Two timelines, two heroines with troubled pasts, both abused merge in unexpected ways and include an old violin. A fascinating redemption story, which also includes discussion questions at the end. A good Christian themed book with minimal romance. I love everything the author has written and this is no different. She had a very unique storyline without disappointment.
This is the first book by Robin Lee Hatcher that I have read and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed "Make You Feel My Love" which is a time slip novel. Most of the novels that this author has written take place in the 1800s. This one has both modern and the 1800s. Cora Anderson escapes New York society from a domineering father who wants to marry her off to someone she doe not love. She escapes to Chickadee Creek with only her violin. She becomes a schoolteacher and meets Preston Chandler.
In the modern day story Chelsea Spenser's story is very similar in that she escapes to Chickadee Creek but she is escaping an abusive relationship. She helps her great aunt with her antique shop. She meets Liam Chandler, a well-known actor who has family roots in the area. Liam is dealing with his own set of problems having lost his younger brother and the breakup of his parent's marriage. He finds out some other news that he must deal with.
Of the two stories I think I enjoyed the modern day one. I enjoyed reading about Liam's struggle and how he dealt with it. Also the modern story had a hint of mystery at the end that kept me reading.
I hope the author intends to write more novels of this caliber.

I really enjoyed this time split novel by Robin Lee Hatcher. I loved the parallels between the two main female characters and how their stories connected. I also loved their reliance on God to get them through their fears and how they each grew throughout the story.
While I liked both time lines, I slightly preferred the current timeline because….Liam! What a great male character he is! I loved how we really got to know him through his journal. I also really loved his relationship with his brother and with Chelsea. Speaking of Chelsea, I really loved her and how she dealt with her fears especially during a climactic scene in her story.
The historical time line was well done. I really liked Cora and Preston. I loved how Cora stepped out in her own and eventually stood up for herself and her future!
Time slips have become some of my favorite types of stories and Make You Feel My Love by Robin Lee Hatcher is a great example as to why!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is medium.

Story Notes
Robin offers us a dual time story that teaches us about love, loss, hurt and finding a new place to belong.
Chickadee Creek isn't the first place one thinks of when looking for a story of romance but it seems that it is the place for two stories of romance, separated by 100 years. Cora Anderson is stuck. She is the only surviving child of her parents and her father has definite plans for her future: she will marry a wealthy and prominent man who will help raise the family's status in society. But Cora doesn't want to marry without love and be further controlled the rest of her life. But what can she do? Can she take a chance at leaving or is the path her father's designed the better course? Fast forward a hundred years to Liam Chandler, a burnt-out actor who is taking refuge in Chickadee Creek. He returned when his younger brother was battling cancer but has found solace in his cabin since his brother's passing. He doesn't need the money found in Hollywood and he is tired of playing roles that use more of his body than his brain. If only there was a role that could both challenge him and be meaningful in the world. Lacking that, Liam is content to stay in this small town and help out his neighbors as he can. The arrival of Chelsea Spencer in town will turn Liam's world on end in a way he never expected. Chelsea has come to help her Aunt Rosemary run the antique shop after Rosemary suffered a fall. Chelsea has some pain from the past that she's looking to outrun or, if possible, move beyond. She's sure she's seen Liam before but can't think what makes him so familiar. When she finds out he's a movie star, her walls of wariness go up quickly. No way does she want anyone from her past to know where she is now, especially if she wants to stay safe. But Liam and his kindness find a way befriend her and soon she is drawing strength from his faith. Can she really trust that Liam is what he presents himself to be - a kind and generous man? Or will her past keep her from trusting him with her heart? A mystery from the past is found in the antique shop that will bring Chelsea and Liam together to solve it. And along with it, answers to Liam's questions about his family will come to light too. Then it will be Chelsea's turn to lend Liam strength as he faces realities he never imagined.
This is one of those ponder while you read stories. You have to take your time to really get all the pieces so you can see the whole picture. And even then, it's probably best if you read it more than once to really get it all. There were lots of twists, turns and situations going on and all of them invite you to look deeper. I had a couple issues with the story, however, that kept me from giving it the full five stars. First, the story of Cora seemed a bit rushed towards the end. I would have liked more pages time given to feel like that story was fully developed. Everything was explained but too much of it in recall rather than present time for my liking. Also, the end of the story with Chealsea and Liam and her former boyfriend was a bit to rushed for me. I didn't really feel any fear for Chelsea nor for Liam and that could have been a really great passage of the story. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the story and liked how everything played out. I will recommend this story to others as I enjoyed it as a whole and am hopeful others might enjoy it as well.

This is a fantastic split time novel! The book’s present-day characters are Chelsea and Liam. As an actor who has struggled recently, Liam is in Chickadee Creek to deal with his grief. Chickadee Creek is the community his ancestors have been a part of for a long time. Chelsea is also dealing with her past which is why she escaped to the area to help her aunt. While helping her aunt organize her store, Chelsea finds a violin that belonged to Liam’s ancestor, Cora. The book alternates between present day and Cora’s life. Ms. Hatcher blends both stories together seamlessly and gives readers a lovely story. I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it! I loved how the story alternated between both times and the inspiration that is included in the storyline.
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.
This was an enjoyable, dual timeline read. It features two young women who are both escaping their home due to controlling fathers who use forms of punishment to control them to their will. Both women escape to Chickadee Creek Idaho: one to an aunt and the other to a teaching position. Chelsea Spencer ,in the p;resent day timeline, meets a young man who is taking a time away from his movie career to determine what he wants to do going forward with his life. Cora Anderson, in the historical timeline, meets a gentleman who had inherited money and is trying to use that money to build a life for himself. Can these men show Chelsea and Cora how to move beyond their pasts and what true love is really like?
The themes run deep throughout both story lines focusing on grief, trust, love, and faith. Two quotes summed the themes of this story up: "Don't rush back to the old normal," and "Nothing we go through is wasted in God's economy. Our hurts. Our mistakes. Even our own stupidity."

Make You Feel My Love by Robin Lee Hatcher is an excellent time-slip novel that follows two women, over a hundred years apart, as they search for freedom, safety, confidence, and love in the rural town of Chickadee Creek.
I didn’t use to like dual-time stories. I always tended to favor the historical timelines and felt cheated out of a longer, richer story because the pages were split between two stories. But novels like Make You Feel My Love have made me fall in love with this genre! The two timelines in this book are beautifully woven together--both in the connection between Liam and in ancestors who had lived in the area for over 100 years and in the fearful flight of Cora and Chelsea.
You will not feel cheated by this story. Its themes run deep as the characters work through issues with grief, trust, fear, and faith. There were so many beautiful and genuine scenes of human emotion. I was caught up in the moment right along with the characters time and again.
And unlike other time slip novels I’ve read, I didn’t favor one timeline over the other. They were both equally interesting, and I had to know how they ended as well as how they were connected.
One of my favorite parts of his book was Liam’s journal entries which were a journey through his grief over his brother’s passing and his faith in God. The truth Liam found on his own while choosing to face his brother’s death, his family’s dysfunction, and his desire to live according to God’s will spoke to me. They were often simple things, but sometimes it’s the simple truths that we aren’t willing to admit or live with.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and all its characters. If you are a fan of dual-time novels, you will like it, too! And if you haven’t tried many books from this genre, I encourage you to try this one!
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This was a very easy-to-read story which flowed smoothly and fast, but at the same time there was depth which we got through the characters’ journey to freedom - in both past and present timelines. Freedom from expectations, set paths, danger and to learn to Trust God completely.
I enjoyed both story lines, loved seeing both couples grow in their relationship but loved Peter and Cora’s steady, grounded love a bit more. I would have liked to spend a bit more time in their timeline and be more part of their story instead of only being given glimpses.
They way Chelsea grew stronger and overcame her fears as she grew in her newfound relationship with God felt realistic. Liam was just a great leading man and I loved seeing his personal thoughts and feelings through his journal entries.
I’m not sure if this will be a series, I hope there will be a sequel, since I want a bit more story around the pearls…and I’m not feeling ready to say goodbye to these characters.
Make you feel my love was a different book because it showed the 2 stories of the different couples. Me personally I don't like historical romance but this was a sweet story that I did like it. I sometimes got confused on what couples we were on. I think that the obstacles that they were facing I think that they were a little sugar coated from real life.
I loved that it was a sweet story that I found likable.
Make You Feel My Love is really a book unlike any other I have ever read before. Although it contained elements that are familiar to me–such as abusive relationships and love stories between regular people and movie stars–I have to say that the combination of the two, plus the dual storyline of Chelsea and Liam in present day and Cora and Preston in the 1890’s, really made this story stand out to me. Additionally, there were many unexpected details that came out the more that I read. In some instances, I did feel like the pace could have been picked up a bit more, and that there were a few filler scenes that could have been done without. However, I never could have expected some of the twists and turns that this novel contained, and I feel like that really made the story continue to stand out to me. I often can find it hard to stick with a novel if it is any way slow going to me, but this story kept throwing new things at me just when I thought that it was slowing down.
Robin Lee Hatcher also does a wonderful job of telling redemption stories. Throughout the entirety of this novel, I truly felt the way each character’s life had already been and was continuing to be changed forever. She really portrayed how Liam and Chelsea had been able to grow leading up to where we meet them in this story, and continued to show how they were allowing the Lord to grow them, and that was one of the parts I loved the most.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Movie star Liam Chandler is still healing after the death of his brother. Retreating to Chickadee Creek, Idaho, which his ancestors help settle years ago, Liam embraces a quiet life where he can remain anonymous.
Chelsea Spencer is hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend and helping her great-aunt Rosemary get back on her feet after surgery. As Chelsea helps organize Rosemary's antique store, she finds a priceless treasure that once belonged to one of Chickadee Creek's most prominent families.
In the historical half of the novel, Preston Chandler sets up his mining business while socialite-turned-schoolteacher Cora Anderson finds solace in the mountains after running from her past.
I've come to really enjoy Robin Lee Hatcher's split-time novels. Her characters are always interesting, and this time I especially related to Chelsea, who had a conservative upbringing not dissimilar to my own, though thankfully mine was not traumatic in the same way. I also appreciate how Robin uses short scenes to keep you turning pages. You want to find out what happens to the characters! The faith content is always solid as well. I'll be looking forward to her next release!
I received my copy of the book from JustReads Publicity. All thoughts in this review are my own.
Make You Feel My Love by Robin Lee Hatcher is a slowly unfolding, double romance. Two women, a century a part, are both running from dangerous situations and find hope, love, and freedom in the mountains of Idaho.
While the focus of the story is on the two women, Chelsea and Cora, and the violin that ties them together, it is the men who fall in love with them who capture the heart of the story for me. Preston and Liam have their own challenges, but the love they show the women who who steal their hearts is so sweet. I think this is especially the case because both women are fleeing horrible situations and, as such, are leery of men, relationships, and marriage.
I also liked how the author kept a difficult topic (or two) from becoming dark. The sweetness of the friendship between the characters does a lot to carry the story. And I love that the violin ties everyone together.
Make You Feel My Love is a sweet story of love, freedom, and fresh starts.

I have to say that I loved the way this book was written! It split the book between two time eras! I don't know if I've ever read a book like that before but it was very enjoyable. I'm very into family history so this was very interesting to me. Liam is an actor who recently lost his brother to cancer and he's reeling in sorrow. He escapes to his Idaho hideaway to mourn his loss. Chelsea is escaping her abusive relationship and abusive home life and settles in with a beloved aunt who owns an antique store. She finds a violin that belonged to Liam's great grandmother and therein begins the parallel story of Cora, the great-grandmother and what happened to her and her eventually marriage to Preston. The two stories are followed. Liam becomes enthralled with his history while also trying to figure out his parent's marriage that seems to be falling apart. I loved the drama, the sweetness, the family history and everything about this book! I didn't want it to end! The characters were written so well. I didn't mind going back and forth between time either!
Make You Feel My Love is a wonderful blend of present and past families intertwined in a small town where most can name generations of history. The unexpected find of a rare violin brings the two returning-to-town main characters together. One is grieving a loss, the other escaping toxic relationships. Together, they find courage to overcome the hits their self-esteem has taken. Both have decisions to make. Best of all, both find beauty through Faith that reminds them that neither is ever alone. Researching the history of the mysterious violin and the town’s founding families brings this couple closer. Both review their interactions with their families and find strength in themselves as the parallel flashback darknesses in the past give way to the beautiful light of love.
Chickadee Creek is a place of healing and rejuvenation for an actor, a woman fleeing a bad relationship and, a century before them, a woman escaping family expectations. Make You Feel My Love by Robin Lee Hatcher is a dual-time novel that is full of discovery, soul mending, and new beginnings.
As someone who lived in the state for several years, I always enjoy visiting Idaho again in Hatcher’s books. She brings the beauty of the area to life and those small towns are alive and well. But even more, the depth in her stories resonates with me.
The way Liam and Chelsea’s modern-day story connects with Cora and Preston’s historical one is well-done. Each timeline is interesting on its own, but once the connection occurs, they are even more satisfying. And I appreciated Liam and Chelsea’s friendship that grew into more.
Hatcher delivers another read that will delight both contemporary and historical romance fans with wonderful characters (and one memorable pup) that you should not miss.

I liked how with this book, even though there was romance, it wasn't the main focus. Instead, the author used God's word as healing for the characters. Each one, there are four POVs here, needed reminded of goodness and grace somewhere in this story. I liked how they were connected through this violin, but I wished there had been more of this pivotal plot piece in the story. I also felt like the story built slowly and ended way too quickly. However, I loved the characters. Their authenticity and struggles felt real and relatable. I also found that I loved the wisdom of the supporting characters in the book. While they weren't the main focus, their presence added a richness to the story.
If you're a fan of romance with a historical timeline, I recommend checking this one out. It's out now.
What a good, uplifting story! This is a dual timeline book, with one story taking place in the present and the other story mostly taking place in the late 1800’s. I liked that the stories were connected not only through family lineage, but also in the way that the main characters of Cora and Chelsea had to let go of their fears and put their trust in God.
I loved the present day storyline between Chelsea and Liam. What a wonderful connection these two made! They both had some very painful things to work through and I appreciated that they both leaned on God to help them. Liam’s faith, which he had not focused on very strongly for the past few years, grew deeper. Chelsea was a new believer and it was wonderful to see her relying on Bible verses to help her overcome all that weighed her down.
I really liked that Chelsea, who had endured so much abuse as a child and as a young adult, was starting a fresh, new life. And who did she end up with? A handsome, good, and wonderful man who just happened to be a movie star! That added a fun twist to things. The romance that bloomed between Chelsea and Liam was just perfect, too.

Make You Feel My Love by Robin Lee Hatcher is a wonderful book. She is a great author and I don't know why she has recently popped up on my radar. The books I've read by her are Contemporary Christian Fiction. These books often remind me to lean on my faith. I think it is something some of us forget in our everyday lives now and then.
There are two time lines in this story. One starting in 1895 and the other is modern day. I loved both timeliness equally well and got so involved when reading one that I sometimes went kicking and screaming to the other. It only took a paragraph or two and I was completely immersed again.
The books by Hatcher I've read have such great characters and I love a story that is character driven rather than by events only. These characters have a say in how they deal with life and what is thrown at them. They find a way to deal with the the challenges that come their way. I like that! Makes me remember I have that ability also with God walking with me every step of the way.
I feel renewed after reading Make You Feel My Love! I will live in that cocoon for several days. Isn't that a special book? If you love Robin Lee Hatcher, you'll want to read this one. If you do, let me know what you think! If you haven't read any of her books yet, this is a good one to start with.
I received a copy of this book from #ThomasNelson/#Netgalley for a fair and honest review. Thank you!
Fleeing from an abusive relationship, Chelsea moves to Chickadee Creek to help look after her great-aunt's antique shop (and her great-aunt) following an accident. Liam, film actor, is in Chickadee Creek to recover from the trauma of his brother's death, and is instantly intrigued by Chelsea, though not sure he's ready for a relationship. The discovery in the antique shop of an old and valuable violin that used to belong to Liam's great-great(?)-grandmother excites them both and prompts them to investigate his family history - a process which involves spending time together. But as Liam begins to consider the possibilities of a relationship, he's offered a role in an exciting new film. Is it possible to have both? And when Chelsea's past comes knocking, will even Liam's love be enough to save her?
Though I'm not always a fan of dual-timeline stories, the parallel stories in this book, tied together by the violin, worked better than many such do - there were various similarities between Cora's and Chelsea's stories, which I liked, and the way the ending brought the two together was beautiful. As usual with this author, the writing was good and the characters felt real, which made for a thoroughly enjoyable read. Recommended.

Robin Lee Hatcher is one of those super-consistent authors, where "you know it's going to be good." (Lol, I might have just used my local grocery store's slogan there. But, it's still true!)
I am constantly amazed at the sheer quantity of books she has produced over the years, and that each one is quality! She doesn't sacrifice plot or character development just to produce another read, and it shows; "Make You Feel My Love" is no exception.
Juggling four different points of view (and, granted, in an eARC with the occasional formatting wonkiness that's fully to be expected) was interesting at times, but I did really enjoy getting insight into each character from both their own inner thoughts and interactions with others. The timeslip component was well done; I did expect a bit more in-depth tie-in, but still enjoyed what it did offer! And omw, Chipper was just a delightful dog. I'm not usually attached to in-book pets, but this one was particularly enjoyable.
