Very cute book that would be great to read to a child before nap or bed. I love the anatomically correct sleeping eyes of the frogs.
What a great bedtime story! The wide variety of adventures in these hilarious illustrations will give both children and adults a good chuckle before they drift off to happy dreams. So fun!
The frogs are so cute and I think children will like this as they can relate to the energy and imagination these frogs have. The illustrations are good and funny at times. I think this will be fun to read with children.
This was very fun and enjoyable! The illustrations were lovely and the story fun and quirky!
A great book to read before bed. My son loves animals so he was sold on this book.
The Froggies Do NOT Want to Sleep.
This is a good children's book and really enjoyable. The illustrations really bring the book to life. Great artwork that allows to tell the story too. It starts off as many things the froggies want to do instead of sleeping and gets crazier as book goes on. It's very funny and great story for kidsto keep them entertained.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a wonderful, imaginative, and hilarious bedtime story that I know kids will love. Hop on board as an army ( yes that's what they are called ) of little froggies who are supposed to be drifting off to sleep are NOT co-operating! They want to escape from under the covers and go on adventures where they practice their accordions, play dress-up, go for long drives in the country, joust like knights, fire themselves out of cannons and fly off into the universe on their spaceships, just to name a few. Sounds like a very busy night ahead doesn't it? Their imaginative antics will both delight and entertain kids.
The illustrations are truly amazing... full of detail, expression and creativity. I love them. The story is engaging and is a perfect read aloud to read again and again. This book belongs not only in homes but in classrooms and school libraries also. I highly recommend it and give high praise to Gustavson on his debut book and encourage him to keep on creating.
The Froggies Do Not Want to Sleep is a cute nightly send of for kids. A goofy, laugh inducing bedtime story to get the last bits of energy out and give them interesting adventures to drift off to. I really liked the artwork. Bright and detailed and also a bit silly. It started off simple, but as the craziness progressed the illustrations got more interesting and colourful. I know my froggy would definitely laugh and enjoy this one before bed.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Froggies do not want to sleep is an illustrated picture book for young children aged 4-8 years about a family of young frogs who do not want to go to sleep. They would much rather be playing and doing anything other than going to bed (as many children do). This book has fantastic imaginative ideas of things to play for children and the illustrations are funny and fun.
The bit I didn't quite get was the alien being the parent at the end but the last picture did make me smile as they sat down with the ice cream when the froggies were finally asleep.
These froggies want to do a lot of things, but sleeping isn't one of them. I really enjoyed the silly activities that kept these amphibians occupied until they were tired. I'll definitely be recommending this one as a bedtime story. It's easy enough to read that even my first-graders could enjoy it on their own, but older students will find it humorous as well.
Seriously, 100%, could not stop laughing at these froggies.
This absolutely gorgeously illustrated book is light on the words, but the artwork is some of the best I've seen in a while. Simply splendid! The writing, honestly, reads like some exasperated, knowing parent, who simply cannot get the froggies to go to sleep and I just cracked up laughing every page.
‘They want to sing opera while firing themselves out of cannons’ but they certainly do NOT want to go to sleep.
I giggled. Hard.
It isa rocking, funny book. Burping contests with aliens.. wow.. Magical illustrations. Underwater ballet. The froggies sure do have lots of interesting ideas.
Many thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Oh wow, I love everything about this book. Gustavson’s illustrations are wonderful; the compositions are executed well and the way each spread takes your eyes across the pages and leads them smoothly onto the next spread, like a continuous tapestry, is a joy. And there is so much to see in the details of each spread. A book where you will see something new each time you pick it up. And just the right amount of detail, a balance of white space and detail that is relevant to the story.
The story is spot on with children, at bedtime or other. It is funny and exciting and imaginative. And so enjoyable to read out loud. Definitely one to read again and again and again. Loved the illustrations at the end of the story - they made me laugh.
This was a sweet, silly little story about some froggies that have way better ideas than sleeping. The illustrations were incredible - with so many great details to look at and talk about. The story could be read quickly - or stretched out with conversations about the illustrations and predictions. And frogs don't get enough exposure in cuddly, night time books! My little non-sleeping froggies at home would love seeing the silly things the froggies do to stay awake at night, and my preschool class would also love this one. Would love to add this to my home and classroom libraries.
I absolutely loved the art work!!! The jellyfish was my favorite. The story was cute, but this book really sold the art for me
Great book about frogs not going to sleep. They went on amazing adventures. Love all the colors - and creative adventures.
I received an ARC copy of this title courtesy of #netgalley, Adam Gustavson and the publisher.
Gustavson is a talented children's book illustrated. The images in this title are quite bland in detail but they suit the story well. I love the way some sentences are drawn over several pages to create tension and climax.
This is a great bedtime reading story for preschoolers about all the wonderful, adventurous things frogs want to do instead of sleeping. A book to be enjoyed for its 5/5 star qualities.
This is a funny book with a very imaginative storyline. The illustrations are just brilliant and entertaining.
This book reminded me of the old picture book Tuesday. The illustrations are wonderful and it is a cute story that many youngsters would love,
The Froggies Do NOT Want to Sleep is a story about a family of frogs at bedtime. These young frogs don't want to go to sleep. They want to stay up and have fun like all kids do. There is so much character in the illustrations and the story was hilarious. Just wait until you get to the part about knights! This is a story that could very possibly become a family favorite. I would recommend it to my friends and family with children and I think that it would be a great addition to any children's collection in a library. Great job! Well done!
Some may find this a book they would hand their children however I would not as it has aliens and does not warn of such. Plus, it kinda has a Monster Inc. feel which isn't the best thing for before bed as this book is supposed to be.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
