I loved this book!!
It had an explosive storyline and it was a brilliantly addictive read
I thought that the author had a wonderful writing style and the story was perfectly told, it had the perfect pace, it was one that I wanted to carry on reading and I didn't want to put it down
There was a fight for survival, it was romantic and heartstopping
I had no hesitation in giving this book five stars - very highly recommended!
I loved this book so much. I can’t wait to see if you will write another one. Mafia Prince is one of my favorite reads this year
This was a super weird disappointment. Maeve is the typical martyr heroine, and Jack was supposed to be a morally gray hero who was just flat and boring.
Dark mafia romance between mafia Prince Jack and Maeve.
Setting in Ireland, Maeve lives with alcoholic mother and druggie brother. She didn't have much but when her brother was threaten by loan sharks, she needed money fast and she couldn't think of anybody else except Jack.
She knew she wasn't his favorite but she had no other choice.
Being son of Liam O'Reagan isn't easy. His father groomed him to be a mafia prince. He was constantly seeking for his approval and he doesn't hand out compliments easily. When Maeve showed up in his club asking for his help, it peaked his curiosity. He knew she was his little sister Dana's friend and feisty.
Maeve is willing to do anything and when he is willing to offer his help with a deal. Everything will work out the way Maeve wanted to except she will need to stay with Jack and do the deeds.
Nothing comes easy for both.
This was darker than most of mafia romance i have read. I can't wait to read about other brothers and it seems story will continue as the series continues.
Thanks to Netgalley and Carter books for ARC in exchange for review.
This book was amazing. Sooo steamy. The chemistry was off the chart. I need more! Vi Carter is an incredible authority
What really got me was the mafia aspect. I mean who doesn't love a mafia romance story, especially one with a forced marriage. Unfortunately, this was not what I was expecting. There was something missing, in that when I was reading, I found myself asking wait what? or who? There were some plot holes that left me confused. There was little mafia involvement. For a book with the title Mafia Prince, I expect MAFIA heavy! The ending was a little rushed in my opinion as well.
One of those stories your read when you are tired and you are not in the mood for a complicated read. Luckily it is not a "raped until fallen in love" story but one in which the mutual feelings develop in a more normal way.
The heroine is someone who had climbed out of a social pit but her mum is still a drunk and her brother an addict. As the brother is in deep depths she turns to the only one she thinks might still be willing to help.
The setting is Ireland.
The writing style is smooth.
A great mafia romance. It was a bit sweeter than I expected. It wasn’t as dark or as violent as previous mafia books I’ve read but it was still enjoyable
Maeve is willing to do anything to pay off her brother's huge debt, and she finds herself turning to Jack O'Reagan, son of one of the rulers of the Irish Mafia. He is cold and calculating but doesn't mind paying her brother's debt, as long as she does one thing for him: spend the night in his bed.
This was such an intense and steamy read! I love mafia romances, and this did not disappoint at all. Jack was such a great male main character, and his personality was one of my favorite parts of the book. I really felt the chemistry between him and Maeve, which can really make or break romance for me, if I don't really see or believe the connection between the two main characters. This was a quick read that kept me on the edge of my seat; I needed to know what was going to happen next. The ending wrapped up a little too nicely, in my opinion, but other than that, this was a great read.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Carter Books for the ARC of Mafia Prince by Vi Carter!
While this was not a terrible story it does struggle with continuity. Having the story set up from only two points of view does limit much of the insight for the reader and had the author just fleshed each character's dialogue and background of events this story could have been a homerun. The character of Maeve immediately garners sympathy and support by the burden of family addiction ad dysfunction. Jack is immediately introduced as a psychopath and killer without the reader gaining much insight other than being taught to become the head of the Irish Mafia. The problem is that Jack does not gaining any reader understanding or sympathy until the story is almost completed. If the author had taken the time to make sure there was continuity of story and action many of the inherent issues as a reader would resolve.
Ohhhhh this was so good. I’ve been really enjoying my mafia romances and I’d been looking forward to this one. It was a nice change from all the Chicago Mafia settings. This book is book one in the Young Irish Rebels series by Vi Carter and it’s dark and brutal. There was no real super romantic gestures but in the end there was family and love.
Maeve Reilly and Jack O’Reagan go way back, as far back as being childhood neighbors. They weren’t friendly to each other and that stuck with Maeve through adulthood. When a family debt threatens their safety, Maeve takes it upon herself to solve their problems and asks for help from the person she thought she hated as a last resort, Jack O’Reagan. He’s more than willing to help, but at a price Maeve was not expecting. As their new arrangement takes place, they soon realize that the reason behind their harsh and misguided feelings towards each other has always been rooted in attraction and the fact that they were basically off limits to each other. Now they have the chance to be with one another disguised as a contract but will they be able to move past that and show their real feelings towards each other? Or will years of animosity threaten their possibility of love? They jump through hoops for family, but what about for love?
This book was way better than expected. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship mellow each other out. Jack was shown the affection that he always needed and Maeve was shown the support and comfort that she’d missed out on. I feel like their characters really complimented each other. Jack is a really brutal character, next in line for the East Irish mafia, he can’t afford to make any mistakes and while he found his weakness, I feel like so did everyone else. This book had equal parts of heartbreak, ruthlessness and love and it came out in an awesome book. I’d recommend this book in a heartbeat! I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series.

3.5 Stars
Maeve Reilly is in trouble, and she needs money... fast. And while her only salvation may be the worse solution possible, Maeve has nowhere else to go...
Jack O’Reagan can't believe his luck when Maeve seeks him out for his help... and he has every intention of taking advantage of her desperate situation to have her in his bed, once and for all...

Mafia Prince was a sexy, dangerous, and suspenseful, mafia romance. When Maeve puts herself on the line to help her family, she finds herself at the mercy of Jack, the ruthless and determined mafia heir, who has always wanted the sassy yet innocent, Maeve.
Maeve and Jack's dark and complicated love story was dripping in suspense and all sorts of forced proximity sexiness! Maeve was a smart young woman who wants better for her family, but continually seems to sacrifice herself to obtain it. Jack was a merciless man, deeply embroiled in the politics of his mafia family, and highly distracted by all things Maeve.
This book was the captivating introduction to the Young Irish Rebels series, which promises more sexy stories and mafia drama for many books to come...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Oh the suspense!
This was a fun book to read! Full of suspense, passion, danger, and romance! If you're into some danger in your romance books then this will be perfect for you.
This was really entertaining to read, the writing was really suspenseful and keeps you at the edge of your seat and the events are described very well.
Thank you to NetGalley and Carter Books for the earc in return for an honest review.
I started reading it only to learn that it had some topics I'm really not up for finishing. Like daddy issues, weak girl with lots of family issues ( I mean who in her family was not a druggie or drunkie?) and lack of actions as a Mafia romance book? Ugh! So I couldn't really go further. Sorry it's kind of 'it's not you, it's me' situation.
I guess this book was not for me!
This was intense and sexy and I loved seeing Jack and Maeve's story develop. She goes through a serious transformation being thrown into his world and I loved it. Their connection and chemistry was palpable.
This was a bit dark and gritty but there were some plot holes that left me with more questions than answers.
I liked Maeve and I felt sorry for what she had to go through which is why I didn't like the ending at all because for me it didn't make sense.
Jack was okay. I'm used to characters like him but I needed more.
Overall it was okay.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
An excellent first book in the Young Irish Rebels series by Vi Carter.
Maeve and Dana are firm friends, they come from different worlds but after an afternoon of fun together, Maeve is dealt a terrible blow when Dana's brother Jack makes Maeve flee home when he verbally abuses her and when she arrives home her world completely collapses when her father walks out of her life.
Years later, with her brother Declan's bad decisions and addictions, Maeve finds herself face to face with Jack O'Reagan again, but not in the way she would like. With a debt to repay for her brother's addictions, Maeve finds herself in Jack's clutches and wondering if the way in which he demands the debt to be repaid will be the ruination of her.
With Jack gearing up to become the leader of the North-East Ireland branch of the Mob, he has become even more dangerous than ever before and trying to work out who to trust, including family members, is becoming that much more difficult and bringing Maeve into the mix has Jack thinking she will be the one weakness that he can't protect.
This was a fast paced and well written book and I look forward to reading Mafia King, the next book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and Carter Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Mafia Prince is the first book in a new series by Vi Carter. This author is new to me, but I was excited to get an advanced copy because it sounded amazing and I love the Mafia genre.
This story is not about one but two damaged souls finding their way to each other. Jack, the Mafia Prince, who has faced a horrific childhood in preparation of becoming the Mafia King. Maeve, abandoned by her father at an early age and left with a mother who was nothing but a drunk, and a drug addict for a brother. These two have both endured and/or committed countless atrocities but somehow they keep surviving.
I can't wait for more in this series and from this author!!
The story of Jack and Maeve had me very invested from the very beginning. I really enjoyed the push and pull between them. Jack, was going to have her one way or another, there was no stopping him when he had his mind set on what he wanted and what he wanted most was Maeve. Family be damned, Jack was going to have her.
Maeve was always drawn to Jack and he was nothing but cruel to her as a child. Maeve was never going to measure up to Jack and he liked to remind her of that. The family dynamic and the events that play out when her Mom and brother fall deeper into trouble keep Maeve even more drawn and dependant on Jack and he is not one to miss an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
This all plays out among the Irish mob and its power struggle.
I really enjoyed this and will definitely be back for the rest of the crew's books
So, a mafia romance set in Ireland. Ok, the setting was good. The storyline itself.... meh. Very dark romance, sometimes NOT sexy. This was just ok for me. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
