Grave Reservations is a story about a struggling travel agent Leda Foley and her quirky talent for psychic impressions - right or wrong. She's still learning. When she saves the life of a Seattle PD detective because of a psychic impression, they join forces in search of a killer, maybe two. Leda is determined to unravel the mystery of who killed her ex-fiance. When the killer decides Leda is causing problems, she must do what she can to protect herself and her friends.
Grave Reservations is a light-hearted mystery escapade, with an unlikely cast of characters working together to follow a trail that had gone cold. For those who aren't into gripping, adrenaline-rushing suspense thrillers, this is a perfect read. And it seems to end with more to come.

Thank you, NetGalley, Cherie Priest, and Simon and Schuster, for allowing me to give an honest review.

Such a cool and interesting plot! Reminds me of a female version of that show The Mentalist. I feel as though this could be the first of many stories about Grady and Leda and I'm here for it!

This was a cute read. A kind of psychic travel agent teams up with a detective. I wish I had saved this to read by the pool.

Those who love cozy mysteries like recent Arsenic and Adobo are sure to love this quirky romp. Part paranormal, part comedy, part police procedural, it's a perfect beach or holiday read. The prose is fairly casual, though it mostly fits with the characters and the descriptions are hilarious and lean into a cinematic-type read. You'll love Leda!

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of GRAVE RESERVATIONS by Cherie Priest in exchange for an honest review. Leda Foley, struggling travel agent, can’t keep herself from acting on a hunch and changing a client’s flight without his permission. When the client, Seattle Police Detective Grady Merritt, misses the originally-booked flight in time to see it pull away from the departure gate, his irritation is somewhat soothed. When Detective Merritt sees the plane blow up on the runway, he’s intrigued. Detective Merritt finds Leda and offers to pay her from his own pocket to act as a consultant in a cold case he’s working. Leda protests the inconsistency and general uselessness of her psychic abilities but reluctantly agrees to help out. Leda hopes that, if she can help Detective Merritt on this case, he will help her solve her fiancé’s murder.

I liked this book and hope there may be more to come. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, cold cases, psychics, and karaoke.

This book was really really good! Lol I loved it! It had mystery, suspense, action, and a who done it! Which is my favorite! The characters were quirky, fun, and just so interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! I really enjoyed reading this one! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Hope they'll be more!

This is a fun departure by author Cherie Priest into the cozy mystery genre. Leda Foley, the “inconsequential” psychic becomes a police consultant after saving Detective Grady Merritt from an airplane crash. They are joined by best friend, Niki Nelson, an injured-bartender, and Kelly Merritt, Grady’s teenage daughter as they try to solve a cold case that also involves Leda’s dead fiancé. The mystery isn’t very complex, but the characters are fun. The parts that included Klairvoyant Karaoke aka Psychic Psongtress were very enjoyable. I recommend this book. It would be a good book club choice for Fall. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Grave Reservations by Cherie Priest is a comedic mystery that will appeal to readers of 2021 releases, Siri, Who am I? or Finlay Donovan is Killing It. If you're in the mood for a light-hearted mystery, look no further! The story revolves around Leda, a travel agent who is also a psychic. She doesn't do readings though. Her psychic powers appear in flashes, and she uses them primarily at Klairvoyant Karaoke by singing songs that she thinks people want to hear. That all changes one day when she changes the flight ticket of a police officer based on a feeling and ends up saving his life.

Here is an excerpt from an opening chapter when Leda talks with Grady Merritt, the police officer:

"Any minute, Mr. Merritt. I apologize again about not contacting you before I made the alterations, but I grabbed the last upgraded seat assignment on flight 3422. More leg room and free booze is lucky, right? I promised you’d be home in Seattle today, and I intend to fulfill that promise. Please believe me when I tell you this: You would have never made it home tonight. Not if you’d caught that flight.”
“What do you mean, I wouldn’t have made it home?”
“I don’t know exactly. It’s just a feeling I had. A very strong feeling.”“You changed my flight . . . because you had a feeling.”
She nodded, like he could hear her head rattle over the cell connection. “A very strong feeling, I think I’ve made that clear.”

Soon, Leda and Grady become buddy-cops as they investigate a murder that might have ties to the murder of Leda's fiancee years ago. When I read the description, I was reminded of the Psychic Eye series by Victoria Laurie, which is my absolute favorite mystery series. In fact, I think fans of that series or cozy mystery series in general will like this book a lot. I flew through this book, and I couldn't put it down. I had to find out how Leda uses her powers to solve the mysteries. I ended up finishing it in a few hours. I did take off one star because I felt that it was lacking in comedy and in action for most of the plot. However, if you're a fan of comedic mysteries, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in October!

Grave Reservations by Cherie Priest is such a FUN mystery! I loved reading a mystery with a fun, young, relatable protagonist. Leda is a psychic travel agency owner who teams up with a dreamy detective to investigate a cold case in her hometown of Seattle. Add in psychic karaoke and a witty best friend and you've got my new favorite mystery series! I can't wait to see what case Leda cracks next!

I love the main characters. The city is as much a part of the narration and the characterization as any of the people. I felt the ending was a bit rushed and the addition of psychic karaoke somewhat hokey. The reader is left hanging, and it makes me anticipate a series. I am not sure I am invested enough to want to keep following the adventure of this psychic detective and police consultant.

The plot: Burgeoning psychic helps a detective with an unsolved mystery that also involves her murdered fiance.
My opinion: This one was a super fun read. The main character, Leda, is funny and flawed and relatable. The mystery was interesting to follow, especially when Leda's mystery and Grady's mystery collide. Quick read. Recommended.

I wanted to enjoy this but found myself yawning at the text and being able to predict it to the point that I skipped to the end and found I predicted the right ending.

If a murder mystery can be described as cute, this one is. Leda Foley is a down on her luck travel agent/psychic singer when she saves a Seattle police officer Grady Merritt from boarding a plane destined to crash.
They end up joining forces to solve a cold case with his police procedures and her off the wall undependable psychic flashes, and end up also looking into the murder of Leda’ fiancé.
Along for the ride is Leda’s best friend, Niki, the employees of Leda’s local bar, and Grady’s daughter.
I was immediately pulled in to the story and cared about all of it’s quirky characters.
Hope there will be sequels.

I absolutely loved this book. It's a light hearted mystery with a often comical psych in it. Worth the read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for giving me early access to the novel! I often read 'serious' mysteries/thrillers, so it's nice to read more lighthearted mysteries from time to time. I would definitely put this book in that category. It's a good mix of mystery and humor. As one can't choose half stars, I am giving 3 stars, but really consider it to be something between 3.5 and 3.8. The jokes were sometimes immature, dated, or over the top, which is why I am unable to say 4 or 5, but it was a generally fun, quick read.

I loved this book. It’s a funny witty murder mystery which is a departure for this author. Leda is a travel agent with some psychic powers who rebooks a client’s trip at the last minute which saves him from a plane crash. The client is a police detective named Grady. He convinces Leda to work with him to solve a father/son murder case which they soon realize may be tied to the death of Leda’s fiancé years ago. The characters were fun and witty and this was a very enjoyable read. I hope this becomes a series as I look forward to Leda’s future adventures.

This book is just fun. After Leda uses her psychic powers to keep a homicide detective from getting on a plane that was about to crash, he asks for her help to try and solve a cold murder case. Because why not? It's not overly funny, but it is definitely entertaining. Think Spellman Files or most of Charlaine Harris' series. If you like those, this will probably be just the thing.

This was a really cute book with humor & quirky characters. Although this book had a mystery, I really wouldn't classify the book under that genre, because there wasn't a lot of clues and the mystery was resolved in a sudden way without a lot of detective work (sort of like the Stephanie Plum novels). Overall this was a well-written and fluffy book, and I could see it being turned into a series or even a tv show!
