Out of the Easy is a historical book set in New Orleans. The book is beautifully written but the plot did not go far. I liked the descriptions of the setting. You will enjoy this book if you like historical books set in a vibrant place, touching on elements of history that are not usually in books.
Sepetys has a way of pulling you into the story and you feel like you are there. This book was well written and I couldn’t put it down. I’ve been to New Orleans and she definitely captured thee essence of the city.
Sepetys always delivers an amazing story and this is no exception. Set in New Orleans, this is a beautiful southern story, which always seems to carry a little extra mystery, a secret kept by many for too long, and its gradual unveiling.
Still in print and a great look at New Orleans in this earlier book from Sepetys. Different from her other books, this focuses on 1950's New Orleans.
This is suddenly one of the most requested books at my library--requested by adults no less. This historical fiction shows a forgotten brothel in New Orleans, a girl in a bookshop and a life she wants to leave behind. It's all put together so beautifully and brings the reader into the story. Perfect for teens and adults.
