I read a lot of police procedural and detective type books and I expected this one to be similar. I was thrown pretty quickly by the supernatural aspects of the book. I wasn't expecting vampires and werewolves to be integral to the story when I picked it up. That being said, I really enjoyed it! It had all the things I like about detective books, with a little added excitement. I enjoyed "watching" Jack deal with balancing his past and present, revealing much of himself along the way. Great characters and interesting plot! I would definitely check out more books by Ms. Cady in the future!

Overall a good concept in story with tons of potential in growth in future stories. 3.5 star rating

I would like to see a more solid character personality type as his seemed to change throughout the book. At first confident and arrogant, then when times got tuff- not so much.

Triple M Murder is the first book in the Jack Calloway thriller series. I started this book thinking it will be a regular mystery, investigative thriller. But I was completely thrown when I discovered it to be a investigative thriller with paranormal elements thrown in. The book begins with a murder and the hero Jack Calloway, who has a tragic past, is drawn in to profile the murder and the perpetrator who had done the murder. But with time, it becomes a case of serial murders with the detective in charge of the case suspecting Jack Calloway to be the suspect, when it turns out that all women who are getting murdered were people he had romantic entanglements with.

What follows is a cat-and-mouse game between Jack and the dangerous suspect, who has upped the game by capturing the woman whom Jack had a very close bond with and for whom he had feelings. As the story comes to its conclusion we get to know whether or not Jack escapes this predicament.

The author Carmen Cady's narrative style is brilliant and fast-paced. All the characters had been given enough depth for us to discover who they are as people and what makes them tick. The author also manages to pull in the emotions of the reader, enough for us to feel Jack's pain and tears; so, the book can be called fairly emotionally engaging. Overall it's a fairly good read but it just is not excellent. It's just was not my cup-of-tea.

BOOK REVIEW- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Thoughts: Thank you to @netgalley, Carmen Cady, and Cady Publishing for a copy of this E-arc in exchange for an honest review. I went into this one blindly and I'm glad I did because otherwise I'm not sure I would have read it. Triple M Murder follows Jack, a PI and a vampire, on his quest to solve a string of serial murders. This book gave me so many different vibes: thriller, vampire suspense, paranormal themes, and police procedural. I enjoyed this book and how quickly I bit in and hooked onto the story

Jack Calloway is a criminal profiler and a private investigator. He is frequently called in to assist the police in hunting down vicious killers.

Many years ago, Jack was a witness to the murder of his entire family. No one was ever charged with the crime and Jack has been hunting the killer his entire life.

Little does he know the man who murdered Jack's family has also been hunting him. The killer is going on a spree ... and planning to incriminate Jack. But he has other problems.

He's asked with work with a forensic expert .... a woman he once loved and pushed away and a lead detective that doesn't like or trust Jack.

And to put the cherry on top of the sundae, he carries a deep, dark secret that will cost him everything he holds dear if that secret is revealed.

This one is a bit out of my preferred genre. Although well written, my mind doesn't stretch to accept supernatural killers. The plot would have been great had this been "just" a crime fiction. For those who enjoy the supernatural, urban fantasy, etc.... will find this quite an enjoyable read.

Many thanks to the author / Cady Publishing / Independent Book Publishers Association for the digital copy of this Supernatural Suspense. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own..

Triple M Murder is an intriguing twist on the murder mystery genre by Carmen Cady. Jack Calloway is a consultant profiler who occasionally helps police departments along the US West Coast. In this instance, the Seattle police chief has called him in to help investigate a potential serial killer. The twist? Jack Calloway has been a vampire for over 150 years.

It's not immediately obvious at the start of the story, but little snippets are dropped out as Jack gives us his view of the world. Things like heightened senses, incredible strength and women's attraction to him are all given to us.

"My senses take it all in. I can capture smells imperceptible to others and notice details that aren't obvious."

Jack has a history with the Seattle PD, especially Ed Halsted Lead detective and Carla Briggs forensic investigator who's also Ed's ex-wife. You know that there's no love lost between the two men and that Jack and Carla were once an item. So onto the murders, three so far. The victims, all women have had their feet and wrists bound. There are unexplainable puncture wounds to the neck and wrists which are older than the marks left by the bindings. It looks as though there were two different types of torture taking place over several weeks. Are there two torturers?

As we move further into the story, we learn that in this world there are two types of law enforcement: Those of a human, and those of a supernatural nature. The vampires are ruled by the Dracul who have fought to coexist peacefully with humans. There are also werewolves in the background. Jack sits somewhere just outside of both worlds, never fully aligned to either. As I said earlier, it's a really intriguing concept with some great original ideas.

For me though, I struggled to connect with Jack, the main character. Maybe it was his casual use of women within the story or the sense of arrogance about him, I wasn't sure. Although this is not just a reflection of him, it seemed a trait among the whole vampire community, which may be what the author intended. Ed Halstead also appeared big and brash at the beginning, but towards the end, my impression of him changed dramatically.

Characterisation apart, Triple M Murder moved at a pretty quick pace with plenty of suspense thrown in. The supernatural aspect of the plot increased the sense of intrigue and added a welcome twist to your average serial killer plot. I enjoyed the history behind the Dracul's and the concept of opposing vampire factions. I think there's plenty more here to build on for future stories.

After pushing through the first couple of chapters with a gung-ho alpha male lead (where I nearly abandoned the whole thin) he, fortunately, settled down into unravelling an interesting and quirky police murder/thriller.. I liked the supernatural elements and the uneasy truce between vampires, weres and humans. Three and a half stars. Thanks to NetGalley and Cady Publishing LLC for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Urban fantasy mystery that will keep you turning the page! Read this in a day, just couldn't stop. A strong murder mystery weaving the past and present, humans and non-humans, and yes, a vampire detective with quite a history of his own. Excellent character development and intertwining of the human and non-human communities and structure - very believable. I got so into the characters that I must say I was pretty sad at some developments, and hope that moves a different direction if this continues as a series, or it will lose me, and I'd hate to see that happen because so far an excellent read and hopefully the beginning of an engaging new series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Carmen Cady for the opportunity to read the advance copy of Triple M Murder. I was remiss in reading the book description & didn't notice the vampire reference. This isn't my genre & I don't feel i could give a fair review. I have suffered the recent accidental death of my grandson & I'm struggling to concentrate on anything. My apologies for being unable to finish this book.

This book was just odd for me. It’s not that I didn’t like it but I wouldn’t say I loved it. The story is interesting. And I think it had a lot of potential. But there were some things I did not like.

First the good, I liked the suspense and it kept me interested to figure out the who-dun-it. I thought the romance of the story was done well and not over the top. I thought it was right to how people would feel who once had a connection but now have to work together.

Now the other part. First I hated, HATED, the way the women are portrayed in this story. I mean seriously the sexism in the story was distracting. If it had been set a different time it would have made more sense but it is not and women are not sex objects.

There were times it felt the author was saying 15 words for 3 to fill in pages. A number of things/people were overly explained for no reason.

I will read the next in the series to see if the first was overly written to explain the new characters but I am not sure how much of a fan I will be.

A really strong thriller with a dash of supernatural to make it a bit different to many thrillers on the market. The back story is heartbreaking and really makes the characters and their relationships something to invest in. Highly recommended for people who like their thrillers a little bit brutal and dark.

Jack Calloway, a PI and criminal profiler with a dark secret, and a past littered with tragedy, is called in to assist in solving a series of grizzly murders. Jack was compelled initially to become a PI to try and track down the monster who destroyed his family. The narrative becomes a story of cat-and-mouse when evidence builds against Jack, making himself a suspect in the triple M murder case. To uncover who is truly behind the murders Jack must work with his ex-lover (who he still cares for deeply).

This is a suspenseful supernatural, thriller/romance and I enjoyed my time reading it. The world-building and incorporation of the supernatural elements were done seamlessly and I liked the twists that they lead to throughout. There are some steamy scenes in this book that were not over-the-top; I could constantly feel the sexual tension between Jack and Carla and their romance felt very authentic.

The majority of the story is written in the 1st person (from Jack’s POV) but you do get other character’s POVs as well; I did find it a bit jarring that these were written in the 3rd person (except for one other character). The Author’s writing style is quite descriptive and had a nice flow. I found the pacing to be slower than I would have liked, particularly towards the climax due to the inclusion of descriptions and (small) info dumps – an example is during a time where I felt very tense, the tension was lost because almost a whole page was dedicated to providing a family history of one of the characters which I felt didn’t add anything extra to the story.

I also was not a huge fan of the way the women in the story were portrayed as they were often described initially by the physical appearance of their breasts, legs etc. and I think we need to move past this in 2021. Furthermore, the way that the male characters ‘think’ about women as being helpless and are patronising towards them was off-putting and did make me disconnect from the story at times.

Overall, I would have liked this book to have shown the supernatural ‘beings’ in their more traditional horrifying, scary way, but I highly recommend Triple M Murder to anyone who likes supernatural romance books or wants a great crime novel with a supernatural twist.

I couldn't get past the first few pages. This one just didn't grab my interest. The sentences felt choppy and I just couldn't get into the flow of the story.

Triple M Murder starts with a mystery: Why is respected private investigator and criminal profiler who consults with the police on tricky cases, Jack Calloway in jail? And so begins the twisty tale that introduces forensic investigator and lead Criminal Scene Investigation officer for the Seattle, Washington Police Department, Carla Briggs and lead detective Ed Halstead, creating an uneasy professional alliance complicated by their messy personal entanglements. Jack's being a wealthy playboy vampire is another complication. A love triangle is one of many layers in this meticulously crafted mystery. It's a police procedural, generational family saga, and a suspenseful thriller with dark romantic elements. Quick pacing in the action scenes balanced by judiciously spaced revelations of backstory details build dynamic tension that propels the narrative and generates emotional investment for readers as more characters and clues are discovered. People who've survived sexual assault or are sensitive to issues of involuntary compliance may want to skim or skip some passages. Triple M Murder echoes as an updated 21st-century homage to the Nick Knight movie that inspired the “Forever Knight" television show.

He has spent the intervening time becoming an expert at tracking killers down.
His past relationship with Carla, the CSI lead adds another interesting twist to the storyline.
Engaging, a little bit different with some great twists and turns I really enjoyed this book.

This is a very unique book. Jack Calloway is a criminal profiler and private investigator. He is dark, intense and has special qualities that make him a good investigator who is frequently called on by police to help solve crimes.

Years ago Jack witnesses his entire family being brutally murdered by a ruthless killer, and he has since spent his life trying to find the person responsible. Since that night he has been harboring a monstrous secret, one that few know about. The Monster who viciously killed his wife, child and parents was a vampire that turned Jack into one as well.

Jack is called out to a crime scene by police because there is a serial killer on the loose and they need his profiling abilities to help solve the crime. As more bodies are found and clues are collected they all seem to point to Jack. Someone or something is trying to frame him for the murders. Jack must solve the crime to clear his name but also to protect those he cares most about because nobody is safe and someone is out for revenge.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the blend of police procedural and the supernatural elements that worked so well together. The characters were well developed and interesting and I really look forward to future books in the series to continue reading about Jack and his crime solving with the help of both the humans and supernatural beings in his life. I am very intrigued about the many interesting characters that we were introduced to and how all their stories will develop. This was a wonderful paranormal thriller with bite.

I didn't make it thru thr first chapter of this book. The writing style was hard to follow along. There were details, so so many details. Too many details! Details that really weren't important or interesting or had anything to do with anything.
