A love story essentially but not really enjoyable in terms of the character of Max is awful. I just did not click with him and it put me off. I didn’t find the whole thing plausible.
A Shame.
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to read this as I had issues with my kindle, however I don't want to give it bad feedback as it's no fault with the book.
A romance with a tortured main character. Sign me up! This was a sweet, cute read and would recommend!
This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future!
Because of problems with my computer and e-reader my I didn't read the book and my copy has expired.
Sarah is an extremely shy bookshop owner who is much more comfortable in the pages of her book and spending time with a very few select friends. Maxime is an actor, a bad boy and forever trying to escape his previous life. However Maxime’s anger and penchant for fighting lands him a two month community service sentence living and working at Sarah’s bookshop. There is no way he can get out of it and is determined to get through it as easily as possible however he did not count on Sarah slowly becoming an important part of her life and making him see that there are people around him that love him and want to help him with no expectations other than wanting the best for him.
Although there are no real surprises in the story of bad boy turned good with the help of a shy good girl there was something that kept me turning the page and wanting to know what happens next. The story flowed and I really enjoyed the book from start to finish.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, this book wasn’t working for me and I really couldn't get into the story or the romance. I’m sure others will enjoy it
A great book from Emily Blaine. I’ve never read a book by this author before and I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. The characters were well thought out and the story was well paced.
Such a sweet and atmospheric read! I loved getting to know the characters, their dreams and how the bookshop impacted the whole community.
The Bookshop of Forgotten Dreams by Emily Blaine was a charming and adorable sunshine and grumpy romance.
The book follows Sarah, a shy bookworm who's barely ever left her little village, and Max, a bad boy actor with the world at his feet. When Max comes to town to film a movie, he and Sarah are thrust together and a sweet and unlikely romance blossoms.
One of the things I loved about this book was the cute and charming romance between Sarah and Max. Their chemistry was palpable and the dialogue between them was witty and entertaining. The author did a great job of building their relationship and showing the progression of their feelings for each other.
In addition to the romance, the book also had a charming and cosy atmosphere, thanks to the bookshop setting, as well as some heartwarming moments that pulled at my heartstrings.
However, there were some problems with pacing and some overall issues that felt were missed during editing.
I did not get around to reading this book prior to it’s publication date and it has since been archived therefore I cannot leave a review at this time.
I requested to read an ARC of The Bookshop of Forgotten Dreams because of the title and lovely cover. Who doesn’t love a love romance that has the backdrop of a bookshop! Sadly for me, that premise and the pretty cover is all I really liked about this story.
Our MCs are Sarah, a shy, socially awkward book lover who owns a second hand bookshop, and Max, a bad-boy actor with anger management issues who has to complete community service in Sarah’s bookshop. This was a huge flaw for me. Max was presented as an angry, impulsive, violent, young man that held no regard for women. He has not one likable or redeeming quality as far as I’m concerned. And
poor Sarah, was no one even a bit worried about how terribly wrong things could have gone for her in this situation? Whatever did she do to deserve having to deal with this jerk. In the end it all played out but sheesh!
One of the things I love about stories that take place in libraries or bookshops is the mention of different authors and their works but there was very little of that which made me feel duped, as though the author only used the bookshop backdrop to lure me in. Overall it wasn’t the sweet romance I’d hoped for. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I liked the enemies to lovers side of this. But the translation from the original French version was clunky, and I don't think well developed. A jumpy plot and not clearly identified dual narratives made it a difficult read for me.
I enjoyed this book. The story was good. The characters were interesting and well developed. I think my favorite part was the setting. I loved what went on in the small town.
A complete delight! A recommended purchase for collections where contemporary romance and lighter women's fic is popular.
The sweetest and cutest book I’ve read so far!
Everyone needs to read it and appreciate it as much as I do
I loved this book!. I didn't want to leave Maxime and Sarah's world and the bookshop behind.
Their blossoming relationship makes this a compelling read and the cast of supporting characters are just lovely.
This book gave me the all important warm, happy feeling and had me grinning ear to ear!
This was a brilliant read and is being featured on my blog for my quick star reviews feature, which I have created on my blog so I can catch up with all the books I have read and therefore review.

I loved this book. The Plot, the characters are all so so so good. I plan on reading more by this author. Funny, witty, clever so enjoyable.
Overall, this was a fun read. The relationship between the two main characters is definitely more of an enemies to lovers trope, which I love, but I did find myself wondering if they were ever going to really hit it off. There were a few issues with the translation to French from English, but nothing major.
