"Never Fall for Your Fiancée," by Virginia Health is a historical rom-comedy. There were times where I chuckled at the very ridiculousness of the plot and characters. It at times was tedious to read but overall thoroughly enjoyable.

Coming into this novel I knew that it held two of my favorite things in Romance novels 1. Historical setting and 2. Enemy to lovers. The story follows the Meriwell sisters who have been abandoned by their father after losing their mother years before the beginning of the novel. The sisters are now grown and needing financial assistance for Minerva works as a woodcut engraver but is not enough to supply her financial needs as their father left them with debt. By chance Minerva meets a young man who turns out is an Earl and proposes she pass as his fiancée while his mother visits him. In return Minerva will be financially compensated. Do they develop an attraction for each other ? Does miscommunication, banter, and stunning scenes ensue? You need to check it out for your self. I recommend this for those who enjoy lighthearted romantic stories with relatable characters. It was a relaxing read for me as I followed along with the audiobook. I give this book a strong 3.5 stars out of 5. On goodreads I gave the book 3 stars.

I love a good historical romance and Virginia Heath's "Never Fall for Your Fiancee" sat on my shelf far too long before being read! I loved the authentic characters, her ability to make me laugh while swooning at the same time, and the way the plot moved along so flawlessly.

I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

This was a cute historical romance. I thought the pacing was pretty quick and easy to read. I enjoyed the banter between High and Minerva, as well as that of the sisters and Giles. Hughs mom was definitely a character and I enjoyed it.

I had heard good things about Never Fall for Your Fiancée online and was in the mood for a lighthearted read. It fit that bill perfectly. Based on the time period it is appropriately steamy but overall very tame. It followed a fairly typical enemies to lovers framework but was very well done. I laughed out loud at parts, smiled like an idiot, and felt sadness and heartache right alongside the characters. Worth the read and I've already recommended it to friends!

4.5 stars rounded up.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read the book early. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Very cute and easy read. If you’re into the whole bridgerton reads this a good pick! It checks off all the tropes… fake dating, the miscommunication between the female and male. I didn’t like how things were coming up over and over again through out the plot. That was tiresome.

VIRGINIA HEATH you bloody gorgeous genius! This book was the best start of a series. It has everything a good romance fan wants: fake dating, relationship between two people from different classes, snark, banter, drunk actresses playing the role of mother. I cannot wait until book two comes out!

This was a fun book! It was a tad predictable but I still really enjoyed the story and the romance, it wasn’t my favorite but I will be picking up more from the author.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Virginia Heath for providing me with an eARC of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review, all opinions are my own.

I did enjoy the storyline in this book, I'm always a fan of the fake engagement trope, but this one seemed to fall a little flat for me. I couldn't connect with the characters, I kept hoping they'd grow on me over the course of the book, but I just didn't have any cares about what happened to the characters in the end.

This is a great book for fans of Bridgerton and similar books, unfortunately it didn't quite hold up to my expectations.

This was a fresh, funny and sexy dual perspective, fake dating Regency romance and I was there for it! Great on audio with two narrators for each of the MCs, this story had well developed characters, great historical detail and a lot of heart, plus a slow build sexual tension that got a great climax. Highly recommended for fans of the Bridgertons or Martha Waters. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy. I can't wait for the next book in this new series!

A charming fake dating historical romance about a heroic wealthy rake falling for the poor fatherless proper lady. Throw in three headstrong sisters, a demanding but kind mother, and an overzealous actress pretending to be Minerva’s mother and you’ve got “Never Fall for Your Fiancee.“ This is a sweet and adventerous tale of falling in love while faking an engagement. A flirty and adorably written book with equally adorable characters!

Hugh comes to the rescue and saves Minerva from being swindled from her employer. So when Hugh finds out Minerva has the same name as his made up fake fiancée he feels like it’s fate. Hugh devises a plan to pay Minerva to be his fake fiancée, convincing his mother that he really is in love and happily settled. The only problem is that the fake relationship is starting to feel not so fake.

This has all the makings of a perfect historical romance with a slow-burn climax that includes one short steamy scene. My favorite parts were the underlying integrity of the characters and the massive pining between Hugh and Minerva. Overall, an amusing read with a soap opera like feel.

I had the great fortune to receive an advance copy of Never Fall for Your Fiancee. I am a big fan of Georgette Heyer and Julia Quin among others. I found this a delightful book. The premise reminded me of a Heyer and comedic bits are pure joy! I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Get ready for all the emotions: joy, anger, frustration, sadness, heartbreak, lust and pure love!!!! Hugh and his mother have such a wonderful relationship and they tease each other in funny ways that family does. Those closest always know how to push your buttons. But this book is about the united Merriwell sisters. The three girls who lost their mother young and had a never do well for a father. Their father abandoned them as soon as Minerva was of age and could shoulder the responsibility of the younger two, Diana and Venus. Resentful of her father, Diana has a lot of anger and speaks her mind while Vee was too young to understand how awful their father was. Vee spends her days wishing for his return.

Quite by chance Hugh and Minerva meet and what fortuitous timing! Hugh had created a fake finacee named Minerva that his mother was coming to meet and here was a Minerva in need of funds. What could go wrong!!! Oh so much!!!!

A bit over the top youth that faced crazy self-created disasters as a team, sort of. It was amusing if at times a bit cheesy, but i found it rather endearing. And a happy ever after certainly makes it all worth it in the end. #netgalley #neverfallforyourfiance

While this was a generally fun read, I honestly didn't like the main characters, and didn't buy their eventual romance. It was cringeworthy even at the best of times.

I also felt like, with this book, that even though the summary is technically accurate plot-wise, it didn't provide me a genuine feel of what I was going to encounter during my read. I had hopes that were not accomplished. It wasn't a blow-you-out-of-the-water, exceeds-your-expectations kind of read. So that was a bummer for me. (Maybe that's just a "me" thing?)

Overall, I'm still glad I read this, but I hope it can find it's real audience; unfortunately, it wasn't me.

A big thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for e-book in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

This is a super far fetched story about an earl who has been lying to his mom about his love life and has to quickly come up with a cover for his web of lies. He finds a lady in some financial distress and agrees to pay her to pretend to be his fiancee. It's a nice, light historical romance that centers around the fake dating trope. It's pretty well written, although the action does drag in places. The side characters like the main lady's sisters and the friend of the earl, as well as the fake mother of the fake fiancee, are really well drawn and funny.
While it wasn't the most action packed or original story, it was enjoyable and I would definitely read the other books forthcoming in the series!

Never Fall for Your Fiancee was such a cute historical romance, and I NEVER like historical romances, but I felt like this one was super modernized. Both of the main characters had such hilarious senses of humor which usually doesn’t translate in historical fiction but for this book it did.

The negative to this book was I felt like it dragged on for way too long. I think this story could have been cut way short without taking away from the plot.

I don’t think this will make me read any more historical romance, but this one was a sweet story with some hilarious plot.

This book was just adorable. The plot is absolutely absurd, but everyone’s aware of the ridiculousness. There’s a delightful amount of witty banter and I really loved Minerva. I did spend a lot of the time wanting to lock Minerva and Hugh in a room together to make them actually talk… The familial discord and shenanigans worked really well, broadening the story nicely.

Never Fall for Your Fiancé. I admit it I read this book in one sitting. It was such a fun, easy read that swept me away. I’m usually more of a contemporary romance fan, but I’m glad I gave this one a try!

Never Fall For your Fiance
By Virginia Heath

Oh there is nothing I love more than a first book in a series and this amazing new historical rom com was all I needed. Between a handsome earl to a fake fiance this hilarious romp was so fun to read that had me giggling and swooning at all ours through the night. This was so enjoyable and you will love all the missteps that will lead to anything but a fake relationship between Hugh and Minerva.

RomCom readers and Historical Fiction lovers will find this read delectable and simply irresistible.

I LOVED IT
