comply. She believes Val has betrayed her and was using her as a pawn in his family’s quest for power. But when Val’s family faces real and mortal danger, Emme is powerless to resist. She and her family swoop in to join forces with their enemy to defeat a larger, more nefarious foe.
Throughout the series, I was intrigued by Emmanuelle and Valentino’s story. We knew we’d eventually get the dirty details and were teased forever. As always, miscommunication is at the heart of Emme and Val’s strife and they must work together to build trust in business and love. The book is fast-paced and characteristically sexy as hell. Given Emme and Val’s tumultuous past, the tension between the two is simmering and deep. This was one of my favourite entries in the Shadow Rider series. Like other books in the series, there’s a HEA formula, so don’t expect anything completely novel.
All our favourite Ferraro heroes return in this book to mete out their lethal brand of vigilante justice. A new character, Val’s cousin and right-hand Dario Saldi, is fleshed out in this installment. As it turns out the Saldis have their own curious secrets and are more closely linked to the Ferraros than anyone imagined. I predict Dario will return in the series with his own story to tell. His dangerous persona and rough possessiveness will make him appropriately alpha enough for his own book.
DNF - I used to love Feehan books, but as of recent I just can't get into them. Before it was about the romance, lately it just seems more violent. I don't mind Feehan bringing light to situations that are unsavory, she has always had a huge tie brining up child trafficking. But recently, it feels that is all her books really talk about. Sometimes its a bit too much in detail, and it just makes me not want to continue reading the book. This is another one of those situations where it was too much that I had to put the book down. I reached 75% of the book and stopped.
I have been reading the Shadow series on and off and looked forward to this latest story. However, once again the story seems to fall flat the minute we get to the story of the couple. I realize now that the allure in Feehan books is that she is amazing at putting on the mystery. I love side characters but the minute we start their story its over. The characters are all the same, there is no difference.
Male character is always bossy, demanding, and a douche.
Female characters as of late just push overs wanting to be dominated.
I still hold on to hope for actual bad a** female characters.
For five books we’ve wondered if Emma Ferraro and Valentino Saldi would be able to make their relationship work. With so many obstacles in their way and with Ms. Feehan’s tendency to throw curve balls at our favorite couples I knew this story was going to be an emotional one.
Ms. Feehan didn’t disappoint!! From the action scenes, which were meticulously thought out to the gut wrenching secrets revealed I was on the edge of my seat turning page after page, intrigued by the clues thrown in, enjoying the family banter, who knew Stefano was so funny, shocked by the betrayals and loving each scene of Emme and Val’s journey toward each other.
Another keeper for the Feehan shelf and several rereads to give me hints to the next Shadow book!!
This book surpassed all my expectations. I LOVE all of Christine Feehan's books. I expected a great story, because that is what she does. I was very pleased with all the twists and turns the story gave me. I was very happy to know that Val did not give up on his love for Emmanuelle. This story just made me hunger for Elie's story. He just cannot settle for an arranged my heart will break if that is so!
I have really enjoyed this new series from Christine Feehan. For this installment, we're finally getting the full story of the only female sister (Emme) among a group of otherwise all alpha-male brothers. I'll leave the other reviewers to provide the summary view, but ultimately, Emme has been too long in the shadows for her to have ever allowed Val (our hero) to dictate her future path. I loved seeing how the previous pieces laid out in prior stories were drawn together to resolve this Romeo & Juliet-esque relationship, including how Emme and Val arrive together at the compromises (via a few strong struggles) that will bring them to their own HEA. We also learn about a new element connected to the Shadow Riders that has interesting future considerations, and some significant resolution from an over-arching storyline across the series. I also am hopeful that w/some of the new elements we learned from this book, Ms. Feehan has given us an opening for extending this series despite having finished a story for each sibling - I really would love to see installments for Elie & Dario especially!

Veena’s review of Shadow Storm (Shadow Riders, Book 6) by Christine Feehan
Paranormal Romance published by Berkley 25 May 21
Emmie and Val have been a Romeo-and-Juliet type thread through the earlier books in the series. When that relationship is irreparably damaged, Emmie turns her energies toward a future without Val. Then she receives a 911 message alerting her that Val is in danger and needs help. She can’t help but rush to his side and call her family for additional assistance to protect him.
Now she’s done it. Not only does the Ferraro family come to Val’s rescue and take a stand on his side, but they shelter him in the heart of their fortress, giving him a chance to recoup and recover. What a great beginning to Emmie’s story.
Readers clearly know about the shadows and how they are enmeshed between two halves of a couple. Now we learn about creepers that reach out and tie the shadows together, such that Val can send Emmie thoughts, feelings, and sensations. What fun the author has with this theme, as she uses it in an entirely erotic way to initiate horizontal games between the couple.
Of course, the story runs its progression, explaining the past and building a future. Emmie and Val are both strong characters – he’s slated to be the head of the Saldi family and she’s no shrinking violet. Their relationship is a partnership and a compromise, as they work through how they’ll operate as a couple in the future.
All in all, a great way to tie up the series and give the Ferraro siblings their HEA. There are a lot of characters who have made an impression on me as a reader and I hope they too have a future story and a chance at a HEA.
Grade: A
It is said that Ferro's never truly love but once and that person has their whole heart. For Emmanuelle Ferro hers was a love that should never have happened, as Valentino Saldi was the Prince of the Saldi crime family and one day would rule over all.
Since she first saw him when she was only 16, he has been her heart and soul the only man she would ever love no matter how wrong it was and the danger not only to herself but to her family. She was ready to give up everything she held dear for Val, until one overheard comment broke her heart and she knew she had to walk away and shut him out of her life forever.
Valentino Saldi, the heir to the Saldi crime family knew that loving Emmanuelle was wrong simply due to their ages when he first met her but like Emmanuelle he knew she was the only one for him and did everything within his power to bind her to him.
An unexpected hostile takeover attempt by Val's uncle leaves him seriously injured, his bodyguard Dario reaches out to the only person that he knows can save Val. When Emme receives Dario's message no matter the danger to her heart she knows she must go and do every thing within her power to save Val, but will they be able to save each other and forge a love that can never be broken.
The long awaited story for Emme, is well worth the wait and as the story unfolds the secrets that are revealed explain so many things that the Ferro's never knew about the Saldi's. Once these secrets are revealed it is a bombshell. The Ferro's also find out hard truths within their own family that will shake their world and force decisions that they never wanted to have to make.
Well worth the wait as this story is the best
