Margaret Yoder is ready to put her wild past behind her, get rid of her English clothes, and embrace the life of a devout Amish woman, but things keep getting in her way. First is her overly critical mother, who thinks that, because Margaret is 20, she should be married, just as her three sisters were. Second are her English friends, who dared to drop by one afternoon, and wouldn’t take NO for an answer when they asked Margaret about meeting them later to attend a party. And third are her own conflicted feelings about never being good enough in her family’s eyes. Remembering a pleasant visit she had at her aunt’s home in Birch Creek prompts Margaret to plan a return visit, telling her mother she was looking for a husband, though that was the furthest thing from her mind.
The love and support Margaret receives from her Birch Creek friends and family is awesome, and her growing attraction to Owen is a delight to see developing. I really admired Margaret for finding her path and her determination to walk according to her strongly held beliefs. This is a sweet story that draws the reader in with well-developed characters and realistic situations. Although this book is the second in the Mail Order Brides series, I was able to follow along quite well even without reading the first one.
Matched and Married is book two in An Amish Mail-Order Bride series by Kathleen Fuller. This is a cute stand alone Amish romance that does reference people in the first book, so it is best to read the books in order. The story is well written and very descriptive. It was easy to imagine Margaret and Owen as they seek shelter from the storm.
I felt sorry for the couple as they are both being pressured from their mothers so marry when they don’t want to. But it is fun to see how God has other plans for them. I especially liked when Margaret’s father confided in her about the past and his relationship with her mother.
I received a complimentary copy of this story from the publisher through NetGalley, this is my honest review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I enjoyed reading Matched and Married very much, but found the ending rushed and some loose ends and story lines were not completed. Perhaps, there will be a second story, but I was left with several questions and wondered why one story line was even included. However, the story of Owen and Margaret was engaging and interesting, although I think Margaret was much too hard on herself, but that was part of the plot. The story line of Rhonda and her estranged husband did not add to the story, but left me with some questions. Their story would make a fabulous stand alone book. I will read more from this author and publisher and it was a nice story with a happy ending.
At first I had a hard time getting into this book however that didn't last long. I feel like this books is for all the ages it teaches some much of what matters in life, forgiveness and finding healing even when Life just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. I liked Owen while he was a workaholic and is learning to take life at a slower pace he still seems to be wise beyond his years and yet still torn between young adult and being grown up. I feel like Margaret had a lot of growing up to do from beginning to the end of the book but I feel that the way the author told the story and allowed Margaret's life choices to play just made sense overall. This book is a good clean read and can be enjoyed by all. I am not sure if there is more to come but it would be interesting to see what does happen next based on the end of the book.
Matched and Married by Kathleen Fuller is the 2nd An Amish Mail Order Bride Novel. It can be read as a standalone in case you have not indulged in A Double Dose of Love. I thought Matched and Married was well-written with steady pacing. It contains realistic characters who have normal fears, concerns, joys, and hopes. I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Margaret Yoder and Owen Bontrager. We get to see their friendship develop over their shared love of foraging and herbal medicine. I did find Margaret a bit negative during the first half of the book. I was baffled why Margaret felt it was wrong to use or investigate the abandoned shed in the woods. It was obvious it had not been used in some time. Owen has some great ideas for the family farm. That type of out of the box thinking is what is needed if the farm is to survive. Margaret and Owen will need to do soul searching and prayer before a resolution is achieved. There was a side story focusing on Rhoda Troyer that was quite interesting. She is lonely with her children married and her husband gone. Emmanuel, Rhoda’s husband, took off years ago after his crimes were uncovered. She has not seen or heard from him since then. Should Rhoda continue to live in limbo? The ending will leave you smiling. It was great to catch up with the characters from A Double Dose of Love. Love, hope, forgiveness, and the importance of being yourself (comfortable in your own skin) are featured in Matched and Married. I am looking forward to reading Love in Plain Sight. Matched and Married is a sweet Amish tale with a workaholic farmer, a shameful secret, an attentive aunt, a benevolent bishop, a fetching Englisher, adamant mother, and a wondering Amish woman.
This is a Clean Amish Romance, and this is the second book in the Amish Mail-Order Bride series. I have read and review the first book in this book series. I have to say I liked this a lot more then the first book in this series. The characters in this book I connected to, and I loved them so much more. I loved all the plant talk in this book. I also love that both of the characters really did not see they where feeling in love, and they did not see they loved each other. I found this book cute and fun to read. I got pulled into this book so quickly, and I did not want to put it down. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zondervan) or author (Kathleen Fuller) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
I have to say, up front, that I am not a big Amish fan and don't really read many Amish books. I had the opportunity to read and review this story so I decided to try it. I really enjoyed the characters and found them to be quite realistic and entertaining. Margaret didn't seem very Amish to be in the first part of the book. I was a little confused! She seemed quite worldly but over the course of the story, she changed quite a bit and I was delighted to watch her transformation as she moved closer to God. She had overcome a lot. Her mother, however, was very disappointing to me. Owen, on the other hand, I connected with immediately! I liked his character and personality. The banter between Margaret and Owen was very enjoyable! It was fun that neither one wanted to get married and they worked hard on their friendship. I would recommend this book!

Matched and Married is a well written Amish romance. Good plot and character development. I recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
I just had a very different experience with an Amish book by Kathleen Fuller. It was Matched and Married. It was not really what I was expecting. It was still a worthwhile read in my opinion.
The couple that is the center of the book is not really matched up that I could tell. Maggie told her mother she was going to her aunt's town to find a husband to get her mother off her back. The man she meets there is Owen. They become fast friends as neither of them feels ready for marriage.
The author uses a few of Deutch words. Not to many only a few that you can tell what they are by how they are used. I felt like they were an interruption to the flow of the story. I did enjoy hearing a bit about the Amish faith. I used to live in a community with a lot of Amish families.
I felt the story was a bit slow moving. Since their lifestyle is slower than ours, I might image that could be the reason for the slow pace of the story. This is the second book in the series and I didn't feel like much ground was covered in the telling of this part of the series. I am interested to go back and read the first book to see how it compares.
I received a copy of this book from #Netgalley, #Zondervan and #FirstEditions for a fair and honest review. Thank you!
A Fun Story
Matched and Married was such a fun story about two people who insist they have absolutely no plan or desire to get married.. And that ends up being the tie that binds Margaret Yoder and Owen Bontrager together. As Margaret and Owen realize that they are in agreement about their feelings toward marriage, they don't realize that they have quite a few more things in common. As they discover these commonalities, the "no marriage" waters begin to get muddied.
The story had moments that made me laugh, moments that had me holding my breath, and moments that had me reflecting on the importance of faith and forgiveness. That combination is what made this fun and romantic story so entertaining! I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story, and I highly recommend it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Matched and Married. Author Kathleen Fuller writes a charming, fun story that kept me turning the pages. With well developed characters and a great setting it’s easy to see why she is one of the premier authors of Amish fiction.
Quirky characters who are sure they never want to get married, foraging in the woods, and running from pushy parents are all wrapped up in one delightful story. Include self-forgiveness and a brides wanted ad, and you have a story with something for everyone. If you enjoy Amish fiction this is a must read!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
I received my copy from netgalley.
I absolutely loved it couldn't put I down I alway's love Kathleen fuller books..❤
Matched and Married is the second book in the Amish Mail Order Bride series and it was a wonderful read. It's a well written fun read that will make you laugh out loud yet it has serious moments also. It's a sweet romance that is full of hope and forgiveness. This book was a joy to read and I recommend to all fans of Amish fiction.

What a great treat to be back in Birch Creek Ohio and with so many characters that I have come to care for. We are updated on their lives and your in for a treat with a new visiting member, and one that is not interested in finding a spouse, and definitely not a mail order bride.
While Margaret is trying to obey her mother, she doesn't want to get married, but the author puts Owen Bontrager in her path. A young man that doesn't know how to stop working, and we are along with his family to see how his family deals with the problem they are seeing.
Not only does this pair not want to get married, you will soon wonder if they will survive to the end?
I love that their is another book coming, I am looking forward to it!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.
Matched and Married, the second book of the Amish Mail Order Bride series, is another fun yet touching read from one of my favorite “go-to” authors for Amish fiction. This is a well-written narrative including both laugh-out-loud and somber, contemplative moments. Delightful characters, a smoothly flowing plot, sweet romance, and inspiring spiritual truths combine to make an entertaining, enjoyable read. This book works as a stand-alone, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the Amish of Birch Creek series first to have been more familiar with the carry over characters and events referenced in this book.

I enjoyed this fun Amish story of two people who didn’t plan on falling in love with each other! Matched and Married is the second book in the Amish Mail-Order Bride series and it is also connected to other books that have taken place in Birch Creek. If you haven’t read any of the other stories, you should still be able to enjoy this one. However, if you have read other books set in Birch Creek, you will probably have a lot of fun seeing how previous characters are doing.
In this story, Margaret took the opportunity to escape from a very controlling and unpleasant mother, whom she was never able to please, by visiting her aunt and uncle in Birch Creek. It was nice to see that Margaret was valued for the person she was by this part of the family.
I really enjoyed the peek into Owen’s home life, with all of the craziness of a large household. It was interesting to watch as Owen was forced into a vacation by his family in order to stem some of his workaholic tendencies.
I liked the way the relationship developed between Owen and Margaret. It really wasn’t something that either of them saw coming. I still need to go back and read the book that comes right before this one. I have enjoyed that there are so many books set in the Birch Creek community.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
There has never been a Kathleen Fuller book that I have not completely enjoyed! This is yet another one of her fabulous reads! So sweet and so clean with an ending the only be turning the pages to get to.
Matched and Married by Kathleen Fuller is the second book of this series. It can easily be read as a standalone, though. I have not read the first story and I was not lost at all.
I have to admit that I struggled a bit with this story. Well, mostly, I had trouble connecting with Margaret. Basically, for the first half of the story, she’s all about how a person looks on the outside, not who they are on the inside. And as far as Owen was concerned, she was very negative. While I know that she changes, I felt like it was just a bit much and it made me dislike her. I did enjoy the second part of the story more when Margaret and Owen strike up their friendship and she begins to change.
This is a quick sweet read and I would say if you like Amish stories, give this one a try!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Matched and Married by Kathleen Fuller is a wonderful 5-star story. Release day is September 7, 2021.
Kathleen allows us to revisit the small Amish town of Birch Creek, the town that published an ad for brides.
Margaret Yoder has no interest in marriage, but she tells her mother that she will go to Birch Creek in order to find a husband. Really, she just wants to get away from her domineering mother and have a chance to visit family an friends.
Owen Bontrager is workaholic on his farm. He also has no interest in marriage. When the two meet, they understand each other and agree to just be friends. The question is can they both remember their original plan for friendship.
You will hold this story close to your heart long after you finish the story.

It's always fun when the main character has some quirks, and Ezra is definitely unique. He's a workaholic on his father's farm, so much so that his family forces him to take a vacation from chores. He and Margaret meet while he is practicing foraging in the woods like his grandfather did, and an unlikely friendship blossoms... somewhat awkwardly. I enjoyed their mishaps, banter, and growing feelings as they continue to meet during Ezra's sabbatical. The concept of someone with a wonderful personality growing more attractive as you get to know them is one that Margaret discovers, and helps her realize what she really wants in her life. I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to the next in the series!
