I enjoyed the writing style, easy to follow.
I won this ebook on a Twitter comp but was having problems downloading it so ended up requesting it on NetGalley to be able to read it.
Whilst enjoyable and easy reading this book struggles a little bit to find its identity.
According to the blurb it is celebrating the good when things go bad... but in some of the stories there is nothing wrong, they just seem to be a bit of a brag or a gloat by the author of amazing places she has been and things she has done.
It was hard for me to feel any empathy with someone who lives quite such an exotic and exciting life – boat racing, plane racing, jetting off here, there and everywhere for skiing trips in winter and summer holidays on top, houses abroad etc.
On the whole, while you’re trying to tell me how terrible things have been, I can only dream and wish that I’d ever be lucky enough to experience even half of these things in my lowly life!
If you like reading about other people’s holidays and aren’t too bothered about finding Schadenfreude to make yourself feel better then this is a great book. Otherwise I would probably say they are better ‘disaster come good’ readers out there.
Oh, these were good! I enjoy books like this- short little snippets of someone's life- and humorous. It's akin to reading bits of someone's journal. It's all pretty relatable, too. Life throws stuff our way- husbands, ex's, child(ren), pets, jobs, school, etc- and things go south when least expected. But it's all survivable and really won't matter in the grand scheme of things. Best find the sunny side! And Susie Kelly has done just that! Truly an enjoyable book. So grab a cup or glass of something, find a sunny spot, and be prepared to have a a knowing laugh!
