I really hate the writing style of Memories of Tomorrow. Head hopping is highly annoying and that is just what the author does. I didn't last long before I stopped reading. DNF
Memories of Tomorrow is a prequel to the Scrapbook Series by Natalie R Vice. While not very long - it's a great short intro to Jo and Gina. High school best friends that took different paths, meeting up again for the first time in a LONG time. This little book def serves it's purpose because just as I was like "YES what next?". it ended lol. So I'm reserving the first book in this series from the library so that I can keep up with the girls. I received an advance digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is the introduction of some characters that will play a huge role in a future series of books. Gina and No had been best friends when they were young, but life and decisions kept them away from each other. Now, in their 50's it feels like the time to find their way back to each other arrived.
It looks like a promising start.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very short story (80% was story, the rest was other stuff about the author) and I read it over an hour or so.
We meet Gina and Jo, women in their 50s who were friends as teens but have fallen out of touch until Jo moves back to her home town. It is the morning before they meet for the first time in a long time, and we see how they are both worried about whether they'll have anything in common to talk about. The story ends as Gina arrives at Jo's house.
One the one hand, I have felt this same apprehension myself, so it rang true. On the other, I didn't especially enjoy the very prescriptive style of writing, and there were several spelling errors, a couple of which I genuinely couldn't tell what the author was trying to say.
This is a prequel to other stories about Gina and Jo, I may see if I can read at least one as I do enjoy a lot coming of age stories, especially around young women, even if I didn't love this one.
Thanks for the opportunity to read Netgalley.
Two childhood friends Gina and Jo who haven’t seen each other in many years arrange a meeting to catch up and chat about old times.
This story is about personal choices and how fate can alter your life and change a person’s attitude to everything around them.
This is a prequel to the Ozarks Scrapbook Series and is a quick read.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
