Leda Foley is a psychic newbie who uses her powers to do psychic karaoke and also to help her travel agent clients get on the right flights. She is sucked into the psychic detective world after helping a detective get on the right flight, in which he then asks her to join him on solving a cold case. I thought the psychic karaoke was cute. I did not think there were enough psychic moments throughout the book. It seems like she doesn't start cracking the case with her psychic powers until 80% into the book. It seems like she just wakes up one day and knows who the killer is. I also did not enjoy reading her conversations with her friend Niki, which took up a lot of the book. I was bored for most of the book and did not like the characters. I am not a fan of this book, and I do not think it was a good mystery. Other people enjoyed it, so don't just take my word. Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for this e ARC in echchange for my honest opinion.

This book did not disappoint. It was funny, suspenseful, and everything in between. If you love murder mysteries, psychic abilities, and just all around great books, check this one out!

This was super cute and I feel like it would be an awesome TV show. I loved how everything came together in this. It was a really fun and fast read, absolutely perfect for the beach.

This was such a fast-paced, quick read. A quirky mystery with 3D characters, Grave Reservations features a psychic travel agent whose “powers” help save a Seattle police detective from a fiery flight.
Detective Grady quickly ropes Leda Foley into helping him crack a cold case. The problem? Her psychic abilities are... inconsistent at best. She’s been flexing her clairvoyant muscles a bit with a fun karaoke gig at a local bar, and she’s hoping IF she can somehow help Grady, he’ll return the favor by looking into her own connection to a cold case.
Grave Reservations is packed with a cast of quirky characters, plenty of action, a beautifully executed mystery, and tons of LOL scenes. You’ll love the found family, friendships, and fresh premise.
This was one of the best setups for a series I’ve read in awhile! Some series openers seem like they take too much away from the plot and original story, but this is spot on. BONUS: There are no MAJOR cliffhangers, but enough juicy information that will convince you to pick up the next one! Thanks to Atria Books for a digital review copy of Grave Reservations!

This was a fun, quick, easy read. It reminded me of the Darynda Jones, without the big love interest. But it had the same fun spirit with the quirkiness, and the best friend and the supernatural abilities.
This was a really enjoyable read.
I want to thank the author, the publisher and #netgalley for the ARC which did not impact my review.

A psychic travel agent and a Seattle PD detective team up to solve several murders and assaults that turn out to be related. Along the way we meet Leda's band of friends from the bar where she does Klairvoyant Karaoke. I would like to see more of Grady's daughter and dog. We watch the gang travel around Seattle looking for clues. Looking forward to the further adventures of Leda and the gang.

Grave Reservations was an unputdownable read of comic mystery and will be enjoyed by fans of Finlay Donovan Is Killing It!!
Thank you @atriabooks for the #gifted advance copy of this novel in exchange of my honest opinion!
Author Cherie Priest has portrayed a colorful story where Leda a psychic travel agent along with Seattle detective officer Grady solves murder mysteries of crimes committed at an interval of couple years!
I loved the character of Leda, who is sharpening her psychic abilities by performing klairvoyant karaoke at her an open mic nights and how she saves Grady’s life by canceling his flight. Grady and Leda form a strong team committed to solve the mystery! Leda’s friend Nikki was another one of my favorite characters. She unconditionally supported her friend Leda no matter the situation.
This was a very fast paced, enjoyable, read that I highly recommend to put in your pre orders today for Oct 26, 2021 release!

Cherie Priest is known as a writer of horror, steampunk, and science fiction, including the Locus Award-winning novel Boneshaker. When she set out to write a mystery, she wrote a witty one set in Seattle, featuring a great cast of characters. Two thumbs up for Grave Reservations, and maybe we’ll see more of Leda Foley.
Leda Foley is the travel agent owner of Foley’s Far-Fetched Flights of Fancy. She’s also sort-of psychic. She used to ignore those strong “feelings”, but she doesn’t when she reroutes Grady Merritt’s flight. She just knows he shouldn’t get on the flight from Orlando to LAX to Seattle. As he’s running late through the Orlando airport, he’s on the phone complaining to her that he doesn’t want to go through Atlanta. She insists it’s the flight that will get him home that night, as he promised his teenage daughter, and says, “If you die and go to hell in the South, you have to stop in Atlanta first.” He realizes he might have died if she hadn’t rerouted him, as he watches the ball of fire that was his original plane.
Leda worries about everything, but fifteen years later, still vents to her high school best friend, Niki. When she realizes Grady Merritt is a cop, she worries instead of being grateful he wasn’t on the first flight, he’ll think she had prior knowledge that the plane would go up in flames. When Grady shows up at her office, she panics, only to discover he wants to hire her, with his own money, to help solve a murder.
Leda has been honing her psychic skills, doing frequent “klairvoyant karaoke” at a bar, holding items owned by customers, and picking a song that might apply to them. Now, she thinks she can try to apply those skills to Grady’s case. But, blinding white lights and occasional insights force her to conclude that Grady’s murder investigation links to a murder from three years earlier when Leda’s fiance, Tod, was shot and left for dead in his car.
Despite the number of times Leda freaks or passes out when she’s at a crime scene or working with Grady, she refuses to let go. With the support of Niki and her other friends from the bar, Leda and Grady process her insights and related clues. The humor and the supportive cast of characters is creative and interesting. At times, the investigation itself became a little messy, and Grady seemed to have an extraordinary amount of time to devote to his case from eighteen months earlier. But, if you’re looking to try a fun mystery with a lead character who is a little different, give Grave Reservations and a psychic travel agent a try.

What a fun mystery this was!
We have Leda, who is sharpening her psychic skills through "klairvoyant karaoke" and gets involved with local police by saving the chief from walking onto a plane destined for emergency. The chief is sold on her abilities, and involves her in a case. What ensues is pure delight!
I really enjoyed this book - it was a break from the serious mystery genre and was so lighthearted. I sense it is the start of a new series - I am in!
Thankful for the ARC!

Grave Reservations is a promising start to a new series by Cherie Priest. Leda Foley is a travel agent that also is a clairvoyant. Still processing her talent, she helps a police officer solve some murders. This was an easy, fun read. Quirky characters will have you quickly turning the pages. Looking forward to more adventures with Leda!

Such an amazing book! I was hooked from the beginning. The way the story was written, the development of the characters, the twists. It was fantastic and I could hardly put it down. It wasn’t written in a stereotypical way that psychics are sometimes portrayed as. I loved Leda and how she grew to be more confident in herself and her abilities. By the end of the book she knew she still didn’t have her abilities down to a science but she was open to taking the leap and I really enjoyed that about her. There was no wrap it up in a bow and everything is closed ending but yet the opening for a new beginning. She helped Grady crack his case and she found some sense of closure and was ready to start anew. It was all very realistic. The only thing about the book and characters that I didn’t like is how Leda and Niki, when together during the investigation, sometimes came off as immature and annoying. It got under my skin but not enough for me to put the book down or stop reading it. Job well done!! I look forward to picking up other books by the author. Loved it!

4.5⭐
I thoroughly enjoyed the quirkiness and sarcasm of this book. It was a fun and fast-paced read. Leda is definitely a character that I won't be forgetting any time soon. I loved that that was so invested in solving the murders she was helping consult with Grady.
Leda is a psychic and uses karaoke to sharpen her abilities. She touches things that belong to people and then chooses a song she thinks they need. Most of the time she is spot on with her abilities. Kind of like when she calls one of her clients and saves him from dying on a plane he is supposed to board.
Grady is a detective who is a single dad to a teenage girl. He is dedicated to his work and tries to always do the right thing. When he books Leda as his travel agent, he never knew she would end up saving his life. But, things happen for reasons and Leda and Grady begin to help each other with cases that have been bothering them both for years.
Like I mentioned before, this book was fast-paced and the mystery and twists were really good too! I just wanted more scene surrounding Grady and his daughter. I loved they dynamic and wanted more. I also really loved Nikki and Leda's friendship. They were definitely soul sisters on a different level. They complimented each other well and understood each other's needs in their friendship. It was really nice to read about!
If you're looking for a fast-paced, quirky, funny, and a determined character based book with a good detective murder mystery, definitely give this book a try. I think you'd really enjoy it!

This was a great book. Characters that I really like, and great pacing as they work through the mystery. Beginning travel agent by day, psychic by night. Plus the klairvoyant karaoke was a great idea. Can't wait for continuing adventures.

I expected a light fun quick read. It started that way - but then got a bit draggy... I felt like it needed a bit of severe editing in the middle, because the fantastic characters started to feel monotonous in their interactions and their responses to the developing story came to feel all too predictable and much less fun... This uneven feeling kept pulling me out of the action more than I wanted it to, and i found my attention pesking and flagging in alternating bouts. Still, it's a cool concept and a fun cast of characters for all that, just not quite the quick engaging read I expected...

Okay guys, I loved this one! Leda is a travel agent by day and psychic by night. By coincidence she books a vacation for a police officer & helps him out of a huge bind. Grady (the police officer) asks Leda to help him solve a multiple murder case that he hasn’t solved. This book was filled with connections, karaoke, friendship, and murderish twists & turns.
This is the perfect read for someone who loves cozy mysteries with added flair. You can pick this one up this October!
Thank you to @netgalley, @simonandschuster, and @skullsandpinkflamingos for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Loved the story! The “psychic songstress” was a clever way to work into assisting with the investigation. The ending sets the stage for an interesting series to follow. I’d like to read more - and know where Leda and Grady will investigate next!

Cozy and yet not, this funny mystery features an imprecisely psychic travel agent who does clairvoyant karaoke for drinks and a police detective who seeks her help on a case--that just may relate to the murder of our psychic's fiancee—after she saves his life. Cherie Pries has chops, and if you know her from other genres, trust me, she delivers as she dips her toe into a new one.

The Psychic Psongstress... and a cop. This book was so much fun to read. It was a well written and not too dark mystery about trying to uncover a murderer.
Grave Reservations is about Leda, a travel agent who also happens to be psychic. When she helps a cop not get on a dangerous plane, he comes back to town and enlist her help to discover new clues about a murder that has gone cold. She is hoping that through helping this cop she can also discover who murdered her finace without a clear motive.
This book kept me guessing the entire time. I had no idea who did it until the end, and the author did a great job of wrapping up the case and explaining all the components. I don't have any complaints about this book and I think it is a great read!

Rounding this up to 3 stars.
It felt slow and honestly, the characters did nothing for me. For it being a first in a potential series of Grady and Leda, the author did a pretty poor job setting us up for that. We know almost next to nothing about either of them. I was hoping this would get better and it didn't. As an avid reader, it should have been a DNF and I regret wasting my time. 2 stars seems to cruel, but 3 stars is a meh, not for me but it was just ok.

Wow! Wow wow wow wow! I was skeptical that a book about murder could also be funny while maintaining an air of seriousness, but this really surprised me.
Leda is a great character: she’s fun, determined, and relatable. Running a new travel agency, her so called spidey-senses tingle and she saves a client from boarding a plane that winds up exploding. Turns out that customer was a detective for the Seattle police department- and he has an interesting proposition for Leda.
Grady and Leda are similar in the sense that they’re both determined, but I think that each character brings out something in the other. Grady makes Leda a little more serious, while Leda brings him back down to earth, reminding him that life is about more than just work.
There are three plot lines- or should I say cases- that are really the focus of this book: Grady’s, which is about a father / son duo murdered several years ago, Leda’s, in which her fiancé was shot and left in the backseat of his own drowned car, and the case that Grady and Leda set into motion with their new investigation. In the beginning it was kind of hard to keep the cases separate, because Grady and Leda were both so into their own, but as the book progressed and the pair dug up new clues, the cases began to coalesce into one big case neither saw coming.
I guessed who the murderer was about half-way through, but I always have to try a guess; if you’re the type to read crime fiction and not guess, I still think you’ll be surprised and excited when you finally see the pieces fall together. The pace of the book really picks up about 3/4 of the way through, and I just could not out it down. I got bad feelings and high adrenaline and had to see the resolution.
Aside from Grady and Leda the rest of the characters are t super fleshed out, but they were still fun and it was nice to see how Grady and Leda interacted with people outside of their usual zones, especially when Leda’s friend Niki essentially invites herself to join Grady and Leda’s investigation. The cast is eclectic and fun, even if they aren’t necessary to further the plot. In fact, it’s the side characters that allow for much of the comedy to take place- I particularly love the part where Leda is explaining her much beloved murder board to her friends and co-workers, attempting to make the connection between cases and the suspect clear.
It wasn’t as spooky as I had hoped, but there’s a happy resolution. Also, there’s no romance! I was definitely hoping something would happen between Grady and Leda, but I’m not disappointed they remained strictly platonic friends, surprisingly. I think I’m just so used to reading things with some level of romance that I was a little surprised a book with none whatsoever managed to capture my attention so completely.
Grave Reservations was overall a joy to read, and a wholly different kind of crime fiction!
