What a beautiful story. So emotional to follow Charley on her journey of trying to rebuild her life after the death of her husband. This is definitely a story about the power of friendship, and I loved how Charley’s friends were such a tower of strength to her whilst in turn she was able to be there for them too in their hour of need. I loved the relationship she’d maintained with Pam, her mother-in-law, they were really great together and Pam was able to add those little pearls of wisdom that we all need from time to time. .

A great story. Mother in laws are always given a bad press but this book was great for them. Especially for moving on, loved it. Also friends are great and follow your dream. I want to visit the pressco shop. Sounded fab. A lovely read

This is my review. This book was equally enjoyable and frustrating. I felt like Charley's story dragged, there were times I just wanted to shake her and times I was cheering for her. It all got resolved in the end. The story was mostly told from Charley and Pam's perspective, but occasionally other characters' perspectives were thrown in and it threw off the rhythm of the book a bit. I ended up liking Pam more than Charley.

I received an advance copy of, After the One, by Cass Lester. This book was to sad and depressing for me. I just felt sorry for poor, Charley.

Charley is a young widow and is struggling to move on.
After losing her job, the only way to keep the flat with her memories of her husband, is to take in a lodger. She ends up with her mother-in-law moving in.
Charley is struggling to work out what to do with her life, and after some encourangement from her friends sets about opening a prosecco themed shop. When she meets neighbouring shop owner Ricky will she be able to move on with her life or will she shut him out?
