This was so annoying? It starts with a Stupid drama at the airport, a forgotten passport, a furious ex coworker, who is told by his wife to help the poor dear... Get the idea? It went downhill from there, Topics included infidelity doubts, can men and women be friends wi or without sex, jealousy, such a waste of time, did not finish. one star.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader in exchange for an honest opinion.
A small destination wedding where everyone is keeping a life changing secret……what could possible go wrong? This was a fast paced read with well developed, mostly likable characters. The author introduces one twist after another, right up until the very end. Great read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Sandie Jones, Minotaur Books & St. Martin’s Publishing Group for the ARC!

When Rachel travels to Portugal for her brother in law’s wedding, she has no idea her life will be forever changed. Three couples lives intertwine in numerous ways, and shocking secrets are revealed, ultimately resulting in a tragic accident. Or, was it done on purpose? 💭 Thoughts 💭
This book focused a lot on the dynamics between the characters and was very psychologically twisty. Rachel was a very unsure narrator who was easily swayed by new information. I enjoyed the twists and how all of the characters weren’t exactly who they seemed to be. However, parts were repetitive throughout and the ending left a lot to be desired. It was too vague and left me confused and questioning what exactly happened and who was at fault was unclear.

The descriptions of Portugal sounded amazing! From the beautiful ocean side house with an infinity pool and rooftop jacuzzi they stayed in, to the wedding location on the side of a cliff, every view sounded breathtaking!

Man oh man, did I love this book! It kept me guessing until the end.
Summary:
2 married couples (Rachel, Jack, Noah and Paige) are all in Portugal for a destination wedding. All four of them have been good friends over the years until secrets are revealed during their stay at a private villa during the weekend festivities for Ali and Will's nuptials. Little do each of them know that all of their secrets are going to change the course of their lives and those around them forever.
Review:
Full of mystery, betrayal, secrets upon secrets, and lies upon lies that no one seems to be telling the truth. This story grips you from the moment it begins. It leads you to believe that you know who is the real protagonist. However, as you delve deeper into the story you start to change your mind and question if you were you wrong in your first assumptions. By the time I finished reading my head was spinning because of the twist and turns in the story. Just when you think it was going in one direction it went a different way than expected. My jaw dropped when I realized who really was the protaganist.
Well written novel that keeps you guessing all the way to the end.
I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked until the very end. I didn't find it predictable like most normal thrillers.
Domestic drama that keeps your attention until the end. I will be reading other titles from this author.
What a tangled web of secrets and lies!
I had a hard time trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
I had a hard figuring where the heck this story was going.
As more and more secrets come to light….the intrigue just intensifies.
A intense domestic thriller that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.
This was my first book written by Sandie Jones and I hope to read many more.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is one of those books that has some high points, but there are so many twists, unlikable characters and people lying that I was often wondering what else could happen. There were times I got into the story, especially at the beginning, but then things got strange. There are two married couples Rachel and Jack and Paige and Noah, who have been invited to a wedding in Portugal. They are great friends, with Rachel and Noah having become BFFs at university. Will, is Jack's brother and he is marrying Ali. Ali is not a favourite of this group and they consider her a flake. She used to work for Jack, but has moved to another position. They all want Will to be happy and Ali seems to be the one that does make him happy, so they accept it. She is also gorgeous and she knows it and flaunts it. The other women seem jealous and don't treat her all that well. After arriving in their villa in Portugal though Rachel begins to discover secrets that have her questioning not only Ali but her husband, Jack, as well. The story is full of secrets and unreliable narrators. I wasn't quite sure who was telling the truth, who was sleeping with who and whether this wedding would even happen. I kept hoping this book would get better and I did read it all, but the ending????? Huge twist and somewhat unbelievable. I don't know what else to say about this story. It definitely blindsided me and had me shaking my head. If you enjoy unreliable narrators, unlikable characters and books with a huge twist, then this one is for you.
This one fell a bit flat for me. It's a thrilling story but I found myself wanting more at the end. I've always enjoyed the friends-turned-enemies story, but this one just didn't seem to click for me.
This one was hard for me to finish and I think it was because it was just so similar to a lot of books that I've read recently. It follows a group of friends/couples on a destination wedding weekend. And out of those three couples pasts come secrets and lies that end up causing drama. I wouldn't call it a thriller so much as a domestic drama. For me it was too slow paced and just wasn't a hit.
Ok so this was a pretty mundane drama for me but It definitely grabbed my attention because it’s pretty crazy how everyone has something to hide.
I’m not going to spoil this book for you but let me say that this was like talking to friends and just talking bad about each other and knowing that something doesn’t seem right, they still let it happen. I mean what kind of friends are these people? It’s also funny how that they think they have the right to judge someone when they are also in a predicament that they know it’s wrong.
The way these couple think of themselves is far from the truth and it’s intriguing how so much is unraveling on their secrets before the wedding. Who’s to say that there is a villain in the story. Not an actual villain if you know what I mean.
This is more of a slow pace buildup in my opinion. It was a good novel but it wasn’t something exciting when it got to the point. This is a 3 out of 5 stars. I had both formats of this book, e-book and audiobook so in my opinion it would be good either one to pick up.
I am so sorry but I wasn't able to get through this book. Usually I give a book at least 100 pages before deciding. I did that with this one and found I wasn't engaged enough in the characters to continue. It's unfortunate because I usually love Sandie Jones. Maybe next time.
This is a domestic thriller. More of a who slept with whom. Kind of thriller. This was a page turner and very predictable to me.
6 people, 3 couples and
several twist but without much character development I didn't care for these characters. The plotting and pacing was good and it kept me flipping the pages.
I really tried to like this one - it sounded perfect. It was honestly too chatty for me - and very repetitive. I think people that like books like "You" where a lot of it happens in someone's head will really enjoy this one! I ended up DNFing this after about 30%.
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC And wanting my honest opinion!
Three couples travel to a destination wedding for the weekend in Portugal, a stunning villa high on the cliffs with the sounds of roaring waves crashing on the rocks below. What could go wrong? Everything!
My gosh! There is so much drama in this story that I felt I was transported back to high school. Needless to say, this story is not my usual fan fair but I found myself unable to put it aside, and I was thinking of all sorts of scenarios on how this would end. The author weaved bread crumbs throughout the story, and then there would be a twist to throw you off, just to lead you back to the same conclusion. The story went in all sorts of directions to the very end. Did I figure it out before the ending? Yes, I did with a couple details I didn’t see coming.
The Quilt Trip emphasizes just how much stupid and destructive things people do and say under the influence of alcohol and for just down right selfish and petty reasons. Furthermore, how secrets and lies are a tender box waiting to ignite at any moment when least expected.
The build up to this story was great, however, I found some minor errors in details to be an unbelievable and the ending did not measure up. For example, without going into too much detail, the tragedy at the wedding scene was overly complicated and did not work for me.
As far as the characters go, the person I felt most empathy for was Jack’s brother Will. Despite his role being in the background a bit, I enjoyed his personality and free spirit. He is the nomad type, a wanderer. A person who would happily sleep under the stars without worry. With this crowd and his brother, its no wonder! Rachel, Jack, Paige, Noah and Ali were extremely unlikable characters and their dysfunction drove me nuts. I dare say, that is the point of the story, I’m sure.
Despite my misgivings, I enjoyed the story enough to keep reading and I’m confident that many readers will enjoy the book. -Stephanie Hopkins
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis of this book sounded intriguing to me so I requested a copy to read.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during this 2nd attempt, I have
decided to stop reading this book
and state that this book just wasn't for me.
I wish the author, publisher and all those promoting the book much success and connections with the right readers.
I was a little skeptical going into this book because I am not a fan when a group of people who have been friends for years go on a trip and secrets will be revealed. But I am a fan isolated mysteries so I was going to give this one chance and I am glad I did! In this one we are following Rachel and Noah we have been friends for 20+ years and they go to wedding with their spouses. The groom is Rachel's brother-in-law and she thinks that his fience and her husband were having an affair, soon things are revealed and the three couples will never be the same again. I liked all 3 couples and even though I knew things were going to get bad I was still rooting for all of them! Highly recommend this one! Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur and Macmillon for my gifted copies for review.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. Thank you to the author, the Publisher and to Netgalley.
I give this book 3 stars...I found the beginning of the book a bit confusing because I didn't know the characters well enough to understand what was going on... I considered not finishing the book because I had a difficult time connecting with the book...I continued because I had received it from Netgalley...the book got better, with stronger character development. as I got to know the characters I started to connect with a few of them and actually started to enjoy the book...
This is my first but won't be my last Sandie Jones book! I found the characters to be well developed and believable. The plot is well laid out and I felt like I was with the characters experiencing all the twists and turns right by their side.
The story kept me engaged and wanting to know more. I listened to this for a day and a half because I couldn't get enough of it. I loved all of the twists and turns and was surprised by the ending. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good mystery with lots of drama!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced listening copy.
Was a tense story. Lots of characters and drama going on. The ending was a complete surprise after a dramatic turn of events and a tumultuous wedding and reception! I did enjoy this book and will look to read more from this author.
