Greenwich Park is a twisty, exciting thriller from debut novelist Katherine Faulkner. The plot is told from three points of view, our main character Helen who at the beginning is 24 weeks pregnant, her sister-in-law Serena who is also pregnant, and her brother’s girlfriend and journalist Katie. The three have very intriguing, intertwined stories that lead to a slow-burn thriller.Excellent read!
Wow! In her debut, Katherine Faulkner delivers a page-turning novel that draws in the reader and never lets go. The varying points of view along with a truly gripping mystery (or two) make this a suspenseful tale that you won't want to put down. I stayed up way too late to finish and, hours later, still find myself thinking about the story of Helen, Rachel, Daniel, Rory, Serena, and Katie, and how everything was tied together in the end. We'll done!! A true five-star read!
A slow building thriller that tells the story of an affluent group of friends. It’s a tale of youthful transgressions and the choices that are made. It is also a tale of accountability and leaves the reader to ponder just how far you’d go to hide your mistakes… or is it better to own your decisions. Thanks to NetGalley for the early read at this little rabbit hole of twists and turns!
Helen the main character is married to Daniel and are expecting a baby after several miscarriages. . Helens brother Rory and his wife Serena are also expecting and we’re all planning to attend birthing classes together. This group of characters are so close by being family and friends, or are they? The nightmare begins when Helen ends up attending the classes by herself and meets Rachel who is single and expecting. .
There are so many twist in this psychologically addictive mystery. This book is a page turner you can’t put down and I highly recommend this entertaining read.
The beautiful cover of this book is what drew me in! I love the cover. The writing, however, was only okay, in my opinion. The storyline was interesting enough to keep reading but it was slow moving. The book really seemed to drag on. I’m not usually good at figuring out mysteries but I had this book figured out pretty early on. I did enjoy the 3 person point of view the story was told in. The book turned out alright and was decent for a debut novel but it definitely could have been 100 pages shorter.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery books for an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
Hard to believe that this is only Katherine Faulkner's debut novel. The alternating point-of-view provides an incredible additional dimension to the timeline of events. Faulkner's style of writing is deliciously descriptive and allows you to really become lost in the narrative.
Overall, it is a well written slow burn that keeps you invested as discoveries are made and everything unfolds. The characters are the driving force, and the presentation of them allows the story to be dynamic and enthralling.
Wonderful book that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Just when I thought I had it all figured out I would find myself back to square one, but in the best way possible. It was an excellent suspenseful thriller that also cover a lot of important and relevant topics. The ending was absolutely brilliant.
This book was excellent! A great book of mystery, it was very well written. The beginning was a little bit slow but once things started happening, I was quickly pulled in. The story follows Helen, her husband, her best friend, her two brothers and one of their wives. Helen gets a new friend named Rachel. The story is told from all the women’s perspectives. I spent the entire time trying to figure out the twists but they just kept coming! Great read!
Huge amount of thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I see that people are calling this one a "slow burn," but, in this case, I think that's just because things take forever to get going - to the extent that I didn't feel particularly invested until the final chapters. Also, the primary narrator is a bit of a dip, so.
Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner is a slow burner with characters I could not really relate to. The plot was well thought out though, but the first half of the book was too drawn out for me. The ending was good and I look forward to reading the author's future work. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
I hate to say this, but I could not get into this book. I tried to finish it twice and had to put it down. I didn't feel that the couple had much of a connection and I could see that the new "friend" was a fake from the start. I'm going to chalk it up to not being in the mood because this is normally the type of book that I enjoy.
Huge amount of thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Helen is finally pregnant with her much wanted baby. She has a beautiful home and an ideal husband. Life is good. Until she meets Rachel at a prenatal class. Rachel isn’t like Helen’s other friends and peers. Rachel is loud, Rachel is eccentric, and Rachel doesn’t fit in. Rachel also has a secret and an agenda.
This was an excellent psychological thriller! While I couldn’t relate with some of the characters, they were believable. The plot was perfect, grabbing my attention quickly and made me reluctant to put it down. The ending was perfect. I love a good, satisfying ending. Really enjoyed this book and hope to see more from Katherine Faulkner in the future. Publication date is January 4, 2022, so plenty of time for this to go on your want to read list!
4.5 stars! I'm not sure when Greenwich Park appeared on my radar, but I was super happy to receive an advance copy from NetGalley. What a terrific read! I loved how we see situations from multiple characters, and although we are given a few hints, it wasn't until the very end I knew who and what...and still, the ending, the very last page, the very last sentence, is a humdinger!! I read this in one day. Telling the story of four college friends, two of whom are brother and sister, with a third sibling on the periphery, Faulkner weaves a complicated and multi-layered story surrounding an incident during their college years that comes back to haunt them. SOOOO well done, highly recommend.
I grew uninterested in the story, sorry! I liked the writing style but I felt like I could see where it was going, and was bored.
4+ What a debut novel! This book will keep you turning the pages to learn what is happening in this story. The book is told from three points of view......Helen, Serena and Katie. All three women linked to each other by family. Katie is a journalist who dates (on and off) Helen's brother, Charlie. Serena is a photographer who is married to Helen's other brother, Rory.
Helen is finally pregnant after years of loss. She and her architect husband, Daniel, have inherited her parents gorgeous home in Greenwich Park. When Helen attends a prenatal class, she meets Rachel. Rachel is a single mother-to-be who immediately takes to Helen and reappears in her life repeatedly almost forcing a friendship. Helen is unsure of Rachel at first but eventually invites Rachel into her life. But who is Rachel? Is a friendship with Helen what she really wants?
This book will take you through the final months of Helen's long awaited pregnancy. There are so many questions that you have to get the answers to. This debut novel will not disappoint! I am looking forward to more books from Katherine Faulkner. Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the advanced copy of this book.
Complex suspense that will keep you reading into the night! Tapestry of deceit, secrets, infidelity and revenge circling a rather naive and spoiled heroine. Her cluelessness definitely makes the story stronger!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. You can purchase your copy here on January 4, 2022: https://www.amazon.com/Greenwich-Park-Katherine-Faulkner-ebook/dp/B08VJLZ3CP/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1626087123&sr=8-1
I feel like this book should come with a warning like roller coasters, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. May not want to consume this book if you are pregnant, easily disturbed, etc. Every page seemed like an OMG. We begin this book with Helen going to the Dr and getting a sonogram after clearly losing other(s) in London. Everything seems normal until they start to take a prenatal course.
We meet some interesting characters. Helen meets a mum to be at her prenatal class named Rachel. She smokes, drinks and seems to draw Helen into friendship.
We begin this book with a letter to Helen by someone who was convicted of something, something that quietly unfolds. We are then taken to 24 weeks of Helen's pregnancy at her prenatal class alone. Her brother, Roy and his pregnant wife, Serena were supposed to attend. This woman comes in late, interrupts the class and then subsequently offers Helen ice cold white wine. Mind you, we are in the middle of a PRENATAL class and this woman is handing another PREGNANT woman a GLASS OF WINE on a hot day- let’s further dehydrate a woman who is already dehydrated while pregnant. On the other hand, you could just think this woman as reckless and well carefree.
This was just the beginning of the antics. We are then taken on a wild ride as the reason for the opening letter. This is unlike my typical “light and fluffy” books that I normally like and typically enjoy. This book had me on the edge of my seat, looking off onto the beach quizzically as I had no idea what was happening and why things kept happening. This was a perfect unraveling of a plot. I NEVER saw this coming. NEVER even fathomed this! THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD BOOK!
What a great debut book! This book had me hooked from page 1! And it definitely kept me guessing until the last page! It was a fast and fun read. Helen and Rachel were interesting characters and I appreciated how the author developed their characters throughout the book. The book gives great insight into those friendship dynamics as well as their relationships with others in their circles. There are a lot of characters which I normally don't like, but the author made them all interesting and memorable and really brought the whole story together. A frothy read that I recommend!
Loved every page. Great writing style. Recommend for a book club for women of all ages and races. Thanks for the opportunity to read this.
It took me a few chapters to get into this book. Helen, the main character, was a bit unlikeable as she was too naive and also flighty. She was truly a kind person, so that was a selling point that had you rooting for umber. In the end, you could see where some of the aspects were headed but it was quite a page turned until the very end. The author did a great job of tying up all the loose ends.
