Very cute children's book for toddlers. The illustrations are simple and cute. My toddler very much enjoyed it.
Sweet story about a chick who hugs. Perfect book for a 2-3 year old who likes to cuddle on the lap for a loving story.
I didn't love the illustrations for this story, but I did love the story itself. Little chick is too small to work, but he makes other animals happy by giving them hugs and kisses. Helping by giving love definitely improves the mood when working so it can be considered a big job by itself. This one would be great for kids to hear.
The illustrations are sweet but the story about a duckling moving around the farm giving all the animals a hug felt a little forced. I'm not really sure why, but it didn't feel like it would resonate with young readers.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This was an okay picture book about some animals needing a hug. Nothing exceptional about it though.
Cock-a-doodle-doo! Wake up everyone! It's a brand new morning on the farm! All the farm animals begin to do their jobs - cows give their milk and chickens lay their eggs, but what is little chick's job? He is so small and seemingly insignificant. What in the world can he contribute?
His job is very customized and very special. Little Chick is the farmyard's goodwill ambassador and he makes his rounds every day giving the animals smiles and hugs to make them feel better. He visits a sheep, a mommy duck, a goat, a rabbit, a cow, a sweet horse, and a piglet who is stuck in the mud. Oh my! He wraps a hug around each one and his kindness makes their day begin happily.
The illustrations are simple and very kid-friendly. Kids will have fun thumbing through the pages again and again learning all names of the farm animals. The book's positive message is that you are never too young to spread happiness and love with hugs. The book is delightful and I highly recommend it.
Everyone loves a hug! Chick spends his day giving his barn yard friends a hug. I would also use this book in a farm unit. This is a perfect book for preschoolers. I love the illustrations!
The illustrations are cute, crisp, and simple and I really think that kids will love this little book!
A good reminder to kids that even though they're small and might be insignificant, they are meaningful. They can do a job a toddler does best: Giving hugs! How we enjoyed being hugged by little kids.
Their hugs can soothe tiredness, boost cheerfulness, and give happy vibes to all who need them.
The artwork in this book was cute. I didn’t particularly like the storyline about hugging though. I just don’t like making a kid think they have to hug anyone, and this definitely encourages that.
I get that this book is to get little kids to show affection and have kindness toward people, but I do not like that in the time of COVID it is promoting hugging people. I personally would not have a child read this book/read it to them right now.
This is a sweet story with simple pictures for a very small child. I like that it encourages children to show love to others and try to brighten their day. I thought it was a little confusing when Chick suddenly starts giving kisses in a book about hugs. The title uses the word "hug" and for the first few pages Chick gives hugs, but then it switches to "peck" for goat, "kiss" for rabbit, cow, and horse, no description for pig, then back to "hug" for mommy. At the end, Chick gives mommy a "kiss" and it says all the animals know tomorrow will be another day for a "hug." Overall, this is still a cute story. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital copy.
A wholesome story with super cute illustrations! Although a quick read, I adore its many heartwarming lessons such as the healing power of a hug, how every creature - no matter how small - plays a valuable role, and the importance of spreading positivity and kindness wherever we go.
This is a story that little ones will love and mommies too with sweet hugs and kisses to give all round.
Personally, I don't find the writing style to work well even for a children's book but that may just be my family and I.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Chick is very loving and caring. Chick enjoys helping everyone out on the farm and brightening up there day. A great book for toddlers. This book will help teach animals that you will find on the farm. You might read this to early elementary students to help them learn how to read these animal words.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for providing me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It's morning and all the animals on the farm are starting their day. They all have a job to do... but what about little chick? What is it's job? To give hugs of course. Join chick as it gives hugs around the farm.
This one was cute. Art was simplistic, but it's a sweet little story about a baby chicken wanting to give moral support through hugs. My daughter enjoyed it, and kept telling me afterwards that she was just like the baby chick.
I asked her if we should go with three or four stars and she said 4/5 so here we are. I'll not argue with her judgement. It gave her a laugh when the pig was introduced, so that part was a win for me as well.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for a review.
This book was fine but did not have the flow that a children's book would normally have. There was also no real story other than Chick going around hugging his friends. It was sweet but probably not one I would readily recommend unless you were looking for a children's book specifically about hugging.
Extremely cute book. Chick is adorable, I'm sure that all children who read will like it and be inspired by it to be more affectionate and kind. I loved reading and recommend it.
What a cute book.
I know this is marketed towards kids, but I've been reading some really dark stuff and wanted to just have a nice book to get me in a happier mood.
A Great Day for a Hug is a book for anyone needing some love in this time of isolation, where we never know when we'll feel the warmth of another body.
A cute story of a chick being friendly and warm to his farm friends and gave them a hug every day. It's short and cute. I just wished it to be longer and have more interactions with the characters to each other.
