This is a good book and a very good series. I hate to see it end and I’m looking forward to reading Junkers story.
Sheridan and Vanessa make a very compelling couple. Their relationship started out with secrets on both sides. Each one using the other for information and jealousy. Will love show them the way or will it all end before they realize their love?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love to have mystery in the books I read, and this one did not disappoint. Overall, this was a strong, well-written book. The novel took me on a mysterious, lush journey that left me wanting more. It was a combination of lovable characters, undeniable passion, and fantastic storytelling.

Sheridan and Vanessa were great characters. Vanessa’s unrequited love for Sheridan drove every facet of her life. I felt Vanessa’s frustration with Sheridan. She was a schemer, but it came from a pure place in her heart. Sheridan was oblivious to Vanessa’s preoccupation with him, even when he felt a connection to her. At times I was aggravated with Sheridan for being so clueless, but it was also endearing. Both characters were brilliantly written, and their connection undeniable.

The underlying story is weaved throughout several books. I felt the book was solid as an individual book. The mystery was intricate, and I didn’t know who the culprit was until the very end. The plot had good momentum, and I sped through the chapters. The secondary characters and visual backdrop both enriched the story.

The love story is a slow burn. There were a lot of obstacles the couple had to face before they could explore their mutual attraction. When the problems evaporated, the passion was undeniable. There was an underlying sensuality that was constant throughout the book. The plot had twists and turns and kept me engaged.

Unrequited love stories are sometimes not my favorite. However, this one pleasantly surprised me. It was sharp, vivid, and passionate. The plot kept me invested, and the romance was riveting. This book is an entertaining, energetic read!

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley and Kensington Books. This is my honest, voluntary opinion.

Finally! Undercover Duke is the culmination of the Duke Dynasty series and the novella A Perfect Match. When I saw it available as an ARC, I knew I did not want to wait for it to be published to find out ‘whodunnit’ to the Dowager Duchesses husbands. I loved the premise of this sweet, little lady who has ‘birthed’ three dukes. Yes, definitely by three different men, but that is what makes the series so interesting. In addition, she had two other children. From the very beginning of the series, Sheridan has suspected the accidents that keep taking the lives of those around him are not really accidents. Throughout the series, the ‘situation/s’ are investigated. Each book of in the series brings another piece of the puzzle to the investigation of who is killing people and making it look like an accident. It just takes a bit to convince his siblings.

Back to Undercover Duke with Sheridan and Vanessa’s romance. Although extremely handsome and Dukely, Sheridan is not your typical duke in that he is a bit more introspective, unlike his siblings. He, also, works very hard not to fall in love with Vanessa while trying to determine her mother’s secrets. He begins to believe he must protect her from the very man she states she loves. HA! Adorable Vanessa definitely has him fooled.

Vanessa is smart, independent and strong. Just the lady Sheridan needs in his life. Ms. Jeffries has wrapped clues, dismissed leads, offered sensual romances throughout the series of the dowager duchess’s ‘dukely’ sons, their love interest and their siblings. Each book could be read as a standalone, but I thoroughly enjoyed them in succession. I loved how Ms. Jeffries, kept the siblings connected throughout the series. No one is left behind.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it! I'll start by reading the others in this series. There was a game of chicken being played between the two main characters, withholding their affections from one another and you have to wait until the very end to see them fully let down their guards - and it takes quite the event to make that happen. However, you can tell where the novel is going and the ending is not a surprise. Enjoyable read.

This is the first series I have read by Sabrina Jeffries and I have to say she has turned me into a major Regency Romance fan. I love this time period with all the crazy rules that one had to follow or risk being scandalized. I have loved getting to know this family. We finally get the conclusion to the mystery of who killed the Dowager Duchess’ previous husbands. Vanessa is a lot of fun. She is feisty, a perfect match for Sheridan. This book was the perfect conclusion to the series. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

4.5 stars - Undercover Duke is the perfect conclusion to this series! Here we get to see the final duke in the family marry a fantastic and fearsome lady. What a treat! The culprit wasn’t a shock, but when my suspicions were confirmed, I had to think back to his/her presence in previous stories. It was minimal, which was actually a clue for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I LOVED the first two thirds of this book - our heroine is great flirtatious fun and knows exactly what she wants, the fake-dating plot has the cute twist that they really were setting their sights on each other from the very beginning, and the oh-whoops-no-I--totally-meant-I-like-that-OTHER-guy gambit in order to save face with your friends is both deeply human and totally charming. Our hero and heroine have great, fun chemistry, and the undercurrent of a slow-burn mystery plot gives the hero a little bit of extra depth.

Then, the last third of the book happened.

About 2/3 of the way along, it becomes a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT book. Like, the characters’ names all stay the same, but that’s it. Our fun, scheming, go-getter heroine who would flirt with anything that moves suddenly becomes a bizarre cartoon innocent with approximately two point five brain cells. A vague mystery side-plot suddenly takes over the whole story, and ends with the hero LITERALLY MURDERING his own butler, in front of everyone, because said butler has apparently been killing the hero’s mother’s long line of husbands one by one. The hero’s mother apparently had a FOURTH (well, first, technically?) husband/lover, who was the murderer-turned-murdered butler’s secret brother.

And I just...I'm so confused. And, frankly, deeply disappointed. The first 2/3 was SO good. What ever happened to the fun and blatantly flirty heroine? I liked her! What happened to our hero who actually LIKED HER, rather than just tolerated her? Nope, apparently he's gone too. What happened to their friends, and that poet she fake-crushed on, and the heroine's conflict with her emotionally abusive mother? Apparently the narrative didn't care anymore.

I don't know what happened. Pandemic hit, and the whole thing went off the rails? No idea. I get the mystery plot needing resolution - I'm even on board with that. But it needed to be integrated into the story we were ALREADY reading, and that...didn't happen. We just abandoned one for the other. And lost our original heroine along the way.

I truly love this series, and this latest book was great. While the plot is somewhat predictable, it is completely enjoyable.
Sheridan is determined to never marry and forget his one true love, Helene, who died six years ago, and whom he never got a chance to marry. Vanessa, however , has her heart set on marrying Sheridan, but he thinks she is in love with a playwright. When they are discovered in a compromising position, will they do the right thing and marry, or will their stubbornness get in the way of their happiness? Not to mention the investigation into the murders of the Duchesses late husbands, including Sheridan's father. They may be getting closer to solving the mystery of who wanted all the men dead, and why.
Love the banter between the brothers, as well as the wives. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgallry in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. A very satisfying conclusion to the Duke Dynasty series, Sabrina Jeffries does not disappoint! I'd recommend binge reading the previous 3 to remind you of all the complex family histories or take a close look at the family tree included at the beginning!

Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage, is working with his siblings to solve the mystery of suspicious deaths in his family. One witness he need to question is mother to Vanessa Pryde, a captivating miss with a secret crush on the duke. Vanessa fakes an attraction to another man and, when Sheridan’s jealousy becomes aroused, the two find themselves in a compromising position.

This is the fourth book in the Duke Dynasty series. It is best read in order with the other books because of the overarching investigation and complex family tree. Many of the couples and characters from the previous novels play a role.

This story was an enjoyable read, although I cared more about the intrigue with the murders than I did about Vanessa and Sheridan's relationship. They enter into a fake courtship as Sheridan is trying to accomplish dual goals: interrogate Vanessa's mother, and prove to Vanessa that the man Sheridan thinks Vanessa wants is actually a cad. There was an additional "roadblock" of Sheridan not wanting to marry (and an explanation why) that I thought could have been omitted in order to streamline all the other secrets and intrigue that kept stacking up.

The foreshadowing was very good. I guessed the villain early in the story, but there was a twist that kept it from being completely predictable. Overall, it was a satisfying conclusion to the series.

I like the plot and combination of romance and a mystery. The pacing of the book was a bit slow at first, but picked up later on. It was said that Sheridan was in love with Victoria all the time, but it didn't look like it. I liked Sheridan and Victoria, but thought they were thrown together too quickly. It would have been nicer if they got to know eachother some more.

In my opinion, Sabrina Jeffries is one of the most dependable historical romance writers who consistently puts out good books.

Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage, has vowed to never love again after losing those closest to him, and he keeps Vanessa Pryde directly in the "friend zone" which she desperately wants to break out of. Add in some mystery, romance, and a little bit of manipulation from both characters to see them achieve their happy ever after.

I enjoyed this story. I have liked Sheridan from the other books in this series I've read, and was happy to see him finally getting his HEA. I was excited to learn who dun it even if I guessed it midway through.

My only real complaint would be that I felt Vanessa and Sheridan's relationship took back seat to the mystery. I would have loved to have seen some intimate moments outside of the bedroom where they could learn more about each other after they married It also felt like he wasn't in love and then boom he was. Also, there were so many details about the murder mystery plot that sometimes it was hard to follow.

I wouldn't recommend reading this series out of order because there is a lot of information from previous books in these.

Undercover Duke (Duke Dynasty #4) by Sabrina Jeffries, a fav author to this reader is just downright entertaining and engaging. Although I have not read the others in this series, it appears that this book most definitely held my attention from start to finish.

The story is about the new Duke of Armitage, Sheridan Wolfe and Lady Vanessa Pryde. It seems that Sheridan is in dire straits with his estate and does not have any interest in Vanessa, although she has been carrying a torch for him since forever but opts to confess her affections for a playwright. Sheridan must marry for a generous dowry to save the estate and he wants to find the culprit that has been murdering his mother’s husbands. On the other hand, Vanessa’s mother is doing everything in her power to marry her off to anyone she deems acceptable even if they are of a senior age or have loads of gambling debts (haha).

Luck has it that both Sheridan and Vanessa meet and devise a plan to pretend to be a couple in order the make the playwright jealous, all the while Sheridan is needing Grey to get close to Vanessa’s mother to uncover information without her ever becoming suspicious. In the process of this courtship, there is mystery and intrigue as to who murdered Sheridan’s father and the father of his siblings. For Vanessa, she believes that this courtship will bring out the underlying feelings that she knows he has for her. There is that bit of angst between the H/h, but there is also heat and passion between them as well. I enjoy Sabrina Jeffries as a writer because I can always look forward to just the right amount of everything that is plotted. She puts in the perfect amount of humor, steamy intimacy and development of all her characters in her stories. Wishing that I’d had a chance to read the others in this series. Quite sure they were just as enjoyable.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Undercover Duke was filled with likeable, interesting characters and plenty of mystery and intrigue. Sheridan and Vanessa's relationship was a pleasure to watch unfold with plenty of sweetness and spice. I also loved the secondary characters, most of which were in previous books of this series, which I now plan to go and read ASAP! I look forward to reading more from this author.

A fitting end to a series, Sabrina Jeffries has again worked her magic with Undercover Duke. When the last unwed duke takes on the task of discovering what happened to his father and the fathers of his siblings, the final threads of a well-played story begin to tie themselves together. Throw in a love interest, the return of beloved characters from earlier books and you have an engaging read that leaves you guessing until the end.

The conclusion of this series of dukes finding love was satisfying. The overarching mystery of the dead former dukes was good too, somewhat predictable but w a bit of an unexpected twist. The jealousy angle was playera bit too long and at the expense of relationship building. There should have been more scenes of the main characters getting to know each other and more scenes of them together before the BIG ISSUE that came up. The relationship building was glossed over and rushed a smidge in favor of more jealousy than was needed. It became repetitive. But nevertheless the book was gripping and enjoyable and well written.

Sheridan is the last single duke in this series of brothers who are trying to determine who murdered their fathers. Sheridan is tasked with questioning Vanessa's mother as a potential suspect but she is difficult and rude, to say the least. He has tried to keep Vanessa in the dark and has let her believe he is courting her to make another man jealous, even though his family repeatedly tells him to include her. She ends up figuring out who and why, helping the family to find closure after so many years of questions. This is a great plot with wonderful characters and witty dialogue. Highly recommended.

The fourth and final book in the Duke Dynasty, was awesome. We saw a little bit of Vanessa's spunk in the last book. Sheridan really brings it out in her now. I loved his reaction when his preconceived ideas of her start crumbling. The ending wrapped up the mystery of the whole series very nicely.
