Hot, contemporary romance in an elementary school setting. Gilly loves teaching first grade. She wants everything to be colorful and memorable and doesn't mind paying for extras herself. She has kept secret her inherited family money preferring to be known for her work and skills as a teacher. Christopher is the new first grade teacher and has hang ups about money because of a family situation. He doesn't think frills are necessary to be a good teacher.

Being an elementary school librarian, and the fact I subbed today in first grade, I appreciate the authors reflecting the extra effort good teachers put into their jobs. A lot of the school things are spot on, especially funny comments from young students. The books has twists and turns including a blackmail plot that I didn't love. It adds to the drama between the love interests but the actions didn't feel realistic. Also, a forgery would have been the banks or who ever cashed the checks responsibility to replace the funds not the person stolen from, so that plot point didn't work for me.

But all in all this was a fun, steamy, read. I love the setting and especially enjoyed the date that included a trip to a library. This is second in a series but easily read as a stand alone. Having never read a Jaqueline Snowe book, I wasn't sure what to expect. "Teaching with the Enemy" is book 2 in Snowe's "Shut Up and Kiss Me" series, and it was so enjoyable! The enemies to lovers trope is one of my favorites, and this book delivers. Sparks fly between Gilly and Christopher even while they hate each other, and eventually they stop fighting their feelings for each other. The fact that they're both teachers who really love their students was intriguing to me as well, as a former teacher.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of Snowe's work. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I loved this book, definitely recommend.

Gilly is an heiress, but her passion is teaching, he doesn’t want to be treated differently because of it, so she hides it. Christopher is a bit jaded after an award goes missing after a one night stand with Gilly. They're teaching styles differ, but they both want what's best for their students. They have to make it work.

Brilliant enemies-to-lovers book.

I spent 90% of this book pissed at Christopher for being an jerk to Gilly for no reason. The other 10% wishing he was real. This book has blackmail, family, secrets, all of it. It's sexy and heartwarming. Overall a great read.

Only thing, I could not figure out how to pronounce Gilly. I kept switching between saying it with a hard "g" and "jilly", probably my fault, I'm sure i just missed her full name that would have told me how to pronounce it.
