I enjoyed the premise of this story - teenagers waking up in a post-apocalyptic world, with weird weather patterns and some weird stuff going on.

The balance of characters is relatively good. There’s the ‘capable’ kids who seem sensible along with just the right amount of ‘annoying’ kids who just seem to mess about.

This feels like the first few chapters in a novel though. The pacing is slightly slow and it feels like the story is just getting started when it comes to an end.

I found this book to overall be pretty interesting since it was post apocalyptic versus the before and during aspects of that! I found the pacing to be good which I really enjoyed! I would’ve liked to have seen more info on who got picked to be put in the pods during the apocalypse but I found the characters to be relatable, especially their emotions during this book. I would be interested in the next book of the series!

I don’t really understand what happened with the publishing of this book. This should never have been allowed to be published like it is - it is seriously unfinished. There’s a start to a book, a sort of ‘middle’.... and then all of a sudden when it finally starts going somewhere there’s two words: “The End”.

Personally, I would have told the author to finish the damn book. This isn’t a trilogy material, it doesn’t end on a good cliffhanger and it feels really abrupt and unfinished.

In terms of the book characters / plot so far, it really isn’t all that bad. The plots a good idea but because it’s so unfinished it’s never fully explained and doesn’t make a lot of sense. The characters aren’t super likeable and quite frankly I don’t understand how any of them didn’t contract a weird infection after waking up from a cryo chamber with a stomach tube sticking out.

I wouldn’t recommend this until it’s been completed and republished as a complete story.

The synopsis of this one sounder amazing, boy wakes up surround by VHS tapes on the outskirts of an abandoned summer camp?? Count me in!

But unfortunately that’s where my fun ended, the writing came across as immature with flat, stereotype riddled characters.

“The boy lumbered over and gently caressed Kim’s stomach. “Me? Little ol’ me?” His initial smirk was now a full-on, smug smile. I bet he used to be a jock. “Puh-weese,” Kim pouted. She actually stuck out her bottom lip. He bent down and kissed her full lips”

For these reasons I’ve unfortunately decided to DNF it, and I’m sad about it.

This still may be the book for you, and I’m so grateful I received an ARC, but this wasn’t the book for me, and that’s ok.

This was a slow burn for me. I really just couldn't get into this book. Maybe it was the setting or the writing I honestly do not know...... The story is there. It just wasn't for me.

cryogenically frozen to see them get past the apocalypse but when the teenagers wake they find themselves in a forest and the lorry transported them crashed

as time goes on nothing makes any sense to the teenagers but survival is the name of the game

as you get to know the characters and their attitudes its amazing they stay friends....

but with the elements still making it rough for them, they have to come together to find the answers they want

not bad...i would read the next one in this series just to see how it turns out
