The Gossip by Nancy Bush is the second in the River Glen series with Mackenzie Laughlin. Mac, as she is known, left her job at the River Glen Police Department after too many advances made by her supervisor, Bennihof. Mac has been requested to look into the disappearance of Rayne Sealy by her friend Bibi, who is concerned that Rayne's ex-boyfriend, Seth, may know what has happened. While Mac is on a stakeout to watch Seth and try to gain answers, someone opens her passenger side door. Jesse James Taft is a former River Glen detective now a PI. He demands to know who she is watching and why. They decide to team up to get answers about Seth for varied reasons.
Honestly, I just couldn't stay interested in this combination of characters. It took four attempts for me to finish this book. The story just lacked enough to keep my interest. I just wanted to finish the book and move on. Sorry! I have enjoyed other books by Nancy Bush, so I don't know why this one seemed so shallow.

Thank you to NetGalley, The author and publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Someone's taking revenge in River Glen but who? Mac left the police force because of harassment but she's still willing to hop in and look for a missing woman. James Taft is also on the case and these two team up in more ways than one. There's a lot of crime here (too much) and a lot of characters (too many) and the story is told from several perspectives. I liked the first book in this series and was happy to see a couple of characters from that one pop up here but this wasn't as strong. It is, however, perfectly readable as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Gossip by Nancy Bush that I read and reviewed.
This book was just okay for me. There was just too much going on and way too many characters in this book to try to keep straight it got confusing at some points with two separate storylines that seemed to be going on at the same time. I guess I wish Bush would have focused on one story and not thrown in a second one, for me it was just too messy and really had no real finish or setup for a second book it was just a loose end.
I am only able to give The Gossip three out of five stars.
In line with the series, it stayed right in the vein and on theme. A bit heavy on the erotica if that’s not you avoid this one.
I really enjoyed this book. It was great seeing Emma again and catching up with Cooper, Jamie and Harley. Taft is very interesting. He knows lots of people and works for some questionable people, but he himself is a good guy. Mac is at a loose ends career wise when she meets Taft. There are some interesting cases with a mystery to unravel. I quickly read this book as I was so engrossed in the storyline. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
I could not wait for this book!! It was probably best of the series so far. This is the best suspense that we're getting to see and if you thought her other books were hardcore...well you're gonna have to read this to see about the this one lol!! I loved the violence, heat, and romance of it all!!
Mac has quit her job as a cop because of sexual harassment from her boss, but can’t stay away fro trying to solve crimes. She teams up with Taft to try to figure out who’s behind all the crime in their town. This book dragged a good bit, and had sooo many characters that it was a little hard to follow.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. MacKenzie is asked to look into a woman who went missing. The missing woman was found deceased. With more questions than answers, MacKenzie will need all her know how to catch a killer.
The Gossip by Nancy Bush was a quick, fun read! I was interested right away when I read the synopsis. Check it out:

Could be your last
In his old school yearbooks, they were the pretty, popular ones, confident and callous. Back then, they held the power. But now, it’s all his. He’s been waiting to teach them the lessons they should have learned long ago: that gossip and popularity have a price, and it’s time to pay…
Coming on June 29.
MacKenzie has left the police department due to sexual harassment by her boss. Now she has agreed to investigate the disappearance of a local woman. This was definitely not my favorite book by this author. For me the story dragged and there were a lot of characters to keep track of, very confusing. Thank you to net galley for an advanced authors copy.
1 star. This could be a really good book without all the sex scenes. I did not finish. Not for me at all.
I'm completely on the fence about this book. I really liked the storyline of it but I struggled because the book felt like it was just dragging along. It was also kind of confusing at times because there are a lot of characters. I generally enjoy all the books Nancy Bush writes, this one was just a little off for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a opportunity to review this book. A very typical Nancy Bush book, If you have read and enjoyed one of her books you will probably like them all. I am happily in this category and enjoy her work. A good quick satisfying read.
The plot was original and the characters were well thought out. I did find this book dragged in for me with not enough suspense. I also found it had way way to many characters and that took away from the story. It got hard to keep everyone straight. I didn’t like the bouncing all over of which character was telling which part of the story as there was also two simultaneous stories going on. This one was not my favourite
I really like when Nancy Bush and her sister Lisa Jackson write together but was super excited about this one!! Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this title.
I did like the main mystery, but there were elements of the story that felt unresolved. I wanted more with Mackenzie's family relationships and to read more with the developing romance.
This was a fast read. I had to get to the end to see who did it. Good mystery and some twists I did not expect
Every word you whisper! Every secret you share! Could be your last!
WoW this was a good quick suspense read! I honestly didn't know what to expect when I first opened thus but it was good! Really good! These are the books I enjoy reading!
This book is about a close knit community and rumors. Ultimately these untruths have led to someone lashing out in revenge. Great atmospheric mystery and thriller, I highly recommend.
