I loved the authors previous books, but I found this one a little slow at times. I prefer to have a romance where the characters directly interact and by about 50 percent their interaction was still by email. It caused me to skim a bit to get to actual interactions. I think there will be some readers (specifically Hallmark fans) that really enjoy this story because of the slow build. It is still a well written book and I loved both characters. Just needed a bit more chemistry!

Thank you to the Publishing company and NetGalley for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Having been consumed by her toxic relationship with ex-boyfriend Rick the Dick, and after being dumped, Teddy’s friends convince her to take some Teddy Time to focus on herself. Working in a vintage toy store, having no life direction, no thing to speak of, no passion, she consults a children’s daytime puppet show host Everett St. James... and he answers her e-mail? Intrigued, yet scared, Teddy confesses her secrets, opens up to this guy with a reputation for being great with kids. Until he wants to meet her.

I am a fan of Kerry Winfrey’s Not Like the Movies, I didn't really like this one too much. I didn't like how the story switched to third person POV. I liked the characters, but the overall pace of the story seemed to drag on forever. So for me this one was just okay,

A coworker and fellow Netgalley reader recommended this book to me, and I'm so glad I read it.

After an unexpected breakup, Teddy is feeling lost. Her best friends come up with a plan to help her find herself by trying things that she's been afraid to do. One night, Teddy sends an email to Everett, a local children's show presenter she's been crushing on, and so begins a series of adorable emails.

If you like pen pal romances like "You've Got Mail" or enjoy watching Hallmark rom-coms, give this book a try.

This book is perfect for anyone looking for a cute, sweet, witty RomCom! I constantly felt myself smiling, grinning, or giggling while I was reading this book! The characters fully captured my heart and tugged at my heart strings, and I found myself rooting for them from page one. The only thing that could’ve made me enjoy it more would be a little more steam!! But I know it’s good to have some romance books with less for those who don’t enjoy it, so I recommend this book most for those people!

A big book hug for this one. This book was not only a sweet romance but the characters were all so love able! I want to be friends with each of them. Somehow puppets were made cool and not creepy at all. Also my new book boyfriends must all wear cardigans. I can’t wait to read more books by this author. Thank you for my advanced reader copy.

Favorite Quotes:

I knocked three times, and when you didn’t answer, I got worried that you’d died on the toilet and I didn’t want your parents to have to find you like that. It would be undignified and traumatic.

“He treated you like garbage.” She pronounced the word gar-BAJ, like it was French or something.

He tried to think of a time he’d seen Gretel cry. When she was a baby, of course. She had cried constantly because she resented not being in charge of her own life. She was basically born wanting to drive a car and open a bank account.

He had the best smile she’d ever seen in her life, like a baby animal and a classic Hollywood leading man combined.

“It’s hard to turn work off, you know?” Natalie nodded. “I know, dude. But sometimes the people in your life need you to turn it off. Unless you want to be one of those eccentric geniuses who’s been divorced fifteen times and lives in a giant mansion full of regret.”

My Review:

I smirked and giggle-snorted my way through this delightfully sweet and relatable rom/com. It was exactly what I needed after a string of tense thrillers and hit just the right tones with clever humor and sly wit. The characters were thoughtfully crafted and tenderly endearing and knowable yet realistically flawed and struggling with real-world issues within amusing and storylines laced with comedic yet insightfully observant scenarios.

Ms. Winfrey’s style was crisp and well-tuned with sparkling humor as she detailed their challenges without being angsty, which felt authentic and a refreshing change of pace from tedious formulaic romance tropes. This was my first experience reading her clever arrangements of words and was an instant fangirl. I have added her to my list of favorites and one to watch and added her entire listing to my TBR. How could I not? She knows the undeniable magical pull of Taco Bell’s drive-through for the Drunchies as well as the ingenious and regrettable madness of The Breakup Bob.

Kerry Winfrey does a killer job with these romance contemporaries and this book was no exception. I really loved Teddy and the journey she had to go on. Also Everett is literally a dream man. These two were so perfect and felt so real. I look forward to read more of Kerry's books in the future!
THank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

If you are looking for the perfect adorable feel good read, this is it. I absolutely adored this read!! Teddy and Everett’s stories wove together so beautifully. Their emails had me smiling so hard and their friends were amazing! loved it! It reminds you it is never too late to try new things, never stop looking for your passion, and it’s okay to replace outgrown dreams with new ones.

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group, and of course, Kerry Winfrey for providing me with an eARC of this book. I am leaving a review voluntarily, all opinions are my own.

This book was honestly adorable. It was a lighter, more rom-com feeling contemporary with a great cast of characters and such an empowering storyline without it being in your face. There was such a good balance throughout this book of everything you could possibly want.

I'm going to admit that this was my first book by Winfrey, but I will most definitely find some of her other books because I enjoyed the writing a lot.

Teddy was such a great MC and while some of her choices and moments irritated me, I legitimately understood where she was coming from because her emotions were so real. This book highlighted some of the greater moments of humanity and it made for such a quick, fulfilling read.

Adorable romance with great pop culture references in it! I am such a fan of this author and she doesn't disappoint here. I loved this book. I thought the characters were great and the writing was easy to follow. I am also such a sucker for love letters so enjoyed that too!! Highly recommend

Pop culture references, a sexy Mr. Rogers and an email flirtation turned romance made this a sweet, heartwarming read.⁣

I became a Kerry Winfrey fan when I read and loved 𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘛𝘰𝘮 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴 and 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘴. This sweet romcom has further cemented my love. Chock full of pop culture references and a sexy nod to 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘙𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴’ 𝘕𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘥 (how can that even be possible right but it works y’all!) this heartwarming romance simply worked for me. ⁣

I loved how Teddy and Everett got to know each other over email (a little nod to 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘎𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘭) and the secondary characters were great. We even got a little cameo from Chloe and Nick from 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘴. This is definitely a feel good, sweet romcom with a wonderful message about finding your passion. It’s light on steam and low angst but I fully enjoyed the unique storyline and the mixed epistolary format. It might be my nosiness showing through but I always love the feeling of getting to read letters, emails etc. I’m a sucker for love letters!

When I was in my twenties I read chick lit novels non-stop. Sometime in my thirties, though, I grew tired of the genre. I found myself rolling my eyes at the cliche tropes more often than not and personally the stories just made me feel bad about my own lack of romance. So I stopped reading the genre completely. But now in my 40s and I occasionally like to dip my toe in. And what better time for a fun romantic tale than summer?

Very Sincerely Yours has a great "meet-cute" moment between the two main characters. It was equally awkward for both parties but fun for the reader. And I didn't roll my eyes at a single romantic comedy trope as the story is really well done. While unlikely to ever really happen in real life the story felt realistic. The characters could definitely be real people and people that you would want in your life.

For readers that don't want a lot of angst or messy relationship moments, then this is a great book for you. The inevitable "can't be together" moment is pretty short-lived and the issue that drives them apart isn't anything too horrible. It was probably the only thing that came close to having me roll my eyes and yell at the characters - it would have gotten to that point had it been drawn out any longer than it was.

I can see this being made into a Hallmark movie. So if you haven't had your fill of fun, clean romances this summer then you should definitely pick up this book.

My review will be published at Girl Who Reads on Tuesday, July 13.

It’s such a treat to read a romance in which the main characters bring out the best in each other and are given the space to work on their baggage without losing the elements that brought them together in the first place. Very Sincerely Yours is one such book. Teddy (Theodora Phillips) was once a daredevil who lost her spark when she crashed her bike, breaking her arm, and then witnessed her parents’ breakup, blaming herself for their divorce. As a result, she opted for a life of conformity in which she lives to make other people happy, subjugating her own needs in the process. As a result, she spends several years with the wrong guy who dumps her because she lives a “small life.” Once she has some distance and perspective, Teddy realizes that she needs to spend some time figuring out what she wants to do with her life, putting herself first for a change. With the help of her two closest friends, she decides to face her fears one day at a time.

Everett St. James is a unicorn of a man who, at the age of four, fell in love with The Muppets and made it his life’s mission to become a puppeteer, eventually bringing joy, advice, and hope to the lives of his young audience. In the process, moms fall in love with his looks, charm and sincerity. Teddy, although not a mom, discovers his show while babysitting and he becomes a source of comfort for her. So it’s no surprise that, post break-up, one of her first “Teddy Time” actions is to email him for advice. Thus begins a love story based initially on emails that blossoms when they finally meet face to face.

Winfrey has scored another romantic hit following her delightful Waiting for Tom Hanks duology. In the world of dating apps based solely on attraction, it’s a refreshing change to read about a relationship based on letter-writing that allows the female protagonist to initially remain anonymous. Email provides a modern medium for sharing thoughts, worries, and dreams without risk, but the reward is the chance for a true love based on a connection that is more than skin-deep. This feel-good romance is a delightful beach read. Highly recommended!

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Berkley Books through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

I loved Kerry Winfrey's writing style in the other two books I have read so I was excited to read this one. It did not disappoint! I loved the premise and Teddy and Everett were perfection. I can safely say I will read whatever Kerry writes.

4.5 stars

Kerry Winfrey fan over here. It’s official. I’m 3/3 for her rom coms and if there was another one I hadn’t read yet, I’d go get my hands on it today.

Loved:
• cozy feeling, she does that so well
• the female friendships at the center of the story
• neither Teddy nor Everett were traditional rom com stars, so it was refreshing to see more unexpected characters in those roles
• the balance in tone between funny / slightly melancholy / heartwarming
• what the novel says about work life balance and finding meaning in work and life
• genuinely funny moments

Howevers
• Everett was a little one dimensional at times, though I get that this was part of the point of the novel
• I know KW writes novels with very low steam, but I wish she’d venture a little more into the 🔥 department

And now this book will take its place on a very happy little part of my bookshelf alongside Winfrey’s first two rom coms. Keep them coming!

I’m such a huge fan of Kerry Winfrey. Her two previous romances, Waiting For Tom Hanks and Not Like the Movies, were a huge hit for me back when they released, so I was so excited for Very Sincerely Yours. Her books are everything I love in romcoms and in my opinion they are totally romance movie worthy. She writes such swoony worthy stuff! I loved this one and I can’t wait to see what else she will write!

Thank you so much to Berkley Romance and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

This book was such a fun read and a super quick read. I really enjoyed it and the Dual POVs was great as well. I love a book that can make me chuckle out loud while reading it. Teddy and Everrett were a match made in rom-com heaven. I loved the fact that Everrrett felt that he could connect with kids the most and I really connected with Teddy when she said she hadn't found her it in life.

Overall a good read and definitely recommend it

Being from Ohio myself, I just adore Kerry Winfrey, and look forward to her books with each release. Not only does she write loveable romances that are somehow both unique and relatable, but I get so excited every time she mentions a local Columbus favorite I’ve been to that gets me excited! + The chance encounter with a previous book character made me swoon, it was a wonderful surprise and I know others who read Kerry’s previous books will be just as thrilled to see them show up!

What I loved most about the book is that while Teddy was learning to be brave, and discover who she was outside of a terrible relationship it was easy to relate to her. What made it seem as if she was unlikeable or a struggle to read at times (same for Everett when he got stuck in prioritizing his work) there were realistic situations and events that got them moving in a better direction again. It was inspiring to imagine that characters who “should” have it together, are still learning and growing but I had a hard time with Teddy at certain points in the book and just wanted her to “get” it.

Who would’ve thought we would all be dying for a sexy Mr. Rogers in cardigans after this! I hadn’t ever read a romance with a puppeteer & I was here for it 😂 There was something about their relationship starting off through emails that had me swooning.

The cast of characters that made up Teddy & Everett’s friends and family made this story so fun and endearing, his little sister was my favorite of the bunch, and I love the role she played in their relationship.

Overall I enjoyed this one, but it was not my favorite of Winfrey’s, the prior titles were just a little bit better in my opinion. thank you to Berkley Romance & NetGalley for my advance reader copy of this title, already looking forward to Kerry’s next book!

Just last year I read and really loved Not Like the Movies by Kerry Winfrey - it had the cozy and slightly corny vibes that I loved in early 2000s rom com movies. When I found out that her new book, Very Sincerely Yours, was inspired by You’ve Got Mail (arguably one of the best rom coms ever), I couldn’t wait to dig into it.

Kerry Winfrey definitely cranked up the quirk factor in this book compared to Not Like the Movies. Honestly, I found some elements of this book to be overexaggerated - like Teddy’s unwavering devotion to her ex-boyfriend and her lack of self-esteem. I found as the book went on, the quirkiness toned down to a more manageable level, but the beginning was a little hard to get through. After the first handful of chapters, the book was well paced - it was easy to get hooked and it was hard to put it down.

I found Teddy challenging to believe in/root for at the beginning of the book. I couldn’t buy into her pure blind devotion to her ex and her lack of self-worth. It was challenging to sympathize with her - her lack of self-worth was over the top and I had a hard time believing that a mature woman would behave that way. Once her friends began helping her understand her self-worth, she became a lot easier to empathize with. I loved reading about her growth journey from insecure to someone who put herself first and understood her self-worth.

Right from their first email, I was rooting for Teddy and Everett to end up together. Even in their emails they had great banter and chemistry - early in the book I was dying for them to meet face to face. When they finally did encounter each other, it was hilarious and really fit the tone of their relationship. Not only were they super cute together, but they also helped each other grow as people. By the end, it felt like they had really earned their happy ending.

Overall, Very Sincerely Yours was a pretty cute book, especially when you get past the first handful of chapters. I loved the homage to You’ve Got Mail and Mr Rogers - it gave this book a nostalgic tinge. If quirky books are your cup of tea, Very Sincerely Yours will be right up your alley - perfect for fans of Sally Thorne’s books. 4/5

Dead Reader,

How can I begin to describe this book? Perfection? No not quite, because it’s more than perfect. Resplendent? That’s the word. This book is a laugh-out-loud, make your heart soar, incredibly hopeful and joyful book. It is a shiningly brilliant, beautiful book. From beginning to end I could not stop smiling while reading this and I never wanted it to end.

Teddy Phillips did not see a breakup coming. Completely blindsided, and homeless, she turns to her best friends. They take her in and encourage her to step outside her comfort zone and try to do new things that scare her, trying to find something new that excites her. Everett St. James is the host of Everett’s Place, a daytime children’s television show. and possibly one of Teddy’s favourite people. In a moment of bravery, or stupidity, she emails him. Thus beginning the start of the best epistolary story ever.

Any book that references Kate Bush is an automatic favourite, but this book earned that title in so many more ways. From Teddy’s friends, their love of taco bell, movie nights and ice cream, I fell in love with every single character in this story. And GRETEL! Everett’s kid sister who totally deserves her own story. I want to know everything about the precocious fireball that she is.

I adored this book. I loved every single word. You need to read it too. This book is a JOY.

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Very sincerely yours,
Esther, age 24
