What a great read! This has it all, suspense, scandal, love triangle?, family secrets...everything to make this an entertaining read! Vanessa has been in love with Sheridan but he sees her as his half brother's little sister-right? Sheridan has loved and lost and he doesn't want to go down that route again but when Vanessa sets her sights on a ne'er do well poet he feels he needs to protect her but it that the only reason for his feelings? Great banter, fun chemistry and witty characters make this a fun read!

Being one of three Duke's in the same family has led Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage, and his step-siblings, to question if there was something suspicious in the death of their prospective fathers. Each brother is investigating and Sheridan is forced to look into the mother of Vanessa Pryde.

Sheridan is captivated as much as he is aggravated by Vanessa and her supposed infatuation with a playwright.

Vanessa's infatuation has always been with Sheridan but in trying to hide it, it was assumed to be someone else. She is overjoyed when Sheridan suddenly starts spending more time in her company but what will happen when his true reasoning is discovered?

This had plenty of promise but Sheridan denied his feelings for Vanessa for so long that I began to doubt that he had any for her. I think if he didn't protest what his feelings were for quite so long it would have been easier to believe his change of heart.

Vanessa was a great character but she deserved a bit more affirmation from Sheridan.

This final book of the series ties up all loose ends of the murder mystery that' we've waited 4 books to get to. The solution to the mystery doesn't take up much of the story. That's mostly about the relationship between Sheriden, Duke of Armitage and Vanessa Pryde, who readers will remember from the previous books. The relationship itself is OK, if not as exciting as those in the other books and the solution to the mystery seemed pretty obvious to me very early on. So I'd say this was an OK read if not a keeper.

Sabrina Jeffries has been my favourite author ever since I read her School for Heiresses series and Sinful suitors series. And for that reason, I am extremely glad to have got an ARC of Undercover Duke; lots of thanks to Netgalley and the author for this ARC.

This book is the last in a series of books about a Duchess, who has lost 3 husbands, all of them Dukes, and the lives of her children. There is mystery surrounding her husbands' deaths and all her children mingle to find out the truth of it,  which forms the background of the series.

This last book tells the story of the last Lord Sheridan, Duke of Armitage. He has some past baggage which holds him back from loving again and Lady Vanessa, Grey's cousin, who has always been interested in him, is always trying in many ways to make him take note of her. Their journey to love and marriage and the truth about all the Dukes' death, forms the story.

I had already read the other books in the series and the book will be more riveting,  if read in order. But because of the way the stories had been told, reading it out-of-order, is not likely to spoil the reading experience for this book. There is sufficient background information in each book and that should be enough to enjoy the story.

Lady Vanessa is, in many ways,  a person who knows exactly what she wants and how to go about getting it.  The moments when she tries her strategies are my most favourites. Though she is naive in some ways,  she is more intelligent and works- weary as well.

I particularly enjoyed how they realize their feelings for each other. The story was really engrossing and fast-paced too. My most favorite character of the whole series is the Dowager Duchess and Joshua. They were both terrific people to read about. I hope I get to read more series from Ms. Jeffries as she has a way with them.

Miss Vanessa Pryde has had her heart set on marrying Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage from the moment she first saw him. Unfortunately, he thinks she's a silly girl and doesn't want to marry Vanessa or any other woman for that matter, not after having his heart destroyed when he lost Helene. But Armitage and his siblings are determined to find out if their mother's husbands (yes plural, there were 3) were all murdered. This leads Sheridan straight to Vanessa, who's mother is one of the lead suspects in the murders. In order to get close to Lady Eustace, Sheridan decides to court Vanessa, but only as a favor to make another man jealous and not at all because he secretly pines for her. As Vanessa and Sheridan grow closer will he be able to give his heart away and find a murderer or will they both be in for heartbreak?

This book is such a fun, fast, and witty read. Sabrina Jeffries is such a fabulous writer and I want to devour every single book she has ever written!

Sheridan Wolfe, the Duke of Armitage, and his colorful array of half siblings are convinced the untimely deaths of their mother’s three husbands can only be explained by foul play and they’re determined to at last uncover the truth. Sheridan is tasked with questioning one of the most difficult ladies in the Ton, which brings him closer to her intriguing daughter, Vanessa Pryde. But since the death of his fiancé years ago, Sheridan has been determined to guard his heart from potential hurts and remain a bachelor. It’s of no consequence anyway as Vanessa is said to be wildly in love with a well-known, rakish playwright.

Even knowing how Sheridan despises schemes, Vanessa believes some may be necessary if she hopes to catch him. Her flirtation with the playwright is only meant to rouse Sheridan’s jealousy and cause him to truly notice her. As her scheme begins to work, perhaps a little too well, Sheridan and Vanessa find themselves involved in a fake courtship, all the while Sheridan attempts to conduct his quiet questioning, and their mutual attraction becomes impossible to ignore.

At last, the murders have been solved! I’ve loved the mystery aspect of these stories and would definitely recommend reading the series in order. I enjoyed this one, though I must say I figured out the villain frustratingly early and Vanessa’s scheming left me more annoyed than charmed. Vanessa had to grow on me a lot because I wanted her to stand up to her awful mother and work openly for what she wanted instead of the underhanded manipulation going on so long. Sheridan was relatably reticent, but I did want more from him. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but just more somehow. I’d hoped for more honest, openness from both Vanessa and Sheridan but it was so late in coming that the ending felt rushed and the love/relationship itself could’ve used more depth. I would’ve liked a bit more time for Sheridan and Vanessa to be together after they were finally honest with each other and the scheming was over, rather than having so much of the book devoted to said scheming, but we did get a very satisfying, Christmassy epilogue with all the previous main characters present. The conclusion was a bit quick to be the culmination of a storyline that has continued for so long, but it was still satisfying enough. I think I just wanted to see a bit more of the development of their love beyond the physical attraction. As an aside, their first time was also one of the most awkward, cringeworthy bedroom scenes I’ve ever read and some of the following scenes with Sheridan’s mother just made it weirder. Neither Sheridan nor Vanessa were my favorites, but they were still solid characters and I liked that it was Vanessa who helped him with his learning disability without this being the main focus of the book. Overall, this book didn’t wow me and I would’ve liked more romance, but it was enjoyable and I look forward to Juncker’s novella.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Before reading Undercover Duke, the fourth book in the Duke Dynasty series, I had only read a novella featuring some of the characters. While I enjoyed this as a standalone, I think I would have understood far more if I read the entire series. The book focuses on the romance between Sheridan Wolfe, the Duke of Armitage, and Vanessa Pryde. Sheridan’s mother has lost three husbands to mysterious circumstances; in order to find out if Vanessa’s mother is a suspect, he pretends to court Vanessa. Vanessa agrees to the pretense because she secretly pined for Sheridan, but pretended to love a playwright to make him jealous. Sheridan’s behavior toward Vanessa was maddening in the sense that he obviously liked her but swore to never love again because his fiance had died six years prior. Since I did not read previous books, I was not familiar with Vanessa’s parents’ contemptible behavior toward Sheridan’s brother, or many other details referred to by various characters.
Sheridan and Vanessa married about 60% through the book, a detail I enjoyed because it meant the entire story didn’t revolve around getting engaged. The rest of the story focused on their relationship after and solving the mystery. I was definitely entertained, but also confused, so I must recommend reading the entire series before delving into this one.

I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Undercover Duke is the fourth and last book in The Duke Dynasty series. I actually did not read the books in order and feel like this could be read standalone.

Sheridan Wolfe, the Duke of Armitage, has inherited a bankrupted dukedom. Passed from his father, the Dowager's third husband that died at the beginning of the Duke Dynasty Series in book 1 and jumpstarted the murder mystery. Sheridan finds himself drawn to Greycourt's cousin, Vanessa. However, he's nursing a broken heart from a dead fiance and keeps Vanessa at arm's length. For Vanessa, Sheridan is the one for her and she's eager to be seen as more than a cousin or sister type. So to hide her feelings from Grey and others, she jokingly suggests she's in love with the poet/playwright Mr. Juncker, Thornbridge's friend from the third book in the series. This part was really kind of funny and I loved how everyone kept mentioning she was in love with Juncker.

Sheridan offers to fake a courtship to help Vanessa make him jealous but secretly wants to show her that Juncker's a rake and not worthy of her. Both struggle to hide their ulterior motives- Sheridan with his mission to find his father's killer, which involves interrogating Vanessa's mother, and Vanessa's attempts to get close to Sheridan by lying about another man. Both are afraid to trust but eventually, they fall in love, patch up broken family traumas, and solve a murder.

The family dynamic between Grey, Thorn, Gwyn, and Sheridan really came together in this finale, and the mystery was wrapped up in a way that made sense and accounted for all of the time that had passed between each book. This book also felt very "classic Jeffries," so I feel like readers who have come to love her world-building will really love this book.

After everything Vanessa has gone through from book 1 to now, I love that she gets a happy ending. In the end, Jeffries doesn't waste too much time with misunderstandings and separation, eventually, everyone comes together to solve the mystery of the murder of Grey's, Thorn's, and Sheridan's perspective fathers. It's satisfying. It's also hard to believe the series is over, though it looks like we might get Juncker's book as a Christmas novella.

I enjoyed this book and felt that it was the best in the series. Sheridan and Vanessa's chemistry with each other kept me eagerly reading each page to see how their interactions would unfold. I was worried that the plot would get overly complicated but that was not the issue and you're able to get a very enjoyable story with some jealously thrown in if that is something that you liked. The few complaints that I have that trying to understand the dynamics of the hero and his family were confusing at times. It was constantly changing where one moment Sheridan was aloof and distant from his family and had always been and then in other moments they were depicted as being extremely close and has always been that way. This series was very similar to the Hellions of Halstead Hall, so much so that if you ha read that series, you could guess how this series would play out.

Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage and Vanessa Pryde are made for each other but both think the other is not interested in any romance. Then throw in the mystery of who killed the previous Dukes and thing just get out of hand. Nice conclusion to the series. I did know how did it long before any of the character's got a clue.

Not a great read. The story was mediocre, the characters were flat and uninteresting and had little to no on page chemistry.

The books preceding Undercover Duke were filled with drama and fun, i was so eager to get my hands on the next #DukeDynasty book that I particularly searched for this book on netgalley's shelf. I wasn't sure that my request would be approved but it was and i got to know how it ended. I wanted to see the culmination of the murder of previous dukes!

Although I liked the book well enough it was missing Jefferies's signature drama. Everyone was too nice, the hero was nice, the heroine was even nicer. The murderer turned out to be an unexpected fellow (Even saying that is kind of spoiler). And the ending seemed a bit rushed. I had hoped to see the killer brought to justice but what happened instead was a bit of a letdown.

On the bright side, we got to see Sheridan and Vanessa get together. It was absolutely fun watching Sheridan trying to absorb that it was him Vanessa fancied rather than Juncker. That was actually the bright spot of the entire book. Vanessa trying to elicit a reaction out of Sheridan. Oh, and we also meet the female lead for our next book in the series.

I have no clue what went wrong with Juncker and the lady, I hope it isn't a tiny misunderstanding that could have been cleared up but a valid reason that tore them apart. Either way it's going to be fun finding out.

This is the final book in the Duke Dynasty series, which means Sheridan, the Duke of Armitage, and his family are close to finding out who has been murdering their mother’s husbands. Sheridan’s job is to question Vanessa’s mother. To do so puts him in proximity to Vanessa and he agrees to help make the man she likes jealous. What Sheridan doesn’t realize is he is the man Vanessa wants!

I have read all of the books in this series, so I was HIGHLY invested in the family solving this murder! It would have been really easy for the romance to get lost in the mystery, but Jeffries balances the two perfectly. Sheridan is the uptight hero we love to see brought to his knees by an outspoken woman - cue Vanessa. He spends much of the book in denial about his feelings, so of course danger must ensue for him to realize how he feels! I would recommend this book to people who love a bit of mystery with their historical romance. I also suggest reading the entire series to fully understand the mystery.

Undercover Duke is the fourth book in the Duke Dynasty series, that follows the HEAs of the grown children of the thrice-married dowager duchess of Armitage, as well as the mystery of who murdered her husbands. This tells the story of Sheridan, the current Duke of Armitage, and Vanessa, cousin to one of his half brothers. Sheridan is tasked by the family with finding out information from Vanessa’s mother about the house party where the first husband died. Vanessa has been quietly pursuing Sheridan since they met, but he isn’t interested in her until he thinks she needs him to make a different man jealous, and realizes her suggestion of a fake courtship will work for his plans as well. Until a kiss in the park means they must marry right away. However, the more time they spend together, the more they realize they might just have a real chance at love, but can they also solve the mystery so the entire family can be at peace?

I would rate this 3.5 stars overall. I thought it wrapped up the series well, and while Sheridan wasn’t my favorite of the siblings, Vanessa is the perfect partner for him, and their story was believable. The long plot that covers the murder mystery was wrapped up and explained well. It was an entertaining book.

Undercover Duke wraps up the murder mystery that has underpinned the Duke Dynasty series, and does so in a fairly satisfying way. I enjoyed Vanessa and Sheridan as characters, though I found them more convincing as friends than as a couple, and I was really not impressed by Sheridan's tendency to keep really quite important secrets from Vanessa right up until after they were married.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Jeffries always keeps me turning pages, and I enjoyed the humour and the sexiness which is her hallmark. Not a perfect book, but a good comfort read.

What a Enjoyable story! Forth in the Duke Dynasty series brings the characters who found a place in your heart are back. Undercover Duke will hold you captivated from the moment you begin the journey until the very end. As the family gets closer to solving the mystery of the deaths of their mother's three husbands Sheridan finds himself concocting a sceme of of a pretend engagement while trying to get information from his "fiancee" parent. Vanessa agrees to Sheridan's scheme but little does he realize Vanessa is plotting also. Sabrina Jeffries has written a story that has sizzling passion, with a great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, it is smoothly written, dealing with unnerving situations, with a superb plott that is filled with tension-building twist and turns and setbacks that will keep you entralled from the beginning to the end in this outstanding story!

I enjoyed Vanessa and Sheridan’s story. I think I may have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books in the series. It certainly does stand alone and you don’t need to read the previous books, but taking a peek at his brothers made me want to download the previous book and learn more.

It has been a while since I have picked up a book by Ms. Jeffries and this story has certainly given me the itch to download more.

Vanessa and Sheridans story was entertaining. They had some really good moments and I enjoyed their banter. Their chemistry was on point. It had enough steam to keep me grinning like a fool. I was a little confused with the whole murder-mystery, but in the end it turned out ok. Vanessa’s mother was driving me crazy. Such a selfish woman.

I enjoyed this book and will be looking out for the previous in the series.

Vanessa and Sheridan are a great couple in this mystery come romantic comedy.
This smart sexy historical romance smolders with sexual chemistry with a dash of dangerous wit.
Sabrina Jeffries has done it again with this fourth book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I was worried since it had been a while since I read the previous books in this series, but fear not, it was not a problem! I enjoyed Sheridan and Vanessa’s story and the culmination of the series. Although I certainly look forward to more from Sabrina Jeffries!!! This wrapped up the series nicely… You could read and enjoy this book without having read the others, but why cheat yourself! Read them all!!
