This is a great story, full of intrigue and mystery from the very first page. At first I didn't know whether or not Sophie's claim to have lost her memory rang true or not. The very idea of walking away from your life and starting over is bound to be something everyone fantasises about especially if you are feeling overwhelmed but I know I could never go through with it. Before long however the story takes a much more sinister twist, one that will affect all parties.
I really liked this book, there was a lot of tension involved which kept me reading well into the night. This was the first time I have come across this author's work but I will be watching out for her name again.

I was interested in this book after reading the description and seeing that it was going to be a “totally gripping psychological suspense novel that you won’t be able to put down.” Unfortunately, it fell pretty flat. I was drawn into the mystery at the beginning but that attention waned fairly quickly.

It was a decent premise and I think the story did have potential. The story was predictable, there’s a fairly standard romance aspect and a house with a past that doesn’t really add much to the story. I wouldn’t call this a thriller, maybe more of mystery romance.

I was interested enough to see how the book would end, it was all tied up neatly in a little bow at the end. I think I just had higher expectations after reading the description.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. I enjoyed this book and the mystery of who Sophie really was. Lots of twists to keep you gripped. Good characters too.

I wasnt able to put this book down. I was turning pages just to find out what was going on. This book was full of suspense. I very much connected with the character of Sophie . I loved the short chapters.

So I haven't read anything by Kelly Heard before so wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed the silent girl and will definitely read her work going forward.

Sophie wakes up in hospital with a terrible case of amnesia she can't remember her name history or how the heck she ended up in hospital. Sophie isn't safe she can feel it she just doesn't know why. What follows is a jumble of memories and feat lots of it.

Sophie is our protagonist and I kind of loved her. She is super badass and even though she makes some let's say questionable choices she is still a great lead. I loved the spin with amnesia, it's been used quite a lot on this genre but I think this is the best storyline I've read featuring it. The fear that she feels is so apparent and understandable that even if she isn't in danger it's super easy to get why she would feel it. If you woke up in hospital battered and broken after being left for dead you would be scared? But from the beginning of the story I had had feeling that she had a reason to be scared, like her I just wanted to know what it was.

Sophie's memories seem to come back in chronological order which adds even more suspense her childhood is heartbreaking but there's one constant her elder brother. Her mission is to find him. But the Detective poses a very good question why is no one looking for her? Who is she involved with. The Detective thinks there's something dangerous about the situation if not Sophie then she's upset the wrong people.

She is a bit reckless after she hitches a rid and starts a job at a haunted manner she meets Nathaniel. I was on the fence on whether or not we should trust him and it flip flopped throughout the book. He was an interesting character clearly a lost soul and so broken but it was just finding out why. He has the most amazing little boy Lincoln who is by far the best character of the entire book, when you read you will understand.

What the author does so well is create fear without violence or even threat. I found that she is super clever that way. I was freaked out every time Sophie opened a door, espically to her apartment. Plus the clearer her memories become the more I found myself on the edge of my seat, (or in my case my bed). I wanted to know everything but didn't want the story to end so hoped it would drag out.
Also the author gives us an allusion of time by skipping ahead a few weeks at a time which really adds weight to the story.

Would I recommend this book? If you enjoy a mystery, head games and a bit of a ghost story then this book will fit you perfectly. Turns out I love all those things as well so really enjoyed this book and yes I would recommend. I felt like this is the kind of book that fits perfectly as a psychological thriller! 4 stars 🌟 it would of been 5 but I hated the ending.

The Silent Girl by Kelly Heard I loved this book and was hooked within the first few pages. This book is very addictive and was well written, with very detailed descriptions that places Sophie one of the main characters has visited throughout this book.
But, when Sophie wakes up in a hospital bed, she doesn't know who she is! how she got there! and questions everything around her.

WoW what a start to the book.

Sophie, is a victim of a violent crime and when she is released from hospital she takes refuse in an old estate working to help to clear it up and getting ready to start her life again, where she finds someone who she may fall for.......But then you have to read this book for yourself!

I have just loved reading all of Kelly's books in the past. This new book did not disappoint It was fast paced with lots of twists and turns throughout with a great ending to it

I highly recommend this latest book by Kelly. Fab read x

I thought the description of this book was intriguing and it has one of the best catch lines of any I’ve read recently. It also ended up being totally unlike any book I have read in recent memory. Right from the beginning, the author puts the reader into the frame of mind of the heroine, Sophie. She has no memory of her past, and the reader discovers it with her as things slowly start to come back to her. I thought this was extremely effective. I liked how she and Nathaniel related to each other. There is a lot of imagery (some mystical) in this book as well. It is believable and not “out there.” About two-thirds through, everything starts to crystallize. I’m nt saying more, because the reader journeys with Sophie, and it’s a satisfying ride. Jane Doe is found unconscious in the woods badly bruised and covered in blood. When she finally wakes in the hospital she has no idea who she is, all she knows is she needs to find and help her brother Miles. The doctors say she suffers from dissociative amnesia. Is she just a girl in trouble or is she a danger to all those around her? Taking the name Sophie, she runs from the hospital and finds herself at Dovedorn House, where caretaker Nathaniel Wells hires her on as hired help. Will her memories come back and will Sophie finally find out what her mind has been guarding from her?

This story really grabs your attention with its mystery surrounding Sophie as we weave through the pages wondering what has happened to her in her past and how she was found bloodied and bruised. We get little pieces of the story as memories come flooding back, but we never get to see the full picture right away. I kept going back and forth with my own guesses and for the most part I guessed half correctly at least. Although, the mystery is pretty well hidden.
I really liked Sophie as a character and felt her character development was really fleshed through. I can feel compassion towards her and all that she is going through even if I may have had my doubts surrounding her innocence. She is scared yet fearless and there were so many other contradictions in the mix that makes you feel endeared towards her.

The story, I feel, is more character development as nothing much happens except for bits and pieces until closer to the end. I think this really helped in developing Sophie along with Nathaniel as they started to lean on one another for support as both were damaged in different ways. There is a slightly gothic feel towards the story centering around Dovemorn House and its tragic past which really set off some eerie vibes during the course of the story.

All in all, I really enjoyed The Silent Girl by Kelly Heard. It is a great story you can easily sink your teeth into.

This is a well written novel which is completely filled with suspense. I have been intrigued by the synopsis and enticed by the cover.

I am a huge fan of this author and this is a book that has kept me guessing. I have wanted to know the story from very early on in this one.

This has been an enjoyable read that I have absolutely devoured in just one sitting. This has been addictive and completely engaging.

A definite five star read and one I highly recommend.

I quite liked the book. An amnesiac woman finding job in the outskirts of town, soon found her memory returning in flashes. My first book, methinks, of Author Kelly Heard, loved the atmosphere it brought with it.

Short snappy chapters with a different action in every one, I liked how the author paced the book. There was a careful build up of mystery. Developing Jane Doe’s character over the pages gave me an insight into her emotions.

Pain and desperation with a background of fear were well felt. As the pages turned, the suspense brought out a sense of impending danger, and with it, my curiosity ramped up.

An explosive finish, the book was everything I needed to distract me from the tough times my country is going through.

I'm very much on the fence about this one. Our protagonist has no idea who she is or how she ended up left to die on the side of the road, but she knows she is afraid of something...or someone. With Nathaniel's help, she slowly starts rebuilding her life only to have it fall apart again, and this time, she may not be the only one getting hurt..

This definitely wasn't a quick read, but I become more interested in Sophie's plotline as time went on. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book to friends, it wasn't terrible either.

The story had potential but unfortunately it fell short. What started as an interesting plot got boring fast. I just couldn't get into this book and didn't feel that the book was very thrilling. I dislike giving bad reviews and for that reason I tried to hang in there and finish the book but really this book was super slow. Hopefully this author's next book will be better.

This is a new author for me. I really enjoyed The Silent Girl. I read a lot of thriller’s, it’s one of my go-to-genre’s. I also really enjoy books that involve memory loss and the like. So I was really looking forward to this. The Silent Girl has all the markers of an excellent thriller, fast pace, well developed characters, twists, turns, misdirection and unreliable narration. The story develops well with important elements gradually revealed, forcing to read on until it all joins together.

The Silent Girl by Kelly Heard has the tagline across the cover of “An absolutely gripping mystery thriller full of suspense” so maybe it was that my expectations were high but I thought I was going to be glued to this one. After reading I could still somewhat say I was glued to it but for all the wrong reasons but I’ll get to that more later in the review, first a little about the book.

The Silent Girl opens up with a woman waking up in the hospital beaten and battered but with no memory of who she is or what actually happened to her. The only clue to her identity is a necklace that is found in her pocket which is found the pendant means ‘Sofia’. Our Jane Doe then decides that he name will be Sophie based on the necklace.

Once healed with detectives still not having a clue as to what happened to Sophie they want her transferred to a memory care unit but Sophie has plans of her own. Sophie sneaks off and comes across a job working restoring the garden at an old “haunted” mansion where she finds herself getting closer to the family she is working for.

Now I often think when I finish a mystery/thriller that maybe my thoughts on it come from reading so much of this genre but I don’t think that was the case with this one. My first problem with this was that it wasn’t very thrilling at all to me as I felt after leaving the hospital that it became more of a flawed character romance and I was only glued to the story waiting for more to happen. There was still a lot of foreshadowing done with the memories during that time but that then became the problem that when the ‘thrilling’ part did come I came to that old conclusion of me finding it was all too predictable of an outcome that to me was lacking any twists or turns. There are a lot of high reviews on this one but unfortunately I didn’t feel the same.

This was a solid book but I found the book slightly clunky for me. I am not sure to be honest if it was just my mind set or if there was something odd with the writing.

The main character was enjoyable and the story was pretty good. I found the book made me get some fear and it did give me chills at points

This was an interesting premise, and a decent read but the execution of it didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

covered head to toe in injuries, and with almost no memory of her life, no recollection of the attack or being found on the side of the road, and no idea of her own name, this is the story of "sophie" as she re-learns her past, learns that things/people are very rarely as they seem, revisits trauma, and learns to trust in humans and a feeling of safety, once again.

an absolute page turner!

What did I just read! Wow! What a crazy plot. I adored the characters, I loved the story. This book grabs you from the first page and holds tight till the bitter end. Amnesia, violence and a bit of romance twisted with a whole bunch of mystery. This is a great read. This one kept me on the edge of my seat right through. Brilliant
