Light, fluffy and a clean read. I have to admit that there isn't much depth to this book-there's a lot of stuff that gets glossed over (like how does no one ever see anyone flying? What exactly are the rules for fairy godmothering? What would stop someone from wishing their family riches?). However, it was a good "on the beach-kept my attention mostly" book.

I really wanted to love book but I could not get there. The overall premise was intriguing because there has never been a Cinderella type story from the POV of the Fairy godmother, that had me hooked. What I did not like or appreciate was they made Avianna into the villain. The godmother wanting some happiness and love is not outrageous but the plot made it so. I would have liked to read about more interactions between Nash and Avianna. We as the readers all know who the real villains are: the stepmothers and awful selfish stepsisters.

This book was not all awful but there were many lulls in the story, which made me lose interest. I hoped this would get better towards the end, it did not. A no for me. Cannot recommend.

Concept for this was cute, but felt it was slow to develop. I did like the characters but wanted more interaction between Avianna and Nash, there was just so much other stuff going on it detracted from what I thought was the main story.

There are a lot of books on everything supernatural, but not a lot of fairy godmothers as the main topic. This was a nice change in protagonist to a story. It was an easy read, so much that the ending was predictable. However, it's not a bad thing. Aviana's character was nice and sweet, if not gullible at times. However, her age does not match her way of thinking. She is wise beyond her year. There was one thing that was never answered at the end which was the connection between Aviana's mother and Nash's father.

I read 40% of I Put a Spell on You by Sarah Vance-Tompkins, but I quit reading it today. I just wasn’t interested enough in Aviana and her story to continue.

When Aviana’s 21st birthday arrives she is just hoping for a nice dinner out with her family, but the appearance of a strange book and nubs on her back set the stage for an even more magical day. This is a story about Aviana becoming a fairy godmother and all of the rules that come along with it. I have not read any other books that focus on fairy godmothers, so I was really excited to read this unique perspective. Unfortunately, the story and character just didn’t hold my interest. I did watch the new fairy godmother movie on Disney+, but I wouldn’t recommend that either.

I received an advanced readers copy of this book from NetGalley. This book will be released on March 23, 2021.

A fun retelling of Cinderella in the modern time with Cinderella taking on the role of fairy godmother. Her first task is to set up the prince character, Nash Nolan, with her step-sister. Awkward.

I Put A Spell On You has a very fun plot. I loved the fairy godmother elements and learning about their rules. The writing is what brought the story down for me. The dialogue was either entertaining or just not fun to read.

Aviana herself as a character was fun to root for. She starts off as a bit of a spoiled brat, but really grows into a kind person that’s willing to give up her reservations for another couple that needs a nice night out. The romance between Aviana and Nash was also very cute, but very sudden. I’m not sure why Nash was so drawn to Aviana in the beginning. Nash as a character didn’t blow me away, but he was a sweet character I enjoyed reading about.

Overall an average, but cute romance with some fun fairy tale elementals added in.

Not every fairy's tale begins with "once upon a time".

Aviana is struggling. She's lonely, living at home, and has no idea what she wants to do with her life. That her father and step-family are meanwhile basking in success doesn't help with these feelings. However everything changes when Aviana discovers she is a fairy-godmother - and her 'crazy', estranged mother is too.

While I felt that the start of the story dragged a little, once Aviana traveled to see her mother and learn about what is happening to her I had a good time. (It did feel a little as though a switch flipped at this point as she was very resistant at first to everything that was going on). Her kind and giving personality came out and it was so lovely to see her grow in confidence, accept who she is, and show such kindness to others.

A fairy godmother embraces knowing "happily ever after" is her purpose, not her future.

Aviana is finally noticed by her crush Nash and romance blossoms. But people aren't supposed to know about fairy godmothers and Aviana has been tasked with creating a match between Nash and her stepsister Vanessa so she tries hard to resist her 'Prince Charming'. I thought the two were sweet together but I do wish we knew why Nash suddenly (finally) noticed Aviana because once his attention was on her it was very focused.

My one dislike was the drama surrounding another of the fairy godmothers. It was so obvious, overly dramatic and dragged out. Characters would also often disappear and everyone got really stressed but then once they were back these incidents were completely glossed over so I don't really understand their purpose.

Overall a cute, easy read about finding your purpose and making peace with who you are and what you want.

I haven't read a romance book I've enjoyed in a long time. But this was a wonderful one to get me out of my slump! I enjoyed Sarah's book way too much! Like up all night couldn't sleep because I wanted to finish this so bad. It was cute, Sweet. And the fairy tale touch just added enough of fantasy for my liking!
Great Read!

I put a spell on you is a Cinderella retelling in which "Cinderella" is also the fairy godmother.

I don't know if this book made me cry because of what was happening or because it was 3AM.

At first the story was hard to get into, Aviana comes off as very whiny and a spoiled brat in the beginning of the book, but her "true nature" quickly comes out to reveal that she is a kind and giving person.

A cute romantic love story in addition to a self love story. Overall I really enjoyed the story.

I haven't read anything by Sarah Vance-Tompkins before. This is a pleasant surprise for me when I got her ebook as an ARC. It's a very cute story about a novice fairy godmother who fell in love with the prince even though she is supposed to make her wicked step sister and the prince fall in love. Quite a twist on the classic fairy tale. I enjoyed it a lot and finished it in a day. :) The characters are likable and did I mention that I really like the twist? :) A fun book!
