This series is quickly becoming my seven. year old's favorite. We read these together before bed and he is completely enraptured by the stories! In this installment, Ollie and Kiki travel to the rainforest of Borneo, make friends with an orangutan, and go up against a palm oil plantation. I love how King weaves science into the story!

I received an electronic ARC from DK through NetGalley.
The Explorers are back and it's Ollie and Kiki's turn to go on a mission. They are sent to Borneo in the heart of the rainforest. After a tour of the animal preserve, they figure out their mission to find the baby orangutan. As they search for the missing orangutan, they also stumble on a palm plantation that plans to destroy more of the rainforest. With the help of the rest of their team, they find Fig and stop the destruction.
King continues to develop the characters and weaves science throughout the story. Readers learn about the rainforest's role in keeping the planet alive and about working to save it for the future. The illustrations support the text and let readers feel like they are traveling along with Ollie and Kiki.
Terrific series for mid-elementary level readers.

This book was received as an ARC from DK Children in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was so fascinated on the plot for this book that I had to continue reading to see if they saved their friend Fig the orangutan and be the heroes of the rainforest. This book also was filled with so many fun facts that can help young children expand their STEM knowledge plus not to mention, the illustrations were cute and will spark interest. We have been looking for educational chapter books that children will enjoy that will help expand their knowledge in school and that our teacher community will love as well and keep in their classrooms.

We will consider adding this title to our JFiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

One of my favorite early chapter series! I just love the whole premise of this series and the chosen explorers based on the mission at hand. This one focused on a mission where Fig, an orangutan, was missing, but also plantation owners were going to bulldoze part of the rainforest for an expansion to their palm oil plantation. Ollie, the rainforest explorer, and Kiki, the engineering explorer, had to save the rainforest before it was too late! Again, very engaging, beautiful illustrations, great back matter to learn more about rainforests and a quiz for children to take.

‘The Secret Explorers and the Rainforest Rangers’ is a chapter book about Ollie, who is part of the Secret Explorers team. Ollie is the Rainforest Explorer, and Kiki is an Engineering Explorer. Ollie and Kiki are going on a mission together. Their mission is to go to Borneo, Southeast Asia, and save an orangutan.
Can Ollie and Kiki rescue the orangutan? Read this fantastic adventure book to find out!

In this book, I learned about rainforests, plantations, durians, rafflesia, palm trees' fruits, and palm oil.
I love the illustrations in this book and the cover, too.
